It takes about 150 grams to make a scarf. You also need very thick knitting needles, number 8 or 10. Before starting knitting, unwind 10 meters of yarn and carefully straighten it to avoid further twisting.

We cast on 6-8 loops along the edge of the yarn, it is best to cast on through one, skipping the loop. To do this, simply drag the knitting needle through the loops located at the top of the braid. After the loops are cast on, turn the knitting clockwise. We insert the knitting needle into the first stitch and pull it through the cast-on stitch of the first row. Lower the loop. We knit in this way until the end of the row. Again we turn the knitting clockwise and knit the third row in the same way as the second.

After the required number of rows are knitted, close the loops of the last row as usual.

Knitted products from ribbon yarn

Ribbon yarn in its structure is very different from the twisted knitting thread familiar to all needlewomen. This yarn is produced in the form of a lace or a narrow fabric with a width of 1 to 5 cm. It is created by special weaving from synthetic and natural materials: from wool and cotton, acrylic and polyester, viscose and polyamide.

This original thread is not suitable for knitting ordinary sweaters or jackets; it is used to bring to life designer models and spectacular finishing inserts.

For example, a scarf made of ribbon yarn at first glance seems to be a complex and intricate design. But in fact, any novice needlewoman can knit it.

To work you will need:

  • skein of ribbon yarn;
  • knitting needles - No. 5-7;
  • free time – 3 hours.

According to experienced needlewomen, one skein produces a scarf 90-100 cm long and 15 cm wide, and knitting with such yarn is a real pleasure.

First, you need to cast on 7-10 loops on one knitting needle, clinging to the top thread, as shown in the photo.

Advice! To make the initial edge neat and not shaggy, you can bend the thread and hook two loops as one!

Next, starting from the first loop, knit it as a knit stitch behind the top loop from the working thread. On the wrong side it’s the same way, knit with knits and the flounces will be evenly distributed on both the front and back sides:

A scarf made from ribbon yarn can be knitted one-sided, when the ruffles are located only on one side. Then on the wrong side it is necessary to knit the loops purlwise and hold the working thread before work.

You can knit using alternation with a simple thread, then the flounces will not be so thick. In the photo on the left, black additional thread is used, and the ruffles are revealed in all their glory, in the photo on the right - thick one-sided flounces:

For example, the photographs show scarves knitted only from ribbon yarn and in combination with woolen threads in color or in contrast.

Scarves made of bright airy flounces

Another type of ribbon yarn resembles a narrow knitted fabric. In a crowded form, all its beauty is not noticeable, but when stretched, you can see all the intricacies of this wonderful thread:

To work you will need:

  • yarn – ribbon – 100 g (plain or gradient);
  • knitting needles - No. 6-12;
  • free time – 2 hours.

A scarf made from ribbon yarn that resembles a mesh turns out to be incredibly light and airy, which is why it is simply called a ruffle scarf.

The loops are cast on from the top edge; for a narrow scarf, 6-7 loops are enough. Next, knit with knit stitches and it is better not for each next stitch, but after one, so that the flounces turn out more airy.

Advice! To work with ribbon yarn, it is better to take large knitting needles, then the thread does not run away when knitting!

Finally, useful tips for caring for products made from ribbon yarn:

  1. It is not recommended to wash items knitted from ribbon yarn in a machine; they will completely lose their shape and textured appearance.
  2. After washing, do not wring it out, but rather carefully lay it out on a flat, dry towel.
  3. You should not iron it or do it very carefully, but in this case it is better to use water steam.
  4. It is strictly not recommended to unravel items made from ribbon yarn; the item will be damaged and the thread cannot be returned to its original state.

Many magical creative evenings to all needlewomen!

Small photos of a scarf knitting tutorial

Good afternoon.
Today I want to show you another scarf made from fancy yarn.
It's not very warm, but it's bright decoration for early autumn.

1. For such a scarf you will need ribbon yarn with a large mesh. You can take Flamenko from Yarn Art or Dantell from Alize.

2. This yarn is more like a ribbon of openwork fabric than thread. And, at first glance, it causes bewilderment: how to knit from it?

4. When knitting, the upper edge of the strip is used as a thread. The rest forms frills.

For the first row, simply cast on the required number of stitches on the knitting needles. You can dial into each cell, or you can dial through one. In this case, the scarf will be more wavy. My scarf requires 8 loops.

5. Turn the knitting needles, remove the first ash and begin knitting, threading the mesh cell (green arrow) into the loop on the knitting needle (blue arrow). We knit all rows with facial loops.

6. If you knit by threading each cell (as in the photo above), the scarf will be quite smooth. To make the ruffles more magnificent, you can knit every even row not in each cell, but through one.

7. Continue knitting until you get a scarf of the desired length. One skein of thread (100 grams) is just enough for a scarf.

8. Secure the end of the thread with a knot. Shake the scarf thoroughly, pull the frills in different directions so that the loops are aligned.

9. The scarf is ready.
