Roman Simakov died after the battle. Boxer's death raises questions

On December 8 at night in Yekaterinburg, the famous Kemrovsky light heavyweight Roman Simakov died.

The 27-year-old boxer fell into a coma on December 5 after losing a fight by technical knockout in the seventh round, and died without regaining consciousness. Roman was operated on, but ultimately the doctors were powerless.

He died on December 8, at 10:45 a.m. Roman Simakov died without regaining consciousness. According to preliminary data, the cause of the man’s death was severe traumatic brain injury and brain contusion.
Based on this fact, the investigative department for the Chkalovsky district of the city of Yekaterinburg of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Sverdlovsk Region organized a pre-investigation check. The issue of ordering a forensic medical examination of the deceased in order to determine the exact cause of death is currently being resolved. During the inspection, eyewitnesses of the incident will be interviewed and other verification activities will be carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident. Based on the results of the inspection, the investigative authorities will make a procedural decision.

Sergey Kovalev, a couple of days later, in an interview with a Soviet Sport correspondent, again commented on the outcome of a recent professional fight against Roman Simakov.

Let us remind you that the tragedy happened on December 5 in Yekaterinburg at a boxing show at the Palace of Team Sports. The fight for the Asian champion title - Roman Simakov (Kemerovo, 27 years old, 19 fights, 9 knockouts, one defeat) - Sergey Kovalev (Chelyabinsk, 28 years old, 16 fights, 14 knockouts) was stopped in the seventh round. The Kemerovo resident lost consciousness and was taken out of the ring on a stretcher. Two days later he died in the hospital without leaving a coma. The doctors performed an operation. The preliminary diagnosis of death is bruise and cerebral edema. An investigation team has been created to conduct an official investigation into the incident.

“I believe there were prerequisites for such a tragic outcome,” Sergey Kovalev comments on the fight. - Roman at one time was the European amateur champion, and in professional boxing he was the owner of the Asian champion title. In that battle, I fought to take this title away from him...

Even at the weigh-in, on the eve of the fight, I noticed that Roman’s eyes were somehow unnaturally red, like those of a sick person. Maybe he was losing weight, or had some other problems. But he was allowed to fight, so everything is fine...

Already in the third round I felt that something was wrong with Roman. Somewhat sluggish, slow reaction. He missed a lot of punches in the second round. Maybe that’s why it “floated”. I look - the judges, coaches and seconds are silent. So you can continue the fight. The advantage was clearly on my side.

Sometimes I let Roman “miss” a little so that the fight would not be “one-wicket”. I think that Roman had no chance of winning.

In the fourth round I hurt my finger a little, so I didn’t really hit much invested. He kept his distance more. I also thought why the seconds didn’t throw in the towel, since everything had actually already been decided.

In the seventh round, about five seconds before Roman fell, I saw that he was already poorly oriented in space. I wanted to hit him in the liver, but the blow landed on his elbow. He fell to the floor. He didn't fall because of the blow. I could have guessed everything, but to such an extent...

Later, boxers from Yekaterinburg told me that the Kemerovo resident boxed like this throughout his life. In every battle he endured, counting on one precise, devastating blow - as they say, “he closed his eyes and hit.” Sometimes he was lucky. Other boxers said that Simakov at one time had bans on participation in fights. Then they seemed to let him in again...

I would like to apologize once again for the fact that everything turned out so tragically to Roman himself and, of course, to his parents, fiancee and everyone to whom he was dear. God knows, I didn’t want this and didn’t strive for such an outcome. I did only what I was taught and what I could do. My deepest condolences to all Roma’s family and friends. He was an excellent Fighter and Person.

Sergey Kovalev commented on his fight with 27-year-old Roman Simakov in his blog on Vringe.com.

« Hi all. I want to comment on the fight itself with Roman Simakov. As you all saw for yourself, the meeting started quite smoothly and cautiously, only in the second round did I start to do better than in the first. In the middle of the fourth round, I injured my left thumb, which had been operated on four years ago, and slowed down the pace, allowing Roman to swing and also somehow become more active.

After a successful attack in the sixth round, after which Roma was knocked down, I thought that he would no longer continue the fight. In any case, I really wanted this, because he had already missed a lot of blows before, and my finger also felt pain with every blow to the left. To be honest, I was surprised by Roma’s stamina, patience and character when he stood up and decided to continue the fight.

If you carefully look at the recording of the fight again, you will see that in the seventh round I did not land a single blow to Roman’s head and did not even invest in them, but simply easily threw my hands away. And only when Roma backed away did I try to punch him in the body with a left from below, but hit his forearm. It is absolutely clear that Roman “broke” not from the blow.

I, of course, was glad of my victory, but then I did not yet know that a misfortune had happened to him. At that moment I thought that Roma had finally made the right decision and refused to continue the fight. When I came down from the ring and went to Roman, he was no longer in the locker room. He was taken to the hospital... He was an excellent Fighter and Person. Eternal memory to him.

We tried with our manager to contact his parents, but they don’t want to talk to us. I understand them perfectly, I understand their condition, because they lost their son. My manager bought them tickets from Kemerovo to Yekaterinburg.

As I was informed, the parents did not have time to say goodbye to Roman - their plane landed 30 minutes later. After Roman died.

My next fight, if I ever get into the ring again, will be dedicated to Roman. And the fee that I receive for him will be transferred to his parents in honor of Roman’s memory. Forgive me, Romka, and rest in peace....»

In an interview with a “Championship” correspondent, Kovalev commented on this fight:

“I did not set myself the task of suppressing Simakov due to the high tempo; on the contrary, I tried to work measuredly, in my usual manner. I did not plan tactics for the fight in advance, I decided to act according to the situation. I had seen several of Roman’s fights, so I had an idea about him. In the fourth round, I injured a recently operated finger on my left hand, as a result of which I was forced to slow down and allow my opponent to miss. Something happened to Simakov, I didn’t understand what exactly. At that moment when he “broke” at the ropes ", I hit him either in the hand or in the forearm. There was no blow to the head as such. The blow was solid in about ten seconds, but even that, in my opinion, was not so crushing," said Kovalev.

The fight took place on the site of the Palace of Game Sports in the city of Yekaterinburg. On this day Simakov defended his WBC Asian Boxing Council championship belt in a fight against Sergei Kovalev. For Roman, whose name was ranked tenth in the WBC light heavyweight rankings, winning the fight should have been a serious step in moving towards a fight for the world title. As the Allboxing.ru resource wrote, for the 28-year-old Kovalev, who had no defeats in the professional ring, the meeting should have been rather symbolic in nature - this was only the second fight in his career, which he fought in Russia. He spent all his other fights in the USA, where he currently lives and trains. However, the fight ended unpredictably.

The fight, scheduled for 12 rounds, ended in the seventh. After another attack by Kovalev, Simakov found himself severely knocked out, after which he was urgently taken to the hospital. Doctors operated on him, removing the hematoma. But, despite all the efforts of the doctors, the athlete fell into a coma, and died tonight without regaining consciousness.

During his life, Roman fought 22 fights, of which he won 19 (nine by knockout), lost one and tied one. The 22nd fight was his last.

According to experts, the cause of Roman’s death was not the technical knockout itself. From the second round, the guy began to miss his opponent’s blows, which also landed on the head. In the sixth round, the Siberian no longer had the strength to resist: his opponent knocked him down. According to Life News, a hook in the seventh round simply finished off Simakov.

Doctors are confident that all the blows during the fight, one after another, led to hemorrhage and swelling of the brain.

"Boxers, take care of yourselves"

The death of the famous Russian light heavyweight Roman Simakov after the fight shocked his colleagues. A famous boxer from St. Petersburg also commented on the death of the athlete Nikolay Valuev.

In his microblog on Twitter, he wrote: “Don’t envy professional athletes, they lose their health, sometimes their lives, Roman is the kingdom of heaven... Boxers, take care of yourselves.”

The athlete's promoter called the incident a big tragedy. German Titov. According to him, he intends to support the boxer's family.

“If I remain working in this area, then every year we will hold a boxing tournament in memory of Roman Simakov, all proceeds from which will be transferred to Roman’s family,” he told the R-Sport agency.

The fact that before a fight doctors should examine fighters more carefully, said a sports commentator and State Duma deputy Oleg Zholobov. According to the deputy, such incidents need to “not just be talked about, but the bells must be rung.”

“Doctors and trainers must treat medical certificates carefully. Certificate – health passport. And if it is not in order, it is forged, the athlete not only fails himself, but also puts many others at risk,” the portal ER.Ru quotes him as saying.

The governor of the Kemerovo region, Aman Tuleyev, also expressed condolences to the relatives of the deceased today. As the press service of the regional administration told reporters, on behalf of Tuleyev, the athlete’s family will be provided with financial assistance.

“God knows, I didn’t wish this on him.”

Boxer Sergei Kovalev cannot believe such a tragic ending to the fight.

The 28-year-old Russian light heavyweight, speaking to reporters, said that he did not set himself the task of suppressing Simakov due to a high pace; on the contrary, he tried to work measuredly, in his usual manner.

As the boxer told the Championship.com portal, he did not plan tactics for the fight in advance, he decided to act according to the situation.

“I saw several of Roman’s fights, so I had an idea about him. In the fourth round, I injured a recently operated finger on my left hand, as a result of which I was forced to slow down and give my opponent the opportunity to swing. Something happened to Simakov, I didn’t understand what exactly. At the moment when he “broke” at the ropes, I hit him either in the hand or in the forearm. There was no blow to the head as such. The solid blow happened in about ten seconds, but even that, in my opinion, was not so crushing,” he said.

On his website, even before the terrible news of Roman’s death arrived, Kovalev wrote that he was very worried about what happened.

“I’m very worried about this, I feel very sorry for him, I pray for him that he will pull through. On Tuesday evening I returned to Chelyabinsk and today my wife Natalya and I went to church, lit candles and ordered the priest’s prayer for his health. I sincerely apologize to Roma’s relatives, God knows, I didn’t wish this on him,” the boxer wrote on Wednesday evening.

Investigation of the case

The Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee for the Sverdlovsk Region reports that a pre-investigation investigation has been launched into the death of Simakov, based on the results of which a procedural decision will be made. The issue of ordering a forensic medical examination of the body to determine the exact cause of death is also being decided.

According to preliminary information, the athlete will be buried in his hometown in Kemerovo.

Doctors fought for the life of Roman Simakov for three days. Chelyabinsk boxer Sergei Kovalev apologized to Roman’s relatives for his death.

Straight from the ring, in a comatose state, the boxer was sent to the intensive care unit of the Yekaterinburg City Clinical Hospital, where he urgently underwent craniotomy and a large hematoma was removed. But, despite all the efforts of the doctors, the athlete died 3 days later without regaining consciousness.

As reported by the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Sverdlovsk Region, a pre-investigation check is being carried out into the death of the athlete, Vesti reports.

“According to the data available at this time, the cause of Roman Simakov’s death was severe traumatic brain injury and brain contusion. A pre-investigation check has been organized into the man’s death. Eyewitnesses are being interviewed. The issue of ordering a forensic medical examination of the deceased in order to determine the exact cause of death is being decided,” - said Alexander Shulga, press secretary of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee for the Sverdlovsk Region.

The 28-year-old rival of the Kemerovo boxer Sergei Kovalev is very worried about the tragedy that happened and even upon returning to Chelyabinsk, together with his wife Natalya, they went to church to light candles and pray for Roman’s health. But alas, the miracle did not happen...

I sincerely apologize to Roma’s relatives, God knows, I didn’t wish this for him,” Sergei Kovalev wrote on his official website.

In an interview given to one of the sports publications, Sergey Kovalev says that something happened to his opponent even before the knockout, which decided the outcome of the fight.

Something happened to Simakov, I didn’t understand what exactly. At the moment when he “broke” at the ropes, I hit him either in the hand or in the forearm. There was no blow to the head as such. The solid blow came in about ten seconds, but even that, in my opinion, was not so crushing,” KP quotes Kovalev as saying.

The fiancee of the deceased boxer, Yulia, confirmed Sergei’s words to the publication. According to the girl, who referred to doctors, Roman’s brain hemorrhage began in the second round, which is why he boxed so awkwardly in the remaining time. She, like everyone else, is perplexed why Roman’s seconds, seeing his condition, did not stop the fight.

Death in the ring

A fight with Chelyabinsk resident Sergei Kovalev for the WBC Asian light heavyweight champion belt was planned for December 5, 2011 in Yekaterinburg.

Kovalev arrived in Yekaterinburg on Saturday, December 3. All participants of the upcoming boxing evening were accommodated at the RAMADA hotel. The next day the weigh-in took place at the Alatyr shopping and entertainment complex. At the weigh-in, it was announced that the fight would be broadcast live on the Rossiya-2 TV channel. Kostya Tszyu spoke at the weigh-in, inviting all residents of the city to watch the fight.

The battle

On December 5, the battle began as planned. Kovalev, in his blog on vringe.com, described the upcoming fight as follows:

I didn’t have a special plan for the fight: I decided that I would build on the situation, in other words, improvise as the fight progressed. We haven’t met Roma before, although we boxed in the same weight category as amateurs.

Kovalev dominated throughout the fight. Roman missed a lot of strong blows. At 58 seconds of the 7th round, Roman fell and the referee stopped the fight. Roman stood up, but his legs immediately gave way and he managed to grab the ropes. A few seconds later, the 27-year-old boxer lost consciousness. He was taken away from the ring on a stretcher and urgently taken to the central city hospital No. 24 in Yekaterinburg. As it turned out at the hospital, Roman fell into a coma. Kovalev was awarded the victory by technical knockout.

December 5-7

An emergency craniotomy was performed and a large subdural hematoma was removed on the right. But Simakov was still in extremely serious condition. At the site of the removed hematoma, constant hemorrhagic impregnation occurred, in other words, hemorrhage into the brain. The operation lasted seven hours.

December 8

Having learned about the coma, Kovalev wrote in his blog on December 8 (10:20 a.m.) under the heading “The price of the title was very high...”:
“I’m very worried about this, I feel very sorry for him. I pray he makes it through. On Tuesday evening I returned to Chelyabinsk, and on Wednesday my wife Natalya and I went to church, lit candles and ordered a prayer to the priest for his health. I offer my sincere apologies to Roma’s relatives - God knows, I didn’t wish this on him. Hang in there, Roman!!! Well, I, in turn, want to express my gratitude to all the fans who came to support me, and especially to all my friends who came to boxing from Chelyabinsk. Thank you very much, friends. Now I’ll take a couple of months off from boxing and spend them in my native Chelyabinsk to gain new strength for the next fruitful year.”

Literally 25 minutes later (10 hours 45 minutes), despite the measures taken by doctors, Roman Simakov, without regaining consciousness, died in the central city hospital No. 24 of Yekaterinburg.

The parents did not have time to say goodbye to Roman - their plane landed 30 minutes later, after Roman died.

According to preliminary data, the cause of death was severe traumatic brain injury and brain contusion.

After the tragedy

“In this blog entry I want to comment on the fight itself with Roman Simakov.

On February 10, 2012, Kovalev wrote in his blog under the heading “Flew to a training camp in America”:

"Hi all! Well, my vacation is over, which I spent in my homeland, in my native Chelyabinsk, after the tragic outcome of the fight on December 5, 2011 between me and Roman Simakov. After what happened, I didn’t have much desire to get into the ring again, but as they say, “time heals,” and two days ago I started training again. My vacation lasted quite long and intensely, two whole months. He managed to stay with all his relatives, then he himself hosted them, flooded the bathhouse for them. Celebrated the New Year 2012. In general, everything was like home. After the fight with Roman Simakov, the promotion company Main Events showed interest in me, so their desire and opportunity to organize a fight for me with a stronger and more serious opponent compared to those before.”

Memory

In February 2013, Simakov's friends ordered gloves made of stone, which will be placed on the tombstone. They are made from the gloves in which Roman fought on that fateful day for him - December 5, 2011.

On July 11, 2016, WBA/WBO/IBF world light heavyweight boxing champion Sergey Kovalev, who defeated Malawian Isaac Chilemba, announced that he would give his entire fee, which was at least one million dollars, to the parents of Roman Simakov, who died five years ago. after their fight.

Excerpt characterizing Simakov, Roman Nikolaevich

– Well, these are different “worlds” where the essences of the dead live... In the most beautiful and highest live those who were good... and, probably, the strongest too.
- People like you? – I asked, smiling.
- Oh, no, of course! I probably got here by mistake. – The girl said completely sincerely. – Do you know what’s most interesting? From this “floor” we can walk everywhere, but from the others no one can get here... Isn’t that interesting?..
Yes, it was very strange and very excitingly interesting for my “starved” brain, and I really wanted to know more!.. Maybe because until that day no one had ever really explained anything to me, but just sometimes someone - gave (like, for example, my “star friends”), and therefore, even such a simple childish explanation already made me unusually happy and made me delve even more furiously into my experiments, conclusions and mistakes... as usual, finding in everything that was happening even more unclear. My problem was that I could do or create “unusual” very easily, but the whole problem was that I also wanted to understand how I create it all... And this is precisely what I have not been very successful in yet ...
– What about the other “floors”? Do you know how many there are? Are they completely different, unlike this one?.. – unable to stop, I impatiently bombarded Stella with questions.
- Oh, I promise you, we will definitely go there for a walk! You will see how interesting it is there!.. Only there it is also dangerous, especially in one place. There are such monsters walking around there!.. And the people are not very nice either.
“I think I’ve already seen similar monsters,” I said, not very confidently, remembering something. - Look...
And I tried to show her the first astral creatures I met in my life, who attacked baby Vesta’s drunken dad.
- Oh, so these are the same! Where did you see them? On the ground?!..
- Well, yes, they came when I was helping one good little girl say goodbye to her dad...
“So they come to the living too?..” my friend was very surprised.
– I don’t know, Stella. I still know almost nothing at all... And I would really like not to walk in the dark and not learn everything only by “touch”... or from my own experience, when they constantly “hit me on the head” for it... What do you think , your grandmother wouldn’t have taught me something?..
– I don’t know... You should probably ask her about it yourself?
The girl thought deeply about something, then laughed loudly and said cheerfully:
– It was so funny when I just started “creating”!!! Oh, you would know how funny and amusing it was!.. At the beginning, when everyone “left” me, I was very sad, and I cried a lot... I didn’t know where they were, my mother and my brother. .. I didn’t know anything yet. That’s when, apparently, my grandmother felt sorry for me and she began to teach me a little. And... oh, what happened!.. At first I constantly fell through somewhere, created everything “topsy-turvy” and my grandmother had to watch me almost all the time. And then I learned... It’s even a pity, because now she comes less often... and I’m afraid that maybe someday she won’t come at all...
For the first time I saw how sad this little lonely girl was sometimes, despite all these amazing worlds she created!.. And no matter how happy and kind she was “from birth,” she was still just a very small, all family of an unexpectedly abandoned child, who was terrified that her only loved one - her grandmother - would also one day leave her...
- Oh, please don’t think so! – I exclaimed. - She loves you so much! And she will never leave you.
- No... she said that we all have our own lives, and we must live it the way each of us is destined... It's sad, isn't it?
But Stella, apparently, simply could not remain in a sad state for a long time, since her face lit up joyfully again, and she asked in a completely different voice:
- Well, shall we continue watching or have you already forgotten everything?
- Well, of course we will! – as if I had just woken up from a dream, I answered more readily now.
I couldn’t yet say with confidence that I even truly understood anything. But it was incredibly interesting, and some of Stella’s actions were already becoming more understandable than they were at the very beginning. The little girl concentrated for a second, and we found ourselves in France again, as if starting from exactly the same moment where we had recently stopped... Again there was the same rich crew and the same beautiful couple who couldn’t think of anything come to an agreement... Finally, completely desperate to prove something to his young and capricious lady, the young man leaned back in the rhythmically swaying seat and said sadly:
- Well, if it’s your way, Margarita, I don’t ask for your help anymore... Although, only God knows who else could help me see Her?.. The only thing I don’t understand is when did you manage to do so? change?.. And does this mean that we are not friends now?
The girl just smiled sparingly and turned back to the window... She was very beautiful, but it was a cruel, cold beauty. The impatient and, at the same time, bored expression frozen in her radiant blue eyes perfectly showed how much she wanted to end this protracted conversation as quickly as possible.
The carriage stopped near a beautiful large house, and she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
- Goodbye, Axel! – she easily fluttered out and said coldly in a secular way. - And let me finally give you some good advice - stop being a romantic, you are no longer a child!..
The crew set off. A young man named Axel looked steadily at the road and sadly whispered to himself:
– My cheerful “daisy”, what happened to you?.. Is this really all that remains of us, having grown up?!..
The vision disappeared and another one appeared... It was still the same young man named Axel, but around him lived a completely different “reality”, stunning in its beauty, which was more like some kind of unreal, implausible dream...
Thousands of candles sparkled dizzyingly in the huge mirrors of some fairy-tale hall. Apparently, it was someone’s very rich palace, perhaps even a royal one... An incredible number of “to the nines” dressed guests stood, sat and walked in this wonderful hall, smiling dazzlingly at each other and, from time to time, as one , looking back at the heavy, gilded door, expecting something. Somewhere music was playing quietly, lovely ladies, one more beautiful than the other, fluttered like multi-colored butterflies under the admiring glances of equally stunningly dressed men. Everything around sparkled, sparkled, shone with reflections of a variety of precious stones, silks rustled softly, huge intricate wigs strewn with fabulous flowers swayed coquettishly...
Axel stood leaning against a marble column and with an absent look watched all this brilliant, bright crowd, remaining completely indifferent to all its charms, and it was felt that, just like everyone else, he was waiting for something.
Finally, everything around began to move, and this entire magnificently dressed crowd, as if by magic, divided into two parts, forming a very wide, “ballroom” passage exactly in the middle. And an absolutely stunning woman was slowly moving along this aisle... Or rather, a couple was moving, but the man next to her was so simple-minded and inconspicuous that, despite his magnificent clothes, his whole appearance simply faded away next to his stunning partner.
The beautiful lady looked like spring - her blue dress was entirely embroidered with fancy birds of paradise and amazing silver-pink flowers, and whole garlands of real fresh flowers rested in a fragile pink cloud on her silky, intricately styled, ashen hair. Many threads of delicate pearls wrapped around her long neck and literally glowed, set off by the extraordinary whiteness of her amazing skin. Huge sparkling blue eyes looked welcomingly at the people around her. She smiled happily and was stunningly beautiful....

Right there, standing apart from everyone, Axel was literally transformed!.. The bored young man disappeared somewhere, in the blink of an eye, and in his place... stood the living embodiment of the most beautiful feelings on earth, who literally “devoured” him with a flaming gaze. a beautiful lady approaching him...
“Oh-oh... how beautiful she is!..” Stella breathed out enthusiastically. – She is always so beautiful!..
- What, have you seen her many times? – I asked interestedly.
- Oh yeah! I go look at her very often. She's like spring, isn't she?
- And you know her?.. Do you know who she is?
“Of course!.. She is a very unhappy queen,” the little girl became a little sad.
- Why unhappy? Looks like she’s very happy to me,” I was surprised.
“This is just now... And then she will die... She will die very scary - they will cut off her head... But I don’t like to watch that,” Stella whispered sadly.
Meanwhile, the beautiful lady caught up with our young Axel and, seeing him, froze for a moment in surprise, and then, blushing charmingly, smiled at him very sweetly. For some reason, I had the impression that the world froze for a moment around these two people... As if for a very short moment there was nothing and no one around for them except the two of them... But the lady moved on , and the magical moment fell apart into thousands of short moments that wove between these two people into a strong sparkling thread, never to let them go...
Axel stood completely stunned and, again not noticing anyone around, looked after his beautiful lady, and his conquered heart slowly left with her... He did not notice the looks of the passing young beauties looking at him, and did not respond to their shining, inviting smiles.

Count Axel Fersen Marie Antoinette

As a person, Axel was, as they say, “both inside and out” very attractive. He was tall and graceful, with huge serious gray eyes, always amiable, reserved and modest, which attracted both women and men equally. His correct, serious face rarely lit up with a smile, but if this happened, then at such a moment Axel became simply irresistible... Therefore, it was completely natural for the charming female half to intensify the attention towards him, but, to their common regret, Axel was only interested in there is only one creature in the whole wide world - its irresistible, beautiful queen...
– Will they be together? – I couldn’t stand it. - They are both so beautiful!..
Stella just smiled sadly and immediately plunged us into the next “episode” of this unusual and somehow very touching story...
We found ourselves in a very cozy, flower-scented, small summer garden. All around, as far as the eye could see, there was a magnificent green park, decorated with many statues, and in the distance a stunningly huge stone palace, looking like a small city, could be seen. And among all this “grandiose”, slightly oppressive, surrounding grandeur, only this garden, completely protected from prying eyes, created a feeling of real comfort and some kind of warm, “homely” beauty...
Intensified by the warmth of the summer evening, the dizzyingly sweet smells of blooming acacias, roses and something else that I could not identify were in the air. Above the clear surface of the small pond, as if in a mirror, huge cups of soft pink water lilies and the snow-white “fur coats” of lazy, royal swans, ready for sleep, were reflected. A beautiful young couple was walking along a small, narrow path around a pond. Somewhere in the distance, music was heard, cheerful female laughter shimmered like bells, the joyful voices of many people sounded, and only for these two the world stopped right here, in this small corner of the earth, where at that moment the gentle voices of birds sounded only for them; only for them a playful, light breeze rustled in the rose petals; and only for them, for a moment, time helpfully stopped, giving them the opportunity to be alone - just a man and a woman who came here to say goodbye, not even knowing whether it would be forever...
The lady was charming and somehow “airy” in her modest, white summer dress, embroidered with small green flowers. Her wonderful ashen hair was tied back with a green ribbon, which made her look like a lovely forest fairy. She looked so young, pure and modest that I did not immediately recognize in her the majestic and brilliant beauty of the queen whom I had seen just a few minutes ago in all her magnificent “ceremonial” beauty.

French Queen Marie Antoinette

Next to her, not taking his eyes off her and catching her every move, walked “our friend” Axel. He seemed very happy and, at the same time, for some reason deeply sad... The Queen lightly took his arm and gently asked:
- But what about me, I will miss you so much, my dear friend? Time moves too slowly when you're so far away...
- Your Majesty, why torture me?.. You know why all this is... And you know how hard it is for me to leave you! I have managed to avoid unwanted marriages twice already, but my father does not lose hope of marrying me... He does not like rumors about my love for you. Yes, and I don’t like them, I can’t, I don’t have the right to harm you. Oh, if only I could be close to you!.. To see you, to touch you... How hard it is for me to leave!.. And I am so afraid for you...
– Go to Italy, my friend, they will be waiting for you there. Just don't stay long! I’ll be waiting for you too...” the queen said, smiling affectionately.
Axel fell with a long kiss to her graceful hand, and when he raised his eyes, there was so much love and anxiety in them that the poor queen, unable to bear it, exclaimed:
- Oh, don't worry, my friend! I am so well protected here that even if I wanted to, nothing could happen to me! Travel with God and come back soon...
Axel looked at her beautiful and so dear face for a long time, as if absorbing every feature and trying to keep this moment in his heart forever, and then bowed low to her and quickly walked along the path to the exit, without turning around and without stopping, as if afraid that if he turns around, he simply won’t have enough strength to leave...
And she saw him off with the suddenly moist gaze of her huge blue eyes, in which the deepest sadness lay hidden... She was a queen and had no right to love him. But she was also just a woman whose heart completely belonged to this pure, brave man forever... without asking anyone for permission...
- Oh, how sad it is, isn’t it? – Stella whispered quietly. – How I would like to help them!..
– Do they really need someone’s help? – I was surprised.
Stella just nodded her curly head, without saying a word, and again began showing a new episode... I was very surprised by her deep involvement in this charming story, which so far seemed to me just a very sweet story of someone's love. But since I already knew well the responsiveness and kindness of Stella’s big heart, somewhere in the depths of my soul I was almost sure that everything would probably not be as simple as it seemed at first, and I could only wait...
