Men's Style Basics: T-Shirts

He touched on the topic of matching clothing sizes and how this affects the whole image. I briefly touched on the issue of T-shirts. In this topic, I would like to give a more detailed answer, since this topic deserves a separate consideration. Why? Mainly because T-shirts are a very common wardrobe item (who doesn't have them?). Before I start, I would like to clarify that we are talking specifically about T-shirts, which are an independent part of any outfit, and not about those T-shirts that are usually worn as underwear.

The T-shirts I'm going to talk about are simple cottons in a variety of colors and styles that can be found in just about any good clothing store. The reason why I consider T-shirts to be one of the most important elements of a wardrobe is because they are universal: any man feels comfortable wearing a T-shirt. In addition, if you choose the right style, a T-shirt can perfectly complement even a classic outfit.

Types of T-shirts (classification by cut):

Boat neckline or round collar.

T-shirts with this neckline are most popular with men. I am 100 percent sure that most people reading this post have such a T-shirt. They are great for creating layered looks with sweaters, cardigans, shirts, and even other tees.

V-neck

Hot trend of the outgoing season. I advise a beginner not to get carried away with the depth of the cutout. Sometimes, a few extra centimeters exposing your breasts can ruin not only the impression of the whole outfit, but also of you. While this neckline is a godsend overall, it opens up the neck and makes the look relaxed. From a physiological point of view, a V-neckline is suitable for men with a wide chin. Gray, black and white are the main colors for a basic wardrobe. T-shirts in these colors can be worn with anything.

Y-neck, or grandfather style neckline

Historical reference

T-shirts with a Y-neck are also called "henley". They got this name thanks to the rowers of one of the cities of England, Henley-on-Tamse, who had similar T-shirts in uniforms.

This year's trend. I note that this version of T-shirts is for guys who have skills in the ability to combine clothes, as well as for trendsetters. The henley has a small buttoned section just below the neckline, ending at the chest. T-shirts are universal and suitable for creating multi-layered looks: button up all the buttons - the collar becomes round (boat neckline), button up not to the end - here's the V-neck for you.

How to wear

Depending on your personal preference, or perhaps your mood, there are an infinite number of t-shirt outfits to choose from. For example, a T-shirt can be a basic part of your outfit or an element that will bring attention to other parts of the outfit. In the latter case, you can, for example, wear a monochrome T-shirt under a blazer or a plaid shirt. Alternatively, a simple monochrome outfit can be spiced up with a brightly colored T-shirt and maybe even a print.

Here are some great ways to wear a T-shirt.

If you prefer not to button the top or bottom of your shirt, try pairing with a V-neck T-shirt.

2. Use boat neck T-shirts as a bright accent in your everyday outfits, especially in winter. The standard everyday look for the cold, which looks stylish and at the same time as if you were dressing without thinking, consists of a pair of light blue jeans, a black V-neck jumper over a tee with a boat collar in red, purple or green. Also, a good combination of gray or navy chinos with a gray jumper and a boat neck T-shirt in blue, pink or purple colors.

Simpler combinations of clothes in neutral shades are also possible.

3. Stylish means simple! This is actually the case. Wear a simple T-shirt with jeans and play with this look. In no case, do not forget that the clothes must fit. A piece that fits well can create a truly great effect. The so-called oversized T-shirts in this case will turn the outfit into a sheer nightmare. Of course, the look from a simple T-shirt and jeans is not the most fashionable, but you can make it relevant with the help of, for example, a pair of rough boots or hi-tops, combined with jeans. Throwing a mac-type jacket over a T-shirt or military jacket, you will perfectly beat the top.

4. Layering is a good option for the warm season. Possible combinations: a T-shirt with a boat neck under a T-shirt with a V-neck, or a T-shirt with a V-neck under a T-shirt with a Y-neck, or two T-shirts with a boat neck ... You can combine endlessly. Experiment, mix. The same applies to colors. Pair your mix with your favorite jeans or a neutral-hued blazer (neutral shades - navy, black or gray) for a formal look when needed.
