Soon she turned into Big City and took its place among the main trade, craft and agricultural centers of ancient Taurida.

“Little Jerusalem” - history and facts

In the 2nd century BC. e. Kerkinitis was captured by the warlike Scythians, and at the end of the same century the city came into the possession of Mithridates Eupator, the powerful Pontic king. In the 4th century, the city was ravaged and burned by nomadic tribes of the Huns. It lay in ruins for several centuries and was revived only in the 13th century. Hello all travelers!

Today I want to tell you about one of the most popular resorts in Crimea and a children's recreation center on the peninsula - the city of Yevpatoria.

During our trip across Crimea, we spent the most time in Yevpatoria, walking around the city, sunbathing on sandy beaches, and observing the life of the city. So today I suggest you take a short walk around Yevpatoria, find out why it is popular with tourists, and see.

Business card city - the central part of the embankment named after. Gorky:

Evpatoria is a very old city, its history goes back more than 2500 years! Once upon a time it was an ancient Greek settlement called Kerkinitida. During the time of the Crimean Khanate, the city was called Kezlev (the Turks called it Gezlev), and after Crimea became part of Russian Empire the city was renamed Yevpatoria.

The city's population is slightly more than 100 thousand people, but during the holiday season this figure increases significantly due to the large influx of tourists. Nowadays, Evpatoria is primarily a resort town, where most of the infrastructure is designed specifically for tourists. And especially on children's holiday, for which all conditions are created here.

In addition to the famous sandy beaches, Evpatoria is also popular thanks to the surrounding lakes with healing mud. For example, which we also visited while vacationing in Evpatoria. Its mud is widely used in local hospitals, but anyone can visit Lake Moinaki and use its mud absolutely free.

Evpatoria attracts tourists with its sandy beaches with a very convenient entrance to the sea:

I don’t really like lying on the beach for a long time, but in Evpatoria we still spent a couple of days on the beach, enjoying the gentle Crimean sun.

Beach in Evpatoria:

A short video: the beach in Evpatoria in May 2015, 10 am:

In Evpatoria there are very interesting place, where within a radius of 100 meters from each other are located Orthodox church, mosque and Jewish synagogue. This is what true tolerance and religious tolerance mean! This is a very popular route among tourists. The temple and mosque are located on Revolution Street, next to Primorskaya Square and the embankment named after. Tereshkova.

Cathedral of St. Nicholas:

Restoration work is going on inside, but the temple is still open to believers:

Juma Khan Jami Mosque:

The mosque has a history of almost 500 years:

Near the cathedral and mosque there are always a lot of organized tourist groups on large buses or on these excursion cars:

Streets of the old town in Evpatoria:

Of course, Evpatoria is a great place to relax for both the whole family and single tourists. It’s worth saying that a lot here depends on seasonality. We vacationed in Yevpatoria in May and at that time the season had not yet begun, so some cafes, restaurants and shops were still closed for tourists, and the water park was not working (for Crimeans it is believed that +23-25 degrees is still cold), where Repairs were in full swing, and many paid beaches were not working. There weren’t very many tourists yet (the situation in Ukraine also had an impact), but on the other hand, for many this was a positive thing.

This is how we ended up walking around Evpatoria. I think that many who have been to Yevpatoria have something to add about this city. Then welcome to the comments...

You can also plot the route manually, armed with a map, pencil and ruler. But if you find yourself on the route planner page, then another, often more convenient option is possible - planning a route online, one of which is offered to you on our site.

There are two types of route planning: manual and automatic.

  • When laying manually, you put a number of points on the map that form an arbitrary route.
  • With automatic compilation, you need to specify the starting and ending points, and our service itself will plot the optimal route, calculating the shortest path taking into account the rules traffic and the current traffic situation.

On the compiled route you will see everything car roads and nearby intersections, which will be very useful for motorists and travelers. A map with a route in the city of Evpatoria will allow you to plan your route and prevent you from getting lost in an unfamiliar place.

To create a route on the map of the city of Evpatoria, enter the starting point in the first field of the form presented below and the ending point in the third field. Then indicate how you will travel to your final destination by clicking on the appropriate button - “Car”, “On Foot” or Public Transport.” After that, click on the “Show route” button.
