What does coconut oil from Thailand smell like? Thai coconut oil

There are several varieties of coconut oil in Thailand. One of them can be eaten, while the other is intended exclusively for use for cosmetic purposes.

Types of Coconut Oil

Not every coconut oil can be eaten. It can be refined or unrefined, cold-pressed or subjected to heat treatment with chemicals. Cooking oil is different from cosmetic oil. Edible coconut oil is more commonly sold in grocery stores.

Coconut oil is made from the pulp of mature coconuts using a cold or hot method (pressing). Oil made by cold pressing (Extra Virgin) retains most of the beneficial properties of coconut and is more expensive to produce, which is why it costs more.

Coconut oil from Thailand

Coconut oil is rich in vitamins A, C, E, calcium, phosphorus and contains many fatty acids: lauric, caprylic, arachidonic, myristic, oleic and others. It has a number of useful properties: antifungal, antiviral, antimicrobial.

Roi Thai refined coconut oil

Refined oil has no odor and is ideal for high-temperature processing of products. When heated, this oil does not release carcinogens. It is often used in the production of margarine and creams for confectionery products, as a food additive.

Coconut oil does not contain trans fats and contains medium chain triglycerides (MSFA), which are well absorbed by the body and also prevent the deposition of fats in the human body. They improve metabolism by preventing the growth of viruses and bacteria in the intestines.

Coconut pulp

Oil is stored at room temperature, and at air temperatures below +25 °C, the oil hardens, acquires a white waxy color and thickens. In order for the butter to melt, you need to place the bottle in a warm place, and to speed up the process, place it under running warm water.

Cosmetic coconut oil is used exclusively for its intended purpose. Typically, it is used as body skin care. After sunbathing, coconut oil is applied to clean skin and rubbed in with light movements until absorbed.

It perfectly moisturizes the skin, soothes it after exposure to sunlight and salty sea water. Coconut oil perfectly softens and soothes the skin. For bathing, you can add a little oil to the water.

Coconut palm

There is also mineral coconut oil. It is used only for massage. The cost of such oil is 3-4 times lower than cosmetic oil.

Coconut oil based products, their benefits and harms

It is a misconception that any coconut oil is suitable for use as a tanning product. In fact, only oil with UV protection (SPF 6, SPF 15, etc.) is suitable for these purposes. Ordinary cosmetic oil on the beach will not bring you any benefit, but it can cause harm - the possibility of getting burns increases.

Under the scorching rays of the sun, especially if you are vacationing in Thailand where the sun is very active, regular coconut oil will work about the same as vegetable oil when cooking fish in a frying pan.

Beach holidays in Thailand

Remember that exposure to the sun between 12:00 and 15:00 is most dangerous. It's no secret that sunbathing without skin protection can cause various diseases and even cancer. Be extremely careful when choosing tanning products and do not fall for the tricks of sellers.

Coconut oil is used in the production of shampoos, hair masks, soaps, and creams. Almost all Thai lip balms are produced on its basis, which can be either in the form of lipstick or in various jars. They differ from each other in appearance, manufacturer, color and aroma. Flavors can be: aloe vera, coconut, orange, strawberry, mangosteen, cherry and others.

Coconut oil based lip balm

The color of such a balm usually depends on the aroma (orange - yellow, aloe vera - green, coconut - white). There are also colorless lipsticks, sometimes even with menthol. You can buy them in any supermarket, tourist market, pharmacy or Thai cosmetics store.

Always check the expiration date before using coconut oil. Edible coconut oil is usually stored for 1 year, while cosmetic coconut oil can be stored for up to 2-4 years. Read the ingredients carefully. The higher the quality of cosmetic coconut oil, the lower the likelihood of skin irritation and acne.

You should not apply the oil in its pure form to the skin of the face, as many websites and online stores advise. It is not right. Such use of oil will only cause harm. This product is too heavy for facial skin.

Thai coconut oil

Sometimes coconut oil is used as a hair mask. As they say, it is easier to wash off than burdock, and sometimes 2-3 times. But conducting such experiments without consulting a trichologist is a real roulette. After all, before using such a hair product, you should take into account the regional growth of coconut and the fact that the hair structure of local residents who use coconut oil as a mask and our hair structure are very different. There is no guarantee that such a procedure will be beneficial, and the oil will be washed off from the scalp in a week. Thus, problems are much more likely to occur than benefits. As science says, successful recipes come from experimentation.

There are face creams and hair masks containing coconut oil. You can buy them at any Thai cosmetics store. Beware of fakes, carefully study the manufacturers. The average cost of a hair mask in stores in Thailand is 180-200 THB (Thai baht) for a volume of 500 ml.

What brands of coconut oil are there and what is the difference?

One of the most popular brands in Thailand that produces cosmetic coconut oil and other cosmetics based on it is called “Tropicana”. This is unrefined oil, its color has a yellowish tint, it is without impurities or suspensions.

The yellow color of the oil means that part of the coconut husk was used to extract it, which gives the product its color. This oil can also be eaten. For those who do not want to drink oil in liquid form, the manufacturer Tropicana produces coconut oil in capsule form.

The most inexpensive goods are produced in Thailand under the Banna brand. Under this logo on store shelves (mass market) you can find any cosmetics: creams, scrubs, shampoos, shower gels, coconut oil and others.

Banna Coconut Oil

Oil of the “ThaiPure” brand is more often found in Thai cosmetics stores and markets. The bottles are completely transparent and you can see that the oil is perfectly purified. According to the manufacturer, it can be eaten. Unrefined oil. Bottles come in different sizes (100 ml, 250 ml, 500 ml, 1000 ml), the smallest of them are sold with a dispenser. ThaiPure oil does not have a pronounced coconut aroma.

Coconut oil AgriLife

The best and most popular coconut oil is produced under the AgriLife brand. This is 100% organic, unrefined, extra virgin oil. Products undergo strict quality control in accordance with the standards of international organic product regulation policies. You can buy it at a pharmacy and can sometimes be found in 7-Eleven stores. Suitable for consumption. A 120 ml bottle costs 115 THB (Thai Baht). Available in packaging: 120 ml, 207 ml, 450 ml.

Roi Thai Refined Coconut Oil

Oil of the Roi Thai and Naturel brands is suitable for dressing salads and for cooking at high temperatures (baking, frying, baking). This is 100% refined coconut oil. Usually sold in a 1000 ml bottle and only in grocery stores. Cost - from 110 to 120 THB (Thai baht). This oil, unlike the previous ones, has absolutely no odor, which is important when cooking.

And lastly, the most popular oil in markets and cosmetic stores in Thailand is the oil with the inscription “Coconut Oil” on a blue background at the top of the bottle. Tourists unknowingly purchase it most often. Its popularity is due to its low price, but this oil is an absolute outsider among all. This is not natural, but mineral oil, which the manufacturer honestly writes on the label.

Massage coconut oil

Mineral oil is made from petroleum products, purified and various flavors are added - coconut, strawberry, pineapple, mango, aloe and others. This oil is not only useless, but also dangerous for the skin. Most often it is used for massage, as it is poorly absorbed into the skin and allows you to use a minimal amount of oil for one session. It is recommended to immediately wash off such oil from the skin, otherwise the pores will become clogged and, as a result, acne will occur. But high-quality oil is absorbed into the skin almost immediately and without residue.

To check the naturalness of coconut oil, you need to put it in the refrigerator. As you already know, at temperatures below +25°C, the natural oil thickens and acquires a white, waxy color (the color of coconut pulp). Well-refined oil has a subtle coconut aroma or no odor at all, but a strong aroma indicates that flavorings have most likely been added to the oil.

There are no contraindications to the use of coconut oil, except for individual intolerance.

Coconut oil

One of the oldest herbal medicines in the world.

Four thousand years ago, Ayurveda practitioners knew about the health benefits of coconut oil. In Thailand, it was used for internal and external use, for massage, to strengthen hair and improve facial skin.

Currently, scientists continue to explore the beneficial properties of coconut oil and find out how it can help improve human health.

Maintaining optimal cholesterol levels in the human body.

The ability of natural coconut oil to reduce cholesterol in the human body is achieved due to the lauric acid it contains. An analysis of 60 published scientific studies found that, unlike saturated fatty acids, lauric acid in coconut oil is ideal for maintaining cholesterol levels in the normal range, which was confirmed by measurements of the ratio of total cholesterol to so-called “good” HDL cholesterol. (high density lipoproteins).

*Mensink R.P. et al. “Effects of dietary fatty acids and carbohydrates on the ratio of serum total cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and apolipoproteins: a meta-analysis of 60 controlled studies.” American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. 77(5): 1146-1155, May 2003

Strengthening the immune system.

Breast milk contains lauric acid and some monoglycerides, which support and strengthen the immune system of the newborn baby. T e The same monoglycerides and lauric acid are found in natural coconut oil, due to which it helps strengthen the immune system of an adult.

Normalization of the physiological function of the gastrointestinal tract.

Free fatty acids and monoglycerides contained in natural coconut oil help to improve and maintain the physiological function of the gastrointestinal tract by strengthening the beneficial intestinal microflora.

Pure, natural coconut oil contains no trans fatty acids and is one of the healthiest and safest officially recognized dietary supplements, with no previously known side effects.

Natural premium coconut oil does not require preservatives. It itself has unique antioxidant properties that allow it to stay fresh for a longer period of time compared to other vegetable oils.

Our 100% pure premium coconut oil is proven to be the purest in the world: every step of the process, from growing the coconut trees to transporting the freshly prepared oil, strictly adheres to the requirements set by the Thai Ministry of Agriculture. Absolutely no chemicals are used in the process of growing palm trees and processing coconuts.

Coconuts are harvested at their optimum ripening time by experienced harvesters, without the use of any mechanical or electrical equipment to avoid damage to the fruit.

Removing the shell. The outer layer of the shell is smooth and waterproof. The next layer is fibrous, which allows the coconuts not to sink in water. To remove these two layers, a special device is required, consisting of a flat knife blade mounted on a steel pole. The worker presses the peel onto the blade and peels the skin to the side three times, turning the nut 120 degrees each time in order to free the brown “nut” from its shell.

Peeling the nut. Using tools like a potato peeler, the women remove the last remaining thin brown layer, revealing a moist white ball of fresh, aromatic coconut flesh.

Oil extraction. Before extraction begins, the ball of coconut pulp is washed in purified water, dried and crushed into small fibers. The macerated pulp is then placed in a cylinder, inside which a piston-like plunger forces the mass through a perforated plate, releasing pure, natural coconut oil. Extraction occurs within a few hours of harvesting the coconuts. Raw, unfiltered natural oil retains the taste, smell, and healing properties of fresh, white coconut flesh. It truly is the purest, most natural, premium coconut oil in the world.

It should be emphasized that our oil does not contain dyes or preservatives. Additionally, it does not contain caustic soda, which may be used by other manufacturers to extend the shelf life of coconut oil made from copra, thereby destroying the health-promoting fatty acids.

Cosmetic effect: Coconut oil belongs to the group of lauric oils. This group of oils is characterized by the content of a large amount of saturated fatty acids with carbon atoms 12 and 14 (lauric and myristic), which determines their solid consistency. Consists of triglycerides of short- and medium-chain saturated fatty acids. This determines its property of being quickly absorbed into the skin. With direct massage, it makes the skin “velvety” in just seconds. Has high biological activity and pronounced occlusive properties (forms a protective film on the surface of the skin); protects, softens, smoothes the skin. It has a moisturizing, nourishing, anti-inflammatory effect, and is a wonderful softener. Also valued for its cleansing and foaming properties. Thanks to its complete absorption by cells, the skin becomes soft, tender, tightened, small wrinkles disappear. This oil nourishes the skin and protects it from harmful environmental influences. The oil is suitable for all skin types. The consistency of the oil is not greasy and does not clog pores.

American scientists studied the effect of mineral, sunflower and coconut oil on hair condition. Only coconut oil was found to significantly reduce protein loss from hair during shampooing. The oil worked best if used before and after washing, during combing. The effect of coconut oil is explained by the fact that of all the oils studied, it spread most evenly over the hair, preventing the penetration of water and shampoo into it. A layer of oil on the hair protects the hair fibers from swelling and damage during toweling and combing.Regular use of coconut oil makes hair silky, shiny and thick.

Proper use of coconut oil can bring enormous benefits to the body. Coconut oil is good for hair, face, body. Many people use coconut oil internally, including for medicinal purposes. How to choose coconut oil and what is the difference between good and bad?

Which coconut oil is suitable for the face and body, and which can be taken internally?

How much does coconut oil cost in Thailand, how to find and buy good coconut oil?
Which coconut oil to choose - cold or hot pressed and what is the difference?
How to use coconut oil for cosmetic or medicinal purposes, where you can use coconut oil in general, read!

This article will tell you how to use coconut oil so that it brings maximum benefits.

Coconut oil - cold or hot pressed?

Hot spin

Let's start with the basics. Coconut oil is extracted from the fruit of the coconut palm by hot or cold pressing.

The hot method is faster and more profitable, this way you get more coconut oil, but as a result, a huge part of the beneficial substances is lost, therefore,
Hot-pressed coconut oil is less valuable and provides fewer benefits than cold-pressed (Extra Virgin) coconut oil.

When hot pressed, coconut oil undergoes heat treatment at a temperature of 90 degrees.
At the same time, it is hot-pressed coconut oil that is recommended to be consumed as food, since it is purified and most often refined.

Refining is the removal of impurities from oil that affect color, taste and smell.

Regarding the price of hot pressed coconut oil. Since after coconut oil production, about 70–80 percent of the oil is extracted using the “hot method,” and only 10–15% is extracted using the cold method, you understand which oil is more expensive.
Yes, cold-pressed coconut oil is preferable, although it is more expensive.

Cold pressed coconut oil more expensive and preferable for cosmetic purposes. But you can also eat it.
Hot pressing coconut oil cheaper and used for food.

Coconut oil is 99% fat. But at the same time, it is a healthy fat, because it contains many polyunsaturated fats, acids, and antioxidants. The most useful thing in it is lauric acid; coconut oil contains almost 53% of it! That's a lot. In olive oil, for example, only 12-14%

How to make coconut oil yourself at home?

You can make your own hot-pressed coconut oil. To do this, you need to drain (drink), coconut water, crumble the pulp in a blender and steam with hot water
from a kettle or thermopot (80-90 degrees), cool at room temperature and put in the refrigerator. The layer of fat on top is coconut oil. Scrape it off and use it.
To get a jar of hot-pressed coconut oil, you need to take the pulp of young fresh coconuts, at least 4-5 pieces.
Those that are sold here in Auchan in Russia, for example, are not suitable. They are already old.

Young coconuts don’t “live” that long; even in Thailand they rot within a few days after being picked.
Here, the younger the pulp, the better. Coconuts are often brought to Russia already old. In them, the pulp and coconut water already lose their beneficial properties.

Coconut oil – cold pressed

Cold pressed coconut oil is obtained by pressing.

There's not much to say here other than what I've already mentioned. Cold extraction of coconut oil is almost
8 times less effective, more expensive and valued more in cosmetics and other products.

Look for the GMP symbol on the jar."Good Manufacturing Practice" coconut oil has passed laboratory inspections and tests and is suitable for human consumption. There may also be other badges that correspond to certification and good quality: BIO, Organic labeling, which means that no chemicals or pesticides were used during cultivation.

Coconut oil – price, how much it costs, where to buy?

Remember, good coconut oil is not cheap! Well, it just can’t, that’s all! If you buy a large bottle for 100 baht, it will contain, at best, 10-15% coconut oil, and the rest is mineral.
Hot pressed coconut oil can cost around 100-150 baht in Thailand for a large bottle (0.5-0.7) and is sold in grocery stores. This oil can be used for food and for tanning, but it will not bring much benefit for cosmetic purposes or for hair.

If the coconut oil you purchased NOT hardens at 24-25 degrees - then this is not coconut oil, it is a mixture of mineral and other types of oils, absolutely not suitable (and harmful!) for taking internally or externally; it can only be used occasionally for massage.

As a guide, the price of good, high-quality coconut oil in Thailand is from 100-150 baht per 100g. This is the price you should focus on.
It may be more expensive, but cheaper is unlikely.
Here's an example from 7/11:

Or this oil, I bought at the Boots pharmacy. It was 120ml in volume and cost about 100-120 baht. There, at the pharmacy, you can buy larger volumes of coconut oil, which
It says it can be eaten.

But the price is not a guarantee that you will buy good and high-quality coconut oil! Read on to learn how to distinguish fake from real coconut oil.

Coconut oil – where to buy the right coconut oil?

Of course, the most affordable price for natural coconut oil will be in the countries in which it is produced, and this is almost all of Asia, where coconuts grow.
Thailand, Malaysia, Bali, etc.
If we talk about Thailand, the safest place to buy it is in pharmacies (like Boots or Watsons) or grocery stores.

In Pattaya, I found high-quality natural coconut oil in the central festival grocery store on the ground floor, in the Bio cosmetics section, and in pharmacies there,
even the Macro store in Pattaya sells good coconut oil at a reasonable price, and it is also edible.

Of the Thai manufacturers, I really like the Tropicana brand; coconut oil from this company will definitely be natural and healthy.
Finding it in Thailand will not be difficult, but if you are not going to Thailand yet, then I recommend the online store of natural Asian cosmetics Siamgarden.ru, where the selection is good and the prices are normal, and most importantly, you don’t need to wait for many months for a package from Thailand, everything is available in Moscow with delivery.

Where and what NOT to buy coconut oil?

First of all, which does not harden, because it is a maximum of 10-20% coconut oil, the rest is mineral.

Bad coconut oil is sold in markets. It is very rare to find a high-quality product there, simply because they sell handicrafts so that they can buy cheaper so that they can buy better.

low quality coconut oil

It is easy to distinguish low-quality oil in the heat. The price is too low for a large bottle (150 - 200 baht for 500g), poor-quality printing on the jar, appearance.
Even if it seems to you that everything is ok, it is better to refrain from such a purchase.

Example. When my mother went to Thailand without me, I ordered her coconut oil, well, she bought it on some excursion.
As a result, I brought complete rubbish for 300 baht, 500 g. bottles And I feel sorry for her, and for myself too.

Natural coconut oil has a very simple and natural smell of freshly opened coconut. It doesn't hit the nose, it's not harsh, it's not strong, it's soft and very long-lasting.

Natural coconut oil can be sold in either a plastic or glass bottle. Real and good oil is marked as 100% extra virgin

Coconut oil prevents protein from disappearing, which is washed out of the hair by shampoos and conditioners. It heals, heals, strengthens hair.
The main thing is to thoroughly rinse off coconut oil from oily hair. Use on the roots not often, but on the ends you can use it every day.

Just hold a teaspoon of coconut oil in your mouth for a few minutes, making the same movements as if you were rinsing your mouth. This practice is called “oil sucking.”

Coconut oil uses for the body

Hydration - nutrition
You can apply coconut oil immediately after a shower, to slightly damp skin, this will help keep it smooth and get rid of dryness, this is especially true in our latitudes in winter and autumn, when the whole body itches after tights, clothes, after heating radiators dry out the skin to death. You can also add coconut oil to your favorite body cream.

High-quality tan
Coconut oil is ideal for obtaining an even and beautiful bronze tan. Firstly, coconut oil, even without a UF filter indicated on it, protects the skin from sunburn, but the degree of protection is not higher than 5-8, be careful! (and used as a remedy afterwards).
I noticed that after using coconut oil, the tan was a completely different color (better) and lasted much longer.
You can use it with additives, like this:

Coconut oil will help if you have cracked heels (apply at night, put on socks)

Calorie content and composition of coconut oil

1 tbsp. coconut oil contains: 116 kcal

  • 0 carbs

    13.5 g fat (12 g saturated, 0.7 unsaturated and 0.3 polyunsaturated)

Although coconut oil is 100% fat, it is a healthy, good fat that is significantly different from what is found in animal products.

Coconut oil contains so-called medium chain fatty acids, which are converted into fat reserves more slowly than long-chain fatty acids.

Example of medium chain fat content:

Products that consist of medium-chain fat (coconut oil) are easier to digest and do not go into the “fat depot” (that is, they are not deposited in body fat)

When they asked me what to bring from Thailand, I asked for shea butter, cocoa butter and coconut. I only received coconut and not quite what I expected.

Instead of a thick, dense one, I received a liquid one with a pump. But when I started using lavender, I got hooked, got a taste for it and continued with coconut. In any case, the dry skin of the legs below the knee required moisturizing. And there must be a big jug of this something. Therefore, not a single oil would be left idle.
The promises are the most rosy, but I don’t see any “sagging” yet, but dry calves will eat everything they’re given. And they will ask again.

After using lavender oil, I expected only good things from it. However, it is slightly different.
I'll start with the packaging. It's the same, with a dispenser. It's also leaking. But not by much. In the case of lavender oil, I thought that the problem would be solved by replacing the bottle, but lavender leaks even in a completely strong bottle, and a lot. Coconut - less. That's why I left it in my native one. Apparently it has more density. I regret that I poured the lavender into an opaque one ((The color is very beautiful in itself. I just wrapped the neck with non-woven material, which is usually used to wrap bottles in restaurants. The issue was resolved.
So, since we are talking about lavender, I will compare it with it.

Coconut is denser. Less fluid. It is transparent and has the smell of Bounty chocolate, although not strong. It takes longer to absorb, you need more of it, and overall it feels weaker than lavender. It provides less moisture. However, it would be wrong to say that there is no hydration. It is there and quite decent. Enough for spring/summer. The skin does not crack or peel. She's quite comfortable. The brutal itch (my skin reacts with itching to cold and chapping) does not haunt me.
For lavender oil, I only need one dose for each leg, but with coconut oil I need two for each. It takes a long time to absorb. 3 hours for complete absorption. But I almost never wait for this (I go to the shower just before bed, because everything depends on the lenses), I go over my legs with a napkin, which absorbs the residue. Thus, there is almost no threat to the laundry.

I gave half the bottle to my sister, she uses it with pleasure. Still, I like lavender better. But I’ll leave it for the winter, when I need something more serious, and now, when it’s already warm, I can get by with this - it’ll do the job just fine.
Cost: 50 baht (2.4 rubles per baht) - about 120 rubles.
Used: from 03/08 to present. vr.

Coconut oil is one of the most popular products in Thailand. It is used everywhere: added to food, applied to the face and hair, and also used as a cure for many diseases. It contains a number of useful acids that every body really needs. Perhaps this is why Thai women have such good smooth skin and gorgeous hair. How to choose it correctly and use it to get only benefits from it?

The oil is widely used in cosmetology. It contains many substances that can improve skin, hair and nails. Don't skimp on this product. A quality product cannot cost less than 600 baht per liter. Otherwise, you risk purchasing not the highest quality coconut oil, but a cheap fake that is only suitable for massage. Only real oil has not only nourishing and moisturizing properties, but also acts as an antiseptic. By the way, it can also be used internally.

Useful properties of coconut oil:

  • has nourishing, moisturizing and rejuvenating properties;
  • Perfect for hair that lacks shine and thickness, and also eliminates dandruff;
  • used as a wound healing elixir;
  • has a bactericidal and antifungal effect.

Types of coconut oil in Thailand, which brand to choose

Coconut oil comes in two types:

  • Hot pressed. To do this, ripe fruits are collected and the white pulp is removed from them. Next, I turn it into shavings, fill it with water and put it on fire. As soon as the oil boils, a yellow film appears on its surface. This is oil. It is collected and then the coconut is put back on the fire and so on. This oil is most often used for food; meat and vegetables are fried in it. Although it can be used in cosmetology, the effect will not be great.
  • Cold pressed. Coconut fruits are collected, the core is cut out and shavings are made from it. Next, this entire mass is placed under a press. Thanks to this action, very healthy coconut oil is obtained. This oil is much more valuable, since all nutrients and trace elements are preserved in it. It is used both in cooking and in cosmetology.

There are a large number of brands offering coconut oil in Thailand. In order to choose the best option, you must adhere to the following rules:

  1. Pay attention to the packaging, it must be of good quality, without smudges or cracks. The inscription “Virgin Coconut Oil” indicates that this is premium coconut oil made by cold pressing.
  2. The oil should have a slightly sweet smell. If it smells strongly, then this indicates the addition of flavors and other additives to it.
  3. Cold-pressed coconut oil has a clear whitish hue. If its color is yellow-brown, it means you have low-quality oil.
  4. The main feature of good oil is that it hardens and turns white at temperatures up to 25 degrees.

The most popular brands of coconut oil are known both in Thailand and far beyond its borders: Samui Nature, Harnn, Tropicana, Siamgarden and ArgiLife, they supply high-quality and natural oil that has a number of beneficial properties for the body.

Where to buy coconut oil in Thailand

It is very easy to purchase coconut oil in Thailand; it is sold here at every turn. First, you need to decide why you are buying it. If you take it for a massage or as an inexpensive souvenir, then regular hot-pressed oil from any street shop will do. There is not much benefit from such a product, but it will not do any harm either. If you need a quality product that can be used for food, then supermarkets can help you. Look for the inscription Extra on the packaging. For cosmetic purposes, it is best to purchase coconut oil from pharmacies named Boots or Watsons. You should not buy products from farms or in specialized pharmacies; although the quality of these products is not bad, the prices are three times higher.

Methods of application

For hair

Coconut oil is ideal for any hair type, the only difference is that you need to apply it differently. For example, if you have dry skin, then it is best to use it as a night mask. To do this, apply a thin layer of oil to the scalp, put on a special cap that allows air to pass through, and tie a terry towel on top. If you have oily hair, then in this case, the oil should be applied only to the hair, 2-3 centimeters away from the roots. For best effect, you can leave the mask on overnight.

The oil also helps well in the fight against dandruff. We apply it to the roots, put on a special breathable cap, and wait an hour or two. Next, wash it off.

If you add a couple of drops of oil to your shampoo and conditioner, your hair will become soft and silky and gain a healthy shine. It can also be used when styling if you add a couple of drops to a spray bottle and spray your hair with this mixture.

Attention! Before you start using coconut oil, make sure you are not allergic.

For face

Add a few drops of coconut oil to your regular face cream and apply it twice a day with light massaging movements. The oil also makes excellent scrubs that cleanse the skin well without drying it out too much. You can make the scrub yourself. To do this, you need to take coconut oil and one of the cleansing ingredients (sugar, salt, coffee, honey or dairy products) in a 1:1 ratio. This composition should be applied to cleansed skin no more than twice a week.

Coconut oil is applied to the eyebrows and eyelashes at night, this procedure makes them grow faster and become healthier.

Twice a week at night you can apply the oil to your facial skin. This procedure is capable of forming a protective film and removing small wrinkles.

For body

Coconut oil perfectly moisturizes, nourishes and retains moisture in the skin, which is why it is often used as a body lotion after a shower.

During the cold season, you can lubricate the skin of your hands with oil, due to which they become softer and receive protection from wind and cold.

For a more even tan, you can apply the oil to the skin, but you should be more careful here, since the oil does not protect from direct sunlight, which means it is not recommended to sunbathe for a long time with it.

Massage with coconut oil, the skin will be soft and velvety after it.

Due to its bactericidal effects, the oil is used for cuts and abrasions. It perfectly heals wounds, preventing the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria.

To remove dry heels, lubricate them with coconut oil and put terry socks on top. This procedure can not only restore the heels to their former softness, but also improve their overall condition.

Is it worth bringing coconut oil as a gift?

Undoubtedly, coconut oil is the most common souvenir that tourists bring from Thailand to their family and friends. To make this gift not only pleasant, but also useful, it is better to purchase it in trusted stores or pharmacies. And so that the price does not “hit your wallet,” it is recommended to take a smaller volume. Such a gift will definitely bring benefits and a good mood to its owner.
