New Year's costumes for adults: ideas

Adults usually have enough strength to get the kids together for a matinee, but they don’t have time to think about their own New Year’s image. However, you shouldn’t throw away the opportunity to show off in an original suit at a corporate party, with friends or at a family feast.

Carnival costumes are not a difficult task. They can be built from available materials. It is important to know which New Year's costume for adults to choose for the event, taking into account the characteristics of the team with whom you will celebrate the New Year.

Choose one of the ideas presented:

  1. Animal costumes.

Cow. Do you want to emphasize your simplicity and openness, and amuse others? Then the image of a cow will embody this desire. So:

  1. You will need a turtleneck and black leggings.
  2. Draw spots on them with toothpaste.
  3. Attach the robe belt to the back below your lower back. Decorate its end with a pompom.
  4. Put on a large medical glove and place it on the front of your stomach. This is the udder.
  5. Buy a ready-made headband with horns or cut off two fingers from a medical glove and push cotton wool into it and attach them to the headband.

Do original makeup and curl your hair at the front.

Monkey. This cheerful and playful animal is suitable for those who like to have fun from the heart. It's easy to make a monkey costume:

  1. Wear a brown T-shirt and matching shorts.
  2. Make a long, tight ponytail: sew two strips of brown fabric and push some cotton wool or scraps of fabric into it. Alternatively, use two strips of faux fur sewn together and insert a piece of soft wire into the middle to bend the tip of the tail. Then push the pieces of fabric.
  3. Buy a headband with monkey ears or make two cuts in an old brown hat and sew on large round ears. Make them from felt because it holds its shape well.
  4. Put on warm brown knitted leg warmers on your feet, and matching mittens on your hands.

Makeup is not required. A good mood is important. If desired, complete the look with a monkey mask. Buy one or make one yourself. In the latter case, you will have to tinker.

To make a mask you will need: 10 mm foam rubber (2 pcs.), thick paper, newspapers, paste, Moment glue and elastic band. You can’t do without imagination, so it’s important to come up with a grimace.

Make a smiling monkey. For this:

  1. From thick paper, cut out a base-rim that will be placed over the nose and adjacent to the cheeks. Its height is no more than 5 cm.
  2. Place it on your face and determine where the bulge of your nose will be. Along these curves, cover the base with pieces of newspaper using papier-mâché technology. On the inside - with paper napkins.
  3. Glue the foam to the rim. Use clothespins to secure.
  4. Cut it into a semicircle according to the shape of the designed mask. This is the top part. Use scraps to make a nose and large teeth.
  5. Cut out the lower jaw from the second piece of foam rubber, glue the teeth to it and connect both parts on both sides of the rim.

The final stage is painting. Use spray paint. It’s better to do this outside or in the garage so as not to dirty the environment.

Panther or leopard.

Choose the right clothes: a dress, a T-shirt and leopard-print leggings. Put a headband with ears on your head. Paint your face in a “cat” style. For those who want to stand out, we recommend investing in face painting.

  1. Costumes of fairy-tale, mythological, fantasy heroes.

Witch. Some ladies need to wear their casual outfit to create this look, but for the rest we recommend:

  1. Select an unnecessary black skirt and cut it into uneven strips and pieces. The higher the slits, the more interesting the image.
  2. Wear a black fitted turtleneck.
  3. Choose accessories. There is a shiny belt at the waist. It should hang down a little, so don’t tighten it too much, hang a fabric bag and children’s toys on it: toads, snakes, spiders. Wear bright and long beads around your neck. The bigger, the better. On his head is a pointed hat. You can purchase it or make it yourself. To do this, cut out a large semicircle from cardboard and glue a cardboard cone in the center.

The look will be completed if you let your hair down, do a bright manicure and makeup. Don't forget the broom.

Gorgon. In this look, the hairstyle plays the most important role. Put your hair upright: comb it, form strands and cover with hairspray. For a suit, choose a black dress or a black blouse and skirt. Cut the last attribute into long strips.

Mummy. A suit that suits both men and women. There will not be any particular difficulties in creating it. You will need 10–15 packs of wide bandages or 10 meters of gauze and a person to wrap them around the hero.

In this image, the main thing is charisma and acting skills.

Humanoid. For this costume, a diving suit, tights or a bright, preferably golden or silver, jumpsuit would be useful. Complete it with an original mask.

In a New Year's costume for adults, a flight of fantasy is important. Experience the image of a cowboy, a ballerina from Swan Lake, a Teletubby, an elephant, a clown. You can easily make them at home using available materials.

DIY dog costume for an adult for the New Year

Attach the floppy ears to the hood. Put on slippers trimmed with faux fur to match your suit on your feet, and mittens on your hands.

Option 2. You will need a homemade fur vest, knitted leg warmers and mitts. Complete the look with a mask or headband with dog ears.

Don't forget to paint your face. You can replace the vest with an old brown blanket, from which you can make a poncho by cutting a hole in the center for your head.

Option 3. We suggest creating a costume in a hurry. A hooded sweatshirt would be perfect for him. Sew long ears onto it. Wear matching shoes and mittens or mittens.

All options will come to life if the hero puts on a mask. Everyone will do it:

  1. Cut out a dog's face from cardboard or felt.
  2. Paint it.
  3. Glue on the ears cut from fabric.

Tie a colorful scarf around your neck to match your entire look. The more rivets, ribbons and leather elements you have, the better. And don't forget the tall cowboy boots!

Carnival cowboy costumes will easily suit both boys and girls! The former can leave their hair mischievously disheveled in all directions, while the latter can let loose their playful wavy locks.

A more feminine version of the look for the New Year is a denim miniskirt with holes and abrasions or a multi-tiered maxi skirt made of cotton.

You almost don't have to put in any effort. It is enough to get a poncho - a wide cape - and a sombrero - a wicker hat with a simply gigantic flat brim. You can do both of these yourself! For a poncho, choose a large square piece of brightly colored fabric in yellow, green and red, cut a hole in the middle to fit your head through, and wear it with confidence.

When working on a sombrero, you will need thick paper or thin cardboard.

  • Measure the circumference of your head.
  • Draw or print out a sketch of a sombrero. The margins should be very wide - use large format paper.

  • Make the crown - the side part without a bottom or brim - the same length as the circumference of your head so that the hat fits well.
  • Glue the parts together by applying glue to the auxiliary triangle valves. Paint the workpiece in bright colors.

A black pencil or felt-tip pen will help you complete the look - draw a Mexican mustache under your nose with it. Bring your maracas and create a festive buzz around you all evening!

In addition to these ideas, you can also use ideas for Halloween outfits - they are perfect as carnival costumes for the New Year.
