Do not be ugly at a corporate party: a designer about techniques that will give out bad taste in an evening look

On the eve of the upcoming New Year corporate events, Relax.by thought about how to look relevant and appropriate at an event of this format? The successful metropolitan designer Lyudmila Labkova already tells us how to identify bad taste for things from the basic wardrobe. Now we are figuring out how, while creating a festive image, not to injure the audience with blatant bad taste.

- In recent years, corporate events have become easier, - argues Lyudmila.- Until recently, everyone sewed luxurious outfits, but then the crisis came; now Belarusian women shamelessly wear the same dresses in the office, cafes and parties.

When choosing clothes for a corporate party, it is always better to “under-” than “over-”. You can take a walk in makeup: many local ladies love percussive make-up in the early morning of a weekday; here at a corporate party this will be much more appropriate.

We remember the outright bloopers, which it is better to forget about forever.

01 Boots under the dress

- Our young ladies are very fond of this practice: at corporate parties in boots, usually every second woman. Girls look especially inappropriate in a short dress and jackboots - such an image is acceptable as a club, but very bad as a solid corporate or "bow" for cultural events (going to the theater, restaurant or fashion show): here you need to maintain the dress code.

If the event takes place in a warm room, shoes or sandals should be on your feet. Well, if a company celebrates a holiday on an open terrace, it is worth picking up the whole image under boots or rough boots.

02 Tights under sandals

The scourge of Belarusian fashionistas in any weather (it is better to give preference to bare feet with a beautiful pedicure). In a certain fashion image, there may be only a large mesh, but it must be very carefully maintained in order to avoid unnecessary vulgar associations.

Modern fashion allows you to wear socks or knee-highs under your sandals (this is a technique that the numerous glamorous audience in Milan gravitates to). It's funny, and many brands now offer special stylish socks.

03 Too naked body

We must not forget that a corporate party itself implies some restraint and even officialdom (they say congratulatory speeches to you, right?), Since this is where all employees gather, including top management. If you want to show everyone around you a beautiful body, remember that corporate is a good reason to demonstrate good manners and good taste, and focus on them.

You should not choose ultra-short dresses and shorts, and also open your shoulders and neckline (if your colleagues can see your underwear or elastic bands of stockings while moving, this is indecent). In winter, a too naked body looks completely stupid, unless you are celebrating a corporate party at a club.

04 Student prom dresses: satin, glass and simply market

Satin dresses are a great love of Belarusian women. In fact, these have gone out of fashion for a very long time; Now the trend is matte, heavy jacquard fabrics, and if you really want gloss - pay attention to the current velor with beautiful prints.

The dresses designed for the maximum for the student's prom are also perplexing - obviously cheap and made of poor fabrics. I am sure, when moving to work in a reputable company, you should forget about such clothes and spare a pretty penny for creating a stylish image.

Even this season, a lace dress with sequins can be considered obviously gaudy (it has been in fashion for a long time). In a trend - mesh fabrics with embroidery, these look cool. You can also advantageously beat the shiny fabric made of sequins ("disco"): for example, compensate for it with a strict silhouette, and then there will be no pretentiousness in the image, but a holiday will appear.

05 Jeans

Jeans at a corporate party are crazy bad manners. I immediately remember a video about "Louboutins": Victoria Beckham was on that poster, but her image (high-heeled shoes, jeans and a jacket) is a daytime or even a work option.

If you don't like dresses at all, pay attention to the current culottes for a classic jacket: they look gorgeous with sandals / shoes and visually make the leg more beautiful. You can wear tight and cropped suit trousers with ironed arrows (under a long jacket, but with a shiny top, for example) or vice versa - very long and very wide trousers. Various variations of a classic suit, even close to a man's, are good.

A girl in suit shorts under a jacket will look actual; An unexpected blouse can become a highlight here (attention, this is not about ultra-short tight shorts that you wear to the club; in such shorts and a top at a corporate party, you will look as if you forgot to dress).

06 Corsets

They were in fashion not so long ago, they were worn with fluffy skirts. At a corporate event in 2017, a corset without a jacket up is a very bad tone. It is only appropriate for a very evening event or red carpet. Today, the exposed linen theme can only look decent in pajama-style clothes (for example, a suit or a short slip dress with a jacket).

07 "Buckles" and curls on the head

The current fashion strives for simplicity and naturalness, so you will look actual by loosening your hair or carelessly pinning it up; if you want curls - choose disheveled and with a barely noticeable wave. Not a single modern fashion trend involves such "licked" hair.

By simplifying your hairstyle, you can focus on accessories and makeup. There are practically no restrictions here, except when your clothes are lavishly decorated with appliques and rhinestones.

08 Men: Sweaters

For men, there is also a corporate dress code: they should wear a suit to a party (especially if there are no strict dress code requirements in the office at normal times). More often they come in jackets, and it is customary to take them off and stay in a shirt when everyone relaxes and the party loses its official mood. In some cases, there may be a good T-shirt under the jacket (if, for example, you are celebrating a holiday in a brasserie, and not in a gourmet restaurant with a classic interior).

Belarusians often sin with sweaters at evening events (and, as a rule, either very thin, like turtlenecks, or vice versa - thick and fluffy). If you hate a jacket, choose a V-neck jumper, shirt and bow tie.

09 Men: Ties

Not everyone knows that a tie is an item exclusively from an office wardrobe. They should not be worn at corporate events. Leave the collar empty or refer to the "butterfly" if the event is characterized by a certain solemnity and a number of ladies in cocktail dresses.

10 Men: inappropriate shoes

It is the shoes that form the image to a greater extent. Once upon a time, secular lions shocked the audience with sneakers under classic suits, and it's always cool if there is enough inner drive and taste. But the corporate dress code still strives for the classics, and therefore does not imply casual shoes like sneakers, not moccasins (in any case), but neat classic shoes.
