ROCKWOOL plant in Troitsk Chelyabinsk region was acquired by the company in 2010. As part of the extensive modernization of the plant, by April 2011 the existing capacity was increased by more than 50%, and by the end of the year a line for the production of stone wool cylinders was launched. The fourth Russian plant of the ROCKWOOL company, located in the Republic of Tatarstan on the territory of a special economic zone“Alabuga” (Elabuga district), was inaugurated on April 4, 2012. The ROCKWOOL Group's investment in the creation of the first production line amounted to $150 million. The basis for making the decision on the location of ROCKWOOL's new production was the favorable investment conditions of the Alabuga special economic zone, as well as the business-oriented approach of the Tatarstan authorities. Product output is 110 thousand tons per year with the possibility of installing a second production line, which will double the existing capacity. The plant produces an innovative product from ROCKWOOL - Light Butts SCANDIC, the first stone wool insulation that is subjected to compression.
