Airplane flights in real time are a unique service. Flight Tracking: Best Android Apps

New review dedicated to air travel: we have tested and selected applications that will help make waiting for a flight and the flight itself comfortable. We did not include here numerous airline ticket booking services, trip planners and packing assistants: only what will be useful at the airport or on the plane.

1. SkyGuru: pocket assistant for an aerophobe

A new application from Russian developers is designed to help those who are afraid of flying. Created by a professional pilot, head of the center for the study of aerophobia “Fly Without Fear” Alexey Gervash, the application clearly explains every sound and movement in flight - as if a pilot were sitting next to you. The application even works in airplane mode; however, to do this, you need to first tell it the flight number: then it will download information about the upcoming flight from professional sources, and the smartphone’s sensors will help recognize the current stages of the flight.

The app will warn you about turbulence (including estimated time entry into the zone and the duration of each) and will tell you why it is not dangerous, describe the weather at the departure airport and explain its influence on your feelings during takeoff, calculate the actual travel time taking into account the wind, comment on the sounds made by the aircraft, and warn about possible approaches to the second circle during landing and other maneuvers, will show the current position of the aircraft in space, explain possible reasons flight delays, will recommend special techniques and exercises to combat aerophobia, will answer “why the lights are blinking”, “why open the curtains” and will entertain the masses interesting facts. As a result, flying turns into a conscious and therefore much less frightening process.

The only drawback is the price: SkyGuru costs 1,490 rubles. Those who have installed the application claim that it is worth the money - flying with it is almost not scary. SkyGuru will also appeal to those who are not afraid to fly, but are interested in aviation.

2. FlightBoard: airport information board in a smartphone

The application turns your smartphone or tablet into an information board for the selected airport. It allows you to view the status of any flight in real time, check the departure and arrival times, and find out which planes are arriving in your city right now.

FlightBoard covers more than 3,000 airports and 1,400 airlines (charter flights, unfortunately, are not included); information is updated every 5 minutes. The cute design is copied from the information board at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris.

The application is Russified. Cost - 299 rub.

3. App in the air: flight manager

A convenient pocket assistant will inform you about all the flight changes, advise where to eat at the airport, where to find a power outlet and how to connect to Wi-Fi, help you check in for your flight and navigate airline loyalty programs. The functionality of the application is constantly expanding: the ability to track luggage has recently been added (so far for several airlines). Another fun option is statistics of all your flights with a calculation of the total number of miles.

The application is Russified and covers 5,000 airports around the world. When you purchase the premium version, App in the air even works offline (schedule changes are delivered via SMS and do not require Internet access: very convenient when you are roaming).

A subscription for 3 months costs 699 rubles.

Thanks to the application, you can monitor the movement of aircraft around the world in real time. By clicking on any of the planes on the map, you will receive all the information about the flight: route, departure and arrival times, model, speed, altitude (the same can be done by pointing your phone at a plane flying in the sky). In addition, in the application you can find flights by number, airport or airline, view the boards of major airports, receive notifications about changes in the desired flight - and even see what the pilot of a particular aircraft sees in front of him. True, most features are available when purchasing the premium version.

Price - about 280 rubles.

A program to help you choose best places on board. Just enter the flight number, and SeatGuru will show a plan of the plane indicating available seats, with the characteristics of each of them and with photographs of users. If you don’t remember the flight number, it doesn’t matter: it’s easy to find by airline and departure time. You can check the flight status and ticket prices for destinations of interest.

The application is not Russified, but works with most domestic airlines and airports.

Free and does not include in-app purchases.

6. GateGuru: Airport Guide

Free TripAdvisor application: by selecting the desired airport, you can find out about the cafes, bars, shops, ATMs, and lounges available there. Objects are sorted into three sections: “Food”, “Shops” and “Services”. Airport plans showing check-in counters and boarding gates are also presented.
The application is not Russified; domestic airports are poorly represented in it (they exist, but there is little information on them). But when traveling abroad, the application may be useful.

7. ATPL Dictionary: air translator

An excellent application for those who are interested in aviation “cuisine”. A dictionary that contains more than a thousand highly specialized words and expressions that are understandable to pilots, but completely unknown to ordinary passengers. Unfortunately, the application is not Russified.

8. Flight+: all flight data

Pocket travel assistant: by entering the flight number or information about it, we specify the time of departure and arrival, the numbers of check-in counters and boarding gates, information about the aircraft model and the location of seats in the cabin. Pop-up notifications will inform you about changes in the schedule; It is possible to set reminders for yourself about flights.
The application allows you to view in real time the arrival and departure boards of any airport, information about flight delays, a map of flights from the airport, terminal diagrams and an advanced weather forecast. You can also view information about the airline: flight schedules, flight maps, background information.

The application is Russified and covers more than 3,000 airports and hundreds of airlines around the world (including domestic ones). Some functions are available when purchasing the paid version (cost - 299 rubles).

9. MiFlight: security check time calculator

MiFlight allows you to correctly calculate the time and not be late for your flight if the airport is crowded, but also not to arrive with a gigantic reserve in order to check in in three minutes and then hang around for hours waiting to board. Enter the airport and departure terminal - and the application will tell you how long you will wait in line for check-in and how long the security check will take. The built-in timer will help you calculate how long these procedures actually took you, and based on the data received, it will adjust the calculations for the passengers following you.

So far, the application covers a small number of airports, and few of them are Russian. In addition, the accuracy of the data depends on the number of MiFlight users in a particular terminal. So in Russia the application is almost useless, but in European capitals- functional. Price - 75 rub. for unblocking all airports.

10. ANA Takeoff Mode: calm, only calm!

Let's finish the review with another application for aerophobes. True, unlike SkyGuru, ANA Takeoff helps not to realize the problem, but to escape from it. Strictly speaking, this is a simple toy for a smartphone where you need to control a ball, pointing it at objects and avoiding obstacles. The simplicity of the game is deceptive: according to the developers, it was invented with the participation of psychologists, and the meditative music in the background adapts to the noise in the airplane cabin and increases the volume when the engines switch to takeoff mode (so it’s better to play with headphones).

Having tested the game, we confirm that with its help you can completely forget about the flight (as well as about work, an unfed cat, a pie in the oven and the world around you). Moreover, the game does not have a “Pause” button, so it leaves no chance of being distracted by panic, thoughts of “AHHHH, we’re going to fall!!!” and other manifestations of aerophobia. The application is free, but there is nothing to Russify in it: there is no text, only a ball and traps.

Online Radar aircraft in flight

Click here to view the Aviaradar map in full screen mode

We live in an era where the age-old dream of all mankind has come true - to fly like birds! Many people do not even think that at any given time there are thousands of aircraft - planes and helicopters - in the air. This program will be especially interesting for children who dream of choosing a profession related to the military or civil aviation. In the program, as follows from the site address, you can, around the clock, in a Mercator projection on a map of the entire Earth, view air routes over any part of it, increasing or decreasing the scale. Find out what planes fly to this moment time, but only of course from among those who have a transponder turned on. Simply by clicking in the online aircraft radar program on the icon of any of the thousands of displayed aircraft, for example the one flying overhead, an inquisitive person can see the departure and destination points of the flight, the already traveled and expected route, the time of departure and arrival, the speed, altitude of the aircraft, its brand and tail number. And also dozens of photographs of this particular aircraft from the site’s database, taken by planespotters. The program displays all international airports on Earth, and when you click on them, you can see it official name, local time and weather - precipitation, temperature and wind speed. In addition, the departure and arrival board of this airport is displayed. Therefore, it is interesting to observe when one of your friends or relatives flies by plane. Knowing the flight number, you can watch their flight from takeoff to landing online. And immediately after landing, when everyone on the plane frantically turns on their mobile phones (previously turned off during landing), send an SMS congratulating them on your arrival. The program also displays lines of navigational (immediately after sunset) and astronomical twilight (when it is full night) constantly moving on the Earth map, which allows you to plan your events. In addition, you can enable a program-simulated cockpit view in any of the four directions. It is especially interesting to watch when another plane is visible ahead. To use all the services of this program, you need to pay a small amount monthly. But the basic and most popular functions of flytradar online are available for free. You only need to reboot every half hour, which is not particularly annoying.

We have all repeatedly waited for the arrival of a plane carrying our family, friends or colleagues. Anyone who has lived through such anticipation is familiar with the feeling of anxiety: “when will the plane land.”
