Health 08/31/2012

Today I want to remind everyone of “grandmother’s” simple health recipes for colds for both adults and children. I have already given many such recipes on my blog. Today I want to add something, generalize something. I already have a lot of articles, you can’t always find all the information you need.

Tomorrow is September 1st. Our children and grandchildren are going to school, some are continuing their student lives, others are already working. I don’t know about you, but it’s just autumn days here. It was all raining. It's clear now, but it's still so cold outside. I can't even believe that summer has passed.

And with such a change in the weather, and even in cold rooms, it’s no wonder you’ll catch a cold. Of course, I wish everyone only health and hope that you have strengthened your immunity over the summer. But it would be a good idea for everyone to remember simple “grandmother’s” recipes if suddenly you or your children catch a cold. There is no need to immediately turn to pills. After all, there are simple recipes for health. Everything is natural and safe.

Emergency measures for colds.

So, if, God forbid, you catch a cold, take the most emergency measures.

If you just feel like you have a cold or your nose is a little stuffy, then I would recommend always keeping tea tree oil on hand at home. It is known that essential oils have been used for a very long time. Ancient Egypt, China and India were famous for the production of such oils.

Just buy very high quality oil. I always choose Austrian oil. Remember that good oil cannot cost 50 rubles. It is better to buy high-quality oil, it will last you for a whole year, but the effect will be decent. I always lubricate my nose with this oil. Just a salvation from all runny noses. I first learned about this oil when I had frontal sinusitis and sinusitis together, the children were small then. I suffered terribly, I had to get punctures. Then they told me that now there will always be problems. The slightest runny nose and exacerbations again.

And I have been successfully using this oil for a very long time. So glad. I don’t remember any sinusitis. Just check everything for allergies. By the way, I always add this oil to the aroma lamp. I put it in the room, such a scent. And at the same time the therapeutic effect is wonderful. At one time, I read a lot about essential oils and made different compositions. It’s great to add to cream and to the bath. In a word, great for health and beauty.

A loading dose of vitamin C.

Also, everyone knows that you need to take a loading dose of vitamin C. It is better in its natural form. These include lemon, currants, red grapefruit, cranberries, rose hips, etc. Just remember that if you brew rosehip, do not boil it, but simply brew it in a thermos. 2-3 tablespoons per half-liter thermos. Leave it overnight. Drink instead of tea in the morning and throughout the day. Before brewing, you can crush the rose hips with a mortar or grind them in a coffee grinder.

A recipe for strengthening the immune system and improving blood composition.

I highly recommend that everyone, both adults and children, now, in the fall, make a simple recipe for 5 glasses, which I already wrote about on my blog. This recipe is good for the blood, for the immune system, so that you don’t get sick all winter. The recipe can be found in my article A recipe that has been tested by time. Do everything, don’t be lazy, I highly recommend it for everyone’s health. Both adults and children. You need to drink everything in courses. You drink for a month, you rest for a month. But you get so many useful things.

"Granny's" recipes for gargling.

Sea buckthorn oil is great for gargling. If you haven’t read my article on how to make inhalations with sea buckthorn oil, cure a runny nose, sore throat and much more, I highly recommend reading it. You can go to the article.

  • Chamomile. Brew a bag of chamomile or take 1 tbsp. For a glass of hot water. Leave for 15 minutes, strain and rinse.
  • Sage or eucalyptus leaves. How to brew everything correctly, read on the packaging.
  • Sea salt. I also wrote about this on my blog. All recipes.
  • Soda with iodine. 1 tsp a spoonful of soda with 3 drops of iodine per glass of warm water. You can add salt here (half a teaspoon).
  • Pour boiling water over 1 tablespoon of raspberries. Gargle. It is also good to drink tea with berries and raspberry branches. If you don’t have this, you can just drink tea with raspberry jam.
  • Apple cider vinegar is a great way to gargle. 1 tsp per glass of warm water.
  • I also recommend gargling with cabbage juice. This recipe is great to use especially for children. Read everything in my article.

What other “grandmother’s” recipes can be recommended for a developing cold?

As soon as someone close to you gets sick and you want to keep your children safe, place a saucer of chopped onions in the room. The aroma, of course, is not very good, but it is very effective. For children, you can tie peeled garlic on a string. I always did this when the children were little.

If you get your feet wet and don’t feel very well, but you don’t have a fever, steam your feet, maybe with mustard, then rub your feet with vodka or put on socks and sprinkle a little dry mustard on them. You can leave everything overnight.

Drink a glass of hot milk with a teaspoon of butter and honey at night. And immediately lie down under the blanket.

It is very good to make tea with ginger. I have several detailed articles on my blog with ginger recipes. I suggest following the link to the main article. There are all the tips on how to choose ginger, how to cut it, what recipes to use for colds. I won't write everything here again. There are a lot of recipes in the article.

If you can tolerate garlic, then drink milk with garlic at night. To do this, chop 3 cloves of garlic and pour a glass of hot milk. Leave it wrapped a little. Strain. Drink in small sips at night. A very effective remedy for influenza, incipient colds, and pneumonia. But I myself can’t stand recipes with garlic. I feel bad.

How to warm your nose if you have a runny nose?

It’s also a good idea to use “grandmother’s” recipes: to do this, boil an egg and warm your sinuses. You can heat coarse salt and apply it to the nose area in a bag.

“Grandma’s” cough recipes. How to treat a cough?

If you or your child begins to cough, or you simply want to strengthen your child’s strength, give him a decoction of oats. I have tried so many recipes, but this one is wonderful. You can find the recipe itself in the article. And the cough is perfectly cured, and oats give strength. I highly recommend this recipe for the health of children and adults.

It is also excellent to treat a cough with this recipe:

Mix equal amounts of chopped onion, apple and honey. Take 1 teaspoon 3-4 times a day.

It is useful to make an iodine grid on the chest. Just avoid the heart area.

Milk with mineral water also helps with coughs. Take equally. Drink a quarter glass 3 times a day.

I also made a recipe for radishes with honey. Wash the black radish, scrape out the middle, pour honey into it, leave for a while. Take a teaspoon 3 times a day.

It is useful to do inhalations over jacket potatoes. After which it is best to mash the potatoes and make mustard plasters for the child. You just need to use everything if there is no fever. I usually pound potatoes for the children, take a plastic bag, put the potatoes in there and make through mustard plasters. They tied everything with a scarf. It would be good to leave everything overnight.

It is also very good to drink viburnum with honey. If possible, prepare viburnum berries. This is such a delicious and healthy tea.

Of course, there are a lot of such recipes. Everyone in the family has their own recipes. I shared what I myself often used for myself and for my children. I would be glad if you add my recipes in the comments.

My heartfelt gift for today song by Anton Dukhovsky Girl in pursuit of summer . I have already introduced you to this St. Petersburg singer, actor and simply talented person. Well, such purity in everything. Listen to it all for yourself.

Oats are incredibly rich in nutrients and microelements. Experts recommend consuming sprouted oats for weak immunity, depression, fatigue and to normalize the functioning of the body.

Forest mint, motherwort, incense and bee-lover are all names for one herb, oregano. The amazing medicinal oregano is often used in folk medicine to treat chronic diseases.

In cosmetology, it is popular to use olive oil to strengthen dry hair. The use of masks with the addition of olive oil saturates the hair with nutrients, giving the curls shine and strength.

Even in ancient Rus', oat jelly was used for weight loss and maintaining the beauty of skin and hair. There were many recipes for preparing oats for weight loss, and they were prepared from whole grains.

A snow-white flower resembling a calla lily is a spathiphyllum, or “female happiness.” It received this name for its ability to make a woman especially attractive. “Women's Happiness” gives all women exactly what they dream of getting.

Handbook of herbal medicine “De Materia Medica”, XII-XIII centuries.

Collection of herbs for female infertility.

From the book by V.I. Sukhareva and I.Ya. Sukharev “Treatment of various diseases with herbs, fruits and berries of various plants.” The book was published in Shanghai (China) in 1939.
There are many interesting recipes in this book that are rarely used today.
This collection is recommended for use in the treatment of female infertility of any etiology and in cases of threatened miscarriage.
Dry hornbeam flowers, plantain seeds, strawberry leaves, thyme take 6 parts each, and 2 parts burnet, cuff, 4 yarrow.
It is recommended to chop all the ingredients and brew half a teaspoon in a glass of boiling water. Let the infusion cool completely and strain. Take several sips throughout the day.

Headache: aromatherapy remedies will come to the rescue.

It is known that headache can be a symptom of many diseases and requires an accurate diagnosis. Is it possible to relieve a headache attack with the help of essential and vegetable oils? Can! A proven mixture of lemon and lavender essential oils helps with headaches due to hypertension. For 10 ml. of any vegetable oil, take 3 drops of lavender oil and 2 drops of lemon oil. Mix everything together and rub it into your temples for headaches and high blood pressure. If a mixture of these oils is used daily as body oil after a shower, then after one and a half to two weeks the pressure will normalize. One of the “side” effects will be strengthening of nails. Many of my friends highly appreciated the use of lemon and lavender essential oils: their blood pressure is normal, insomnia and anxiety are gone.

If the pain is localized in the crown area, then marjoram essential oil should be added to the essential oils of lemon and lavender. Inhale the mixture and rub onto the temples and crown.

If the headache is caused by hypotension, then lemon oil is used for treatment - three drops, and no more than two drops each of citronella and peppermint oils. They are also diluted in 15 ml of base oil. In order to achieve good absorption, several carrier oils are often mixed together.

A mixture of the following oils will help relieve headaches caused by fatigue or insomnia: dilute three drops each of lemon, ylang-ylang and patchouli oils in 15 ml. base oil.

These are the oils that all the world's aromatherapists recommend for headache aromatherapy. But treatment by rubbing an oil mixture into the skin is not very comfortable: the hair will very quickly lose its presentation. You can make a solid balm for the temples and apply it: melt a teaspoon of beeswax and add a tablespoon of vegetable oil. Mix everything and add the mixture of the above essential oils, transfer the mixture into a jar and let it harden. The result will be a very hard balm. If you need a softer balm texture, halve the amount of wax. You can dilute essential oils in alcohol, pour them into a spray bottle and spray them on your temples during a headache attack.

    This is interesting.
The Marquise de Pompadour (1721-1764), the favorite of the French king Louis XV, was not particularly healthy; her skin was thin and dry. To preserve youth for a long time, Jeanne Antoinette often made masks from cream, lemon and whipped egg white. Every morning the favorite began with the fact that she lubricated her dry face with lemon juice, giving it even greater aristocratic pallor, and then thickly lubricated her skin with olive oil. She washed off the greasy film of base oil with warm water, and all day her face seemed to glow from the inside.

AN OLD DOCTOR'S RECIPE FOR THROMBOPHLEBITIS.

4 packs of flax seed 50 g each and an elastic bandage. Pour a glass of water into a small saucepan, bring to a boil, pour in 5 tbsp. tablespoons of flax seed, stirring, reduce to low heat and cook for 15-20 minutes. Switch off. You should immediately prepare a napkin from any old fabric, but not gauze. Place the contents of the saucepan on a napkin with a layer thickness of about 1 cm. The napkin should be the same size as the surface of the diseased area. The contents of the saucepan should resemble thick jelly, the seed should be warm enough. Don't be afraid - there will be no burns. Place compress paper on top of a napkin. We quickly apply all this to the leg, secure it with an elastic bandage, and wrap it well to keep it warm for as long as possible. There is a deep heating of the leg tissue, the vein itself. Flax seed has an anti-inflammatory, absorbable effect. The procedure is done at night. A small cushion under the leg, bed rest. In the morning, remove the compress and remove any remaining semen from the skin. The same seed can be used again, or you can add a new one (don’t spare the flax seed).
The next day, the pain should subside, hyperemia (excessive accumulation of blood in the blood vessels) should go away. Two days of strict bed rest. Preferably no pills. Compress again at night. This recipe is from an old phlebologist. Instead of aspirin, as doctors advise, to thin the blood, dilute 1 tbsp in a glass of warm boiled water. a spoonful of 5% apple cider vinegar with a teaspoon of honey and drink it in the morning on an empty stomach.
I wish you all good health. Treat yourself with herbs.

    New cold remedies

Usually, when you have a cold, you breathe over potatoes, hover your feet, and put mustard plasters on. If these remedies don't work, you can try other effective treatments.

    Traditions of different peoples

There are many ways to fight a cold. Interestingly, Americans treat colds with carrot salad and vegetable oil. The main component of carrots, beta-carotene, stimulates the immune system, and the oil contains vitamin E, known for its anti-inflammatory effect.

In India, the main natural medicine is turmeric. Indians are confident that this spice strengthens the body's defenses and is effective in treating oncology.

Italians with a cold dig into pizza. In their opinion, cheese, tomatoes and other vegetables help the body fight viruses.

In our country, colds are usually treated with garlic (antibacterial property) and tea with lemon (vitamin C).

    New tools
We immediately draw your attention to the fact that any thermal procedures (inhalations, baths, compresses) cannot be done at elevated temperatures.

    1. Stick your tongue out at the cold. If you stick your tongue out, you won't get a cold, otolaryngologists assure us today. Tongue exercises improve blood circulation in the ear, throat, nose, and help remove mucus. Do this exercise. Stick out your tongue for 5-7 seconds, trying to touch your chin. Then press your tongue against your lower teeth for a few moments, opening your mouth wide. This exercise should be done 3 times a day for prevention and 9 times a day for treatment.

    2. Don't quarrel or get angry. Stress weakens the immune system. The fresher the moral wound, the easier it is for viruses to penetrate the body. So, when comparing blood tests of divorced and married women, it turned out that the first group of women had a weaker immune system.

    3. Massage the “anti-cold” points. Chinese doctors recommend massaging biologically active points every day. They need to be pressed for 2 minutes with your index finger or thumb. This massage is good for both prevention and treatment of an ongoing cold.

Finding the right points is easy. The first is located on the back of the neck, in a hole, slightly above the hairline. You need to look for the second one here, moving a little upward, without leaving the hole. The third is located in the middle between the eyebrows, the fourth is at the inner edge of the eyebrows. The fifth is on the sides of the wings of the nose. Paired points are massaged simultaneously.

    4. Inhalations with honey. An effective remedy is to breathe in honey. Place 2-3 tablespoons of honey in a kettle of boiling water and reduce heat. Then twist a paper tube, insert it into the spout of the kettle and inhale the vapor. This procedure is effective for a runny nose and barking cough.

Contraindications: allergy to honey, tuberculosis, pneumonia, high fever.

    5. Chicken broth. Full chicken soup and “naked” broth are equally useful for colds. They have anti-inflammatory properties, clear a stuffy nose, and relieve sore throats.

    6. Color therapy. Each color has its own wavelength. They affect the body differently. In Rus', there was once a tradition of wearing orange clothes for infertility, yellow clothes for treating the stomach, red clothes for scarlet fever, chickenpox and smallpox, and something turquoise or blue for colds. It was believed that blue color has an analgesic effect, calms, reduces fever and relieves nasal congestion. By the way, you don’t have to wear blue clothes; you can hang a blue rug over your bed.

    7. Rub your feet with alcohol and put on warm socks. This helps at the initial stage of the disease: when you are frozen and feel like you are about to fall apart. Instead of vodka, you can apply a pepper patch to your feet. You'll have to be patient - the burning sensation will be strong. If your feet get wet, you can also steam your hands under running warm water.

    8. Cut the onion into small slices and place it around the apartment. Onions release phytoncides - substances with antibacterial effects. You can make a “healing” medallion. Take a plastic barrel from Kinder Surprise and fill it with finely chopped onions. Next, make holes in the barrel and hang it around your neck on a cord. A saving onion amber will spread around you. Every day you need to replace the onions with fresh ones.

    9. Take a ginger bath.

Grate the ginger on a coarse grater, place it in a cloth bag and secure it to the water tap so that a stream of water penetrates the bag. A ginger bath will relieve chills and body aches. It is recommended to take a bath for no more than 10 minutes. Contraindications: high temperature.

    10. Drink mulled wine.

Hot wine will help with a runny nose, hypothermia, cough, and exhaustion.
Warm wine accelerates the healing effect of ginger, saffron, cinnamon and other components of mulled wine. You shouldn't get carried away with wine: 1 glass is enough.

How is the flu different from a cold?

With the flu, the temperature first rises sharply, and on the 2-4th day a runny nose, coughing, and sneezing appear. With a cold, we see the opposite picture: first there is a runny nose, discomfort in the throat, and a cough. The temperature rises gradually or generally remains normal.

It is better not to guess whether you have a cold or flu, but to immediately consult a doctor who will diagnose the disease. If you treat the flu with folk remedies, there is a risk of complications. And, on the contrary, there is no need to use strong remedies for a mild cold.

Remedies for removing warts 1. Cut a medium-sized onion into thin slices and fill them with 6 or 9% vinegar. Leave for several hours. Then apply the onion plate soaked in vinegar to the warts and secure with an adhesive plaster. Change the plates three times a day. After 3-4 days, the wart should disappear.

    2. Instead of onion plates, you can use onion or garlic gruel. To do this, grate the onion or garlic on a fine grater, and then do the same.
    3. Warts are also removed with celandine extract, having previously lubricated the areas around them with some cream, since celandine corrodes not only the wart, but also the skin around it.
Traditional methods are good and effective, but if a person develops warts, this may indicate certain diseases, for example, improper metabolism. And if there are many cone-shaped papillomas on the genitals, a visit to the doctor should not be postponed. You need to get tested urgently.

    Treatment of sore joints
Wash the burdock leaves and let the water drain. Finely chop or mince and squeeze with your hands. Mix this juice with triple cologne or alcohol or moonshine (it doesn’t matter) in a 1:1 ratio and pour into a glass jar.
Shake before use, rub on sore areas and cover with something warm.
This remedy also helps with lower back pain.

    Remedy for knee pain
Spread honey on your knees and wrap them in 3 rows of toilet paper. Then wet the mustard plasters and put them on top of the paper, and put film or cellophane on top and wrap them with a warm scarf. Do this procedure at night. It will burn, but you have to wait an hour and a half, and then remove everything, but don’t wash it off. If the skin turns red, there is no need to be afraid of it - everything will pass. If it burns very badly, you can lubricate your knees with vegetable oil. The product is very effective.

Treatment for gout, heel spurs and sore feet
Separate 2 kg of fish scraps or cheap fish from the ridge. Divide all the pulp into 10 parts, place in plastic bags and put in the freezer. In the evening, defrost one bag, divide the contents into two parts and apply the fish to the sore spots. Put on a warm sock and go to bed like that. In the morning, wash your feet, and you can feed the fish to animals if you have them. These 10 servings of the product are enough for a complete cure.

Remedy for bruises, sprains and old fractures
Apply a gauze pad soaked in the following composition to the injured area: mix 1 raw egg yolk with ½ teaspoon of fine salt until smooth (if the affected area is small, you can use half of the composition, put the rest in the refrigerator until the second use). Bandage the top. Change the dressing daily. It hardens like plaster, so it should be cut with scissors and removed. A week of such treatment relieves the disease.

    Remedy for styes
At night, apply a piece of cotton wool soaked in sour cream to your eyes. In the morning, wipe your eyes with the same cotton wool; they will open easily, since the sour cream will draw out the pus overnight. 2-3 procedures are enough for complete recovery.

    Anti-tear eye remedy
Rinse well 1 tbsp. spoon of millet and pour 0.5 liters of boiling water over it. Boil for 5 minutes, strain. At night, rinse your eyes in a warm broth (pour the broth into a saucer, open your eyes and blink). Then make tampons from gauze, soak them in hot broth and apply to the eyelids for 5 minutes. After this procedure, which should be carried out for a week, you should not read or watch TV.
Lubricating the lower eyelids with the skin of black grapes also helps. The eyes sting, but no more than when instilling eye drops into the eyes.

    General strengthening agent
For 23 days, drink 1 glass of hot water on an empty stomach, take a break for 7 days.
This remedy helps get rid of gastritis, heartburn, osteochondrosis, eliminates pain in the lumbar region, expels sand from the kidneys and “works” to restore the body’s immune system.

A remedy for the treatment of hemorrhoids and anal fissures

Place ¼ cup dill seeds, 1 tbsp in a half-liter jar. spoon of valerian root, ½ cup and pour boiling water to the top. Close the jar with a lid and wrap it well. Leave for 24 hours. After 2 weeks, the condition improves.
