American ultimate fighter Jerrod Wyatt. The exorcism of Jerrod Wyatt: the terrible crime of an MMA fighter

On October 25, it became known that the Russian mixed-style fighter Alexander Emelianenko would not be able to take the long-awaited revenge from Mirko “Cro Cop” Filippovich. The promotion company Legend terminated the contract with the famous Russian fighter due to a fight in which Emelianenko took part. Let us remind you that after an incident in the capital’s Faina cafe, a 63-year-old man was taken to the hospital with beatings.

the site recalls the most famous fighters who ruined their careers with scandalous and truly terrible antics.

"Iron Mike" and his weakness for girls

Mike Tyson began to show his complex character and enormous talent almost simultaneously - in the mid-80s. In 1987, just as Mike was making a name for himself, he made history in a parking lot. The boxer began to pester the girl, for whom his friend stood up. As a result, the friend’s head suffered a powerful left hook. Tyson was accused of assault, and the case was taken to court. However, the injured party withdrew the statement, receiving 105 thousand dollars from the boxer.

Things ended much worse for Tyson in 1991, when he was accused of rape. According to the prosecution, Mike attacked a girl who bore the title “Miss Black America” in one of the hotels. Tyson was found guilty, although many claimed that that evening everything between the boxer and the girl was consensual. Tyson received six years in prison, of which he served three. While behind bars, he converted to Islam and never returned to the same level.

Lover of drugs and alcohol

Former light welterweight and welterweight world champion Briton Ricky Hatton (45-2-0) has been stripped of his boxing license for damaging the sport's reputation with alcohol and drug abuse.

The British press published an eyewitness account in 2009, which said that the famous boxer was taking drugs. The athlete's friend Emma Bow scrupulously calculated that during the night Hatton consumed seven lines of cocaine and drank a lot of alcohol in the form of beer, vodka, wine and several cocktails. At a hearing on September 22, the British Council found Hatton guilty of misconduct and found that his actions were harmful to the interests of boxing and the public interest in it.

According to Boxingscene.com, Ricky was also fined £20,000. From now on, he does not even have the right to be an assistant in the corner of the ring. However, Hatton continues to remain in the world of boxing. He has a promotion company called Hatton Promotions.

Accidental death at the hands of the "Black Tiger"

Rasul Mirzaev began boxing as a child while studying at a sports boarding school. Rasul often ran away from there, but explained this not by bad influence, but by the desire to show his character. In the third grade, he tried alcohol and cigarettes for the first time, but, in his words, he quickly realized that this was “the road to nowhere.” At the boarding school, he behaved undisciplinedly, and soon his uncle took him in, who, seeing a very active boy, sent him to the freestyle wrestling section.

Having matured, Mirzaev went to serve in the army. He ended up in tank forces, where he began to engage in hand-to-hand combat. Returning to civilian life, I became interested in sambo. Then he began to engage in mixed martial arts and reached great heights: Russian champion in MMA in the weight category up to 60 kg, winner of the World Cup in pankration, world champion in combat sambo, world champion in the weight category up to 65 kg according to Fight Nights as part of the “Battle of the Under” tournament. Moscow - 4".

At 4 a.m. on August 13, 2011, near the Garage nightclub, after a verbal altercation, Rasul Mirzaev delivered a short sharp blow to 19-year-old Ivan Agafonov in the cheekbone. When Ivan fell, he hit the asphalt and lost consciousness, but soon woke up. Friends took the victim to City Clinical Hospital No. 1. After examination, doctors diagnosed: cerebral edema and subsequent pulmonary edema. Soon Ivan fell into a coma. On the night of August 18, he died without regaining consciousness.

On January 12, 2012, it became known that the charge against Mirzaev was changed to a less serious one, to Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing death by negligence). On February 13, 2012, the Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow decided to release Mirzaev from custody on the minimum bail required by current legislation of 100,000 rubles. The court's decision caused outrage, first in the courtroom, and then on the Internet.

After his release from custody, Mirzaev immediately began to prepare for a title fight, an agreement on which was reached before the start of the criminal case. Preparations were carried out for four months in Derbent. On March 31, 2013, as part of the “Great Battle” tournament, Mirzaev had a title fight against the world champion in pankration, Kazakhstani Erzhan Estanov. By unanimous decision of the judges, victory in the three-round duel was awarded to Mirzaev. In his winning speech, Rasul Mirzaev said that he wanted to “dedicate this victory to his family, the team, as well as his native Dagestan and Russia!”

Monstrous impudence in "McDuck"

Rustam Khabilov was a promising fighter in the Rostov club “Legion”. But one day he showed his true colors by committing a not entirely masculine act - he insulted a girl at McDonald's.

At first, he showed an offensive and humiliating gesture to the girls sitting at the table opposite, and then, while defiantly leaving the establishment, he poured juice in the girl’s face, throwing an empty bag at her. Everything was filmed, either by friends or acquaintances of Rustam.

However, the fighter continued to perform in MMA, spoiling his image as a real man and athlete.

Russian hooligan

The middle brother in the Emelianenko family, Alexander, is the most scandalous fighter in Russia. In recent years, we have heard more than once about his unsportsmanlike antics. In November 2011, Emelianenko had a row with the Polish promotion company Strefa Walk. Alexander was supposed to fight in Poland against one of the local fighters, but the show did not take place. As the indignant Polish side claimed, the multiple world and European champion in combat sambo did not fulfill his obligations to the company, and, having taken a fee for the fight (the amount was about 40 thousand dollars in the Polish media), refused to compete. Simply put, he “dumped” his partners.

Emelianenko himself stated that the reasons for the cancellation of the fight lie in “illegal and unscrupulous ways of promoting the tournament on the part of its organizers” - in promoting their brand, the owners of “Strefa Walk” illegally used the image of Alexander’s older brother, Fedor, and promised that the famous Russian fighter would come to the tournament as a guest of honor. Emelianenko Sr. himself resolutely denied this information.

Then there was a scandalous altercation with the Russian fighter Sergei Kharitonov. Sergei commented on Fedor Emelianenko’s three defeats in a row. Alexander, apparently, did not like them and he sharply answered Kharitonov: “Seryozha - no one can call him.” What followed was a series of mutual reproaches and curses. Kharitonov called Emelianenko an alcoholic and a drunkard and accused him of crime. Alexander suggested cutting off his own finger, if this was really the case. If Kharitonov turned out to be wrong, then Kharitonov would naturally lose his finger.

This story did not receive further development - apparently, the fighters got tired of attacking each other through the press.

Over the past two years, Emelianenko has found himself at the center of scandalous stories three more times. In 2012, he caused a brawl on board the Moscow-Barnaul flight, and also conducted a seminar while drunk, according to eyewitnesses.

In the summer of 2013, a young girl filed a complaint against him, accusing Alexander of rape. In October, a Russian fighter got into a fight in a cafe, after which a 63-year-old man ended up in the ambulance. It is still unknown who is to blame in this story, but Emelianenko was withdrawn from the “Legend” tournament, where he was supposed to fight the Croatian fighter Mirko Filipovic in November. By the way, the promotion company terminated the contract with Alexander for life.

Rape at gunpoint

In 2008, mixed martial artist Jeremy Jackson was charged with breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home and raping her at gunpoint. Later, the victim began to recant his testimony, and Jackson had an excellent chance of being released. But then the athlete himself, contrary to the advice of his lawyer, unexpectedly pleaded guilty. The court sentenced him to 25 years in prison.

Prosecutors said Jackson admitted to one count of rape and one count of breaking into someone else's home for the purpose of sexual assault.

British robbery

Famous mixed martial artist Lee Murray was the organizer of the biggest bank robbery in British history.

The crime was committed in February 2006. Murray and his accomplices kidnapped a bank manager and his family. Then, dressed in police uniforms and threatening the manager with violence, they forced him to take them to the bank vault. Together with their accomplices, they made 77 million dollars.

Before that, Lee managed to beat Tito Ortiz in a bar and win one fight in the UFC. Murray is currently serving a prison sentence in Morocco. By the way, the police managed to recover less than half of the stolen money.

Casting out the devil

American fighter Jerrod Wyatt, while under the influence of hallucinogenic mushrooms, decided that his friend and sparring partner Taylor Powell was possessed by the devil, and brutally killed him.

The MMA fighter was caught at the scene of the crime, naked, holding a fragment of Powell's hand and his eye. As American media reported, Wyatt also tore out the unfortunate man's heart and burned it, and also cut out most of his face, tongue and other organs.

Wyatt's lawyer claims that his client, having drunk tea with hallucinogenic mushrooms, was under the influence of psychotropic substances, without realizing what was happening. The athlete faced the death penalty.

Headbutt

M-1 Global decided to disqualify Ibragim Ibragimov for life for unsportsmanlike conduct after his fight with Denis Smoldarev at the M-1 Challenge 39 tournament. Dissatisfied with the outcome of the fight, Ibragimov first expressed his indignation verbally, and then headbutted his opponent.

“We have decided to disqualify Ibragim Ibragimov for life and terminate his contract for unsportsmanlike behavior in the ring,” mixfight.ru quotes the organization’s president, Vadim Finkelshtein. “If a fighter doesn’t know how to lose with dignity, then he has no reason to get into the ring.”

M-1 also decided to punish the Legion club, for which Ibragimov plays. None of the athletes from the mentioned club participated in the next tournament.

The famous mixed martial arts fighter Alexander Emelianenko got into a fight in a Moscow cafe on October 23. We remembered how MMA fighters entered into conflicts with others, not hesitating to use their professional skills

Alexander Emelianenko

In the capital's Faina cafe, Russian mixed martial arts fighter Alexander Emelianenko again demonstrated to everyone his explosive character and strong fists: for reasons unknown to anyone, he was outraged by the behavior of the company that was celebrating an anniversary at the next table. To begin with, the athlete decided to simply enter into a verbal altercation with those present, and then got involved in a fight. As a result, a 63-year-old man was hospitalized, and Emelianenko hastened to flee the scene - and a day later, when he was detained, he stated that he himself had become a victim of an attack. The police comment on the events evasively, but admit that the athlete may become involved in a criminal case.

Rasul Mirzaev

Three-time MMA world champion Rasul Mirzaev also marred his fame with an evil act. On August 13, 2011, near a nightclub in the center of Moscow, the athlete was unable to keep his emotions under control and with one strong blow to the cheekbone, he ended the life of a young student, Ivan Agafonov.

It all started quite harmlessly: a student with friends stood near an entertainment venue and played with a car using a remote control. Then the toy drove up to the girl, and Ivan jokingly offered her a ride. Mirzaev did not like this, and he decided to enter into a verbal altercation with the student, and then teach the impudent young man a lesson with a strong blow. Ivan Agafonov died. He was 19 years old.

Stanilav Molodtsov

On August 11, 2012, Russian fighter Stanislav Molodtsov decided to have fun in the Crimean bar “Tropican”. As eyewitnesses of the incident assured, the athlete, solely out of hooligan motives, decided to “deal with” a contract serviceman of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Alexander Fedorov. The fighter approached the man and hit him in Fedorov’s face. After the blow, the victim fell, hit his head and lost consciousness.

Sympathetic bar patrons called an ambulance. The serviceman was hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury and died a few hours later. Meanwhile, Molodtsov hastened to hide.

Fun fact: the fighter was a witness in the case of his colleague Rasul Mirzaev, whom he then described as a restrained and non-conflict person. Now this, at least, definitely cannot be said about Molodtsov himself.

Alistair Overeem

In 2012, professional Dutch MMA fighter Alistair Overeem, a powerful and strong athlete, decided to attack a woman at the Wynn casino in Las Vegas. The incident occurred on January 2. What exactly the professional didn’t like is unknown. Yes, he himself does not know, believing that he is not to blame for anything.

But this is not the first time that Overeem allows himself to let loose and splash out his aggression. In 2009, he and his brother Valentin - by the way, also an MMA fighter - took direct part in a fight with nightclub security guards. The forces were unequal: two athletes and seven guards. However, Valentin and Alistair overdid it so much that five of the club's seven law enforcement officers were hospitalized.

Jerrod Wyatt

The crime committed by American MMA fighter Jerrod Wyatt shocked everyone. The athlete, being under the influence of hallucinogenic mushrooms, decided that his friend Taylor Powell had been possessed by a devilish force. And who, if not Wyatt, needs to save his friend? Then he decided to expel the demon from the soul of the poor fellow and remove the heart from his body. After the procedure, the fighter obviously thought that this was not enough and burned his friend’s heart, and also cut off his tongue, part of his face and removed other internal organs. When the police arrived at the crime scene, a naked Wyatt, intoxicated by his success, was holding an eye and a fragment of Powell's brush in his hand. Forensic experts determined that Taylor Powell saw everything that his friend did to him, since for some time after the start of the “exorcism” he was still alive.

Fights without rules amaze many with the power, cruelty, and superhuman strength of their opponents. However, there is an opinion: the stronger and more aggressive an athlete is in the ring, the more calm and kind he is in life. But in the direction of the main character of our story, such a judgment is completely wrong. Let us tell you the story of Jerrod Wyatt, one of the most feared fighters in MMA. She confirms for the hundredth time: drugs are an absolute evil for humans.

D. Wyatt - who is this?

Jerrod Wyatt's biography is not replete with bright victories in the ring, and you are unlikely to find recordings of his most spectacular fights online. Moreover, we note that this wrestler without rules had only one fight in the professional ring!

It is also difficult to single out Jerrod Wyatt based on other characteristics. The biggest MMA fighter is not his case. However, the name of this American athlete was in the public eye for a long time in the first half of 2010. And it’s not his MMA career that’s to blame. And a terrible crime, the punishment for which for the 26-year-old wrestler was the death penalty.

Terrible challenge

The American police officers who rushed to respond to an incomprehensible call were faced with a truly terrible sight: the body of a man on whose face there was no living space left - it was literally cut into shreds with a knife. The heart and other internal organs were torn out from the corpse. The identity of the man who died such a terrible death was quickly established - he turned out to be Taylor Powell, a 21-year-old fighter without rules.

It didn't take long to find the culprit - he was at the crime scene. The brutal killer turned out to be none other than the martial artist and sparring partner of Taylor in the ring - Jerrod Wyatt. According to the police, at the time of his arrest the athlete was completely naked, stained from head to toe in human blood. In his hand was Taylor Powell's eyeball.

Exorcism and mushrooms

What happened was explained by D. Wyatt himself. The terrible reprisal against his rival and friend is the exorcism of the devil from Powell’s mortal body. There is no need to think that Jerrod Wyatt was overly religious, belonged to a sect, or was fond of Satanic teachings. The reason for his terrible act is too prosaic.

Having gathered in a close circle with friends, the athlete decided to take a cup of a drink made from hallucinogenic mushrooms. As a result of drug use, the fighter’s consciousness became clouded - he was overcome by the obsession that his friend was possessed by Satan and that he could be “saved” from the devil only through this ritual murder.

According to Jerrod Wyatt, he threw the deceased’s heart into the fire, and intended to eat the other internal organs.

According to a witness

The third participant in the “mushroom tea party” was a certain Justin Davis. It was he who called the police to the scene of the terrible crime. According to the witness, after taking the hallucinogenic drink, he noticed strange changes in Wyatt's mood. Jerrod began to repeat that he definitely needed to cut out some kind of tattoo. This worried Davis - he decided to quietly and without suspicion leave the company to call the police.

A sound decision essentially saved Justin. But it was in his absence that the terrible massacre took place.

Crime and Punishment

According to pathologists, Taylor Powell's death was due to massive blood loss due to his heart being torn out. There is an assumption that the unfortunate man was alive for some time after this - he was conscious, experiencing terrible torment.

According to police sergeant Elwood Lee, the first to arrive at the scene of the crime, Jerrod used his hands and a knife in his terrible deed. Taylor's chest was opened with this bladed weapon - a cut more than 45 centimeters long was made. Then Jerrod Wyatt completed the pseudo-ritual reprisal by tearing out the unfortunate man’s internal organs.

James Fallman, the MMA fighter's lawyer, said in defense of his client that the latter, at the time of committing the crime, may simply not have realized the consequences of his actions. Jerrod Wyatt's mind was clouded by the effects of taking hallucinogenic mushrooms. At that moment, the athlete was, one might say, in a different reality, where he was saving a friend, into whose soul, according to the accused, the devil had entered.

The case was heard in Del Norte County Court. Jerrod Wyatt was charged with first-degree murder and torture. The last episode is presented due to the fact that Wyatt's sparring partner was in terrible agony, living his last moments with his heart torn out. According to state law, a murderer, even in a state of confusion, must answer to the fullest extent of the law for his cruel act. There is only one punishment - death penalty.

Jerrod Wyatt, whose name was so popular in the media in the spring-summer of 2010, is by no means an MMA star. Rather, this wrestler, who has only had one professional fight, is a disgrace to the sports organization. Jerrod was rightly sentenced to death for a brutal murder. This terrible example once again shows what terrible consequences the use of seemingly harmless drugs can lead to.

Professional athletes risk their lives regularly and often not only in competitions. In recent years, there have been many cases where they were killed in broad daylight in public and in front of cameras. About the world champion in powerlifting Andrei Drachev and other victims from the world of sports - in the material of Lenta.ru.

The fight, as a result of which Drachev was killed, broke out on the morning of August 20 near one of the Khabarovsk cafes. As relatives of the suspect Anar Allahveranov said, the powerlifter called him a “stupid”, he became very angry and could not cope with his feelings. Fists were used, phrases were heard: “Are you the healthiest? Yes, we didn’t break those kind of things.” A criminal case was opened against a native of the southern regions of Azerbaijan under the article “murder”. He fled the scene and was put on the federal wanted list.

On July 29 of this year, European junior freestyle wrestling champion Yuri Vlasko was brutally murdered. This happened in the village of Goryachinsk, Pribaikalsky district of the Republic of Buryatia, where the 20-year-old athlete came to prepare for an international tournament, as well as to show foreign wrestlers the nature of those regions. His body was found on the lake shore with stab wounds to the head and neck.

The athlete received injuries incompatible with life as a result of a mass brawl. According to eyewitnesses, friends tried to help him, but they were unable to save him. “No one helped from the outside: the police were waiting for doctors, the coast guard did not come, although all this was not far from their building. In the end, after 20 minutes, the friends themselves loaded him into a car,” witnesses said.

Vlasko was born on March 14, 1997. In 2015 and 2016, the wrestler won the European Junior Championships. He competed in the weight category up to 96 kilograms.

On February 13 of this year, mixed style fighter Denis Razdrogov was killed in one of the nightclubs in Veliky Ustyug. According to eyewitnesses, the 19-year-old athlete stood up for the administrator, who did not want to let three aggressive citizens into the establishment: Sergei Popov, Alexey Buchnev and Alexey Glazachev. After the quarrel, Razdrogov’s opponents left, but soon returned with weapons. 31-year-old Popov shot the athlete with a gun, he received a gunshot wound in the leg and died from loss of blood.

The police quickly detained Popov, Buchnev and Glazachev. It turned out that all three had criminal records, but now two of them have already been released from pre-trial detention and transferred to house arrest. The Vologda court did not consider them dangerous to others.

Razdrogov is a four-time winner of the Northwestern Federal District championship in hand-to-hand combat, a two-time medalist of Russia in army hand-to-hand combat and winner of the Arkhangelsk region championship in MMA.

In March 2017, world powerlifting champion Evgeny Galuzinsky was killed in Kokshetau, Kazakhstan. According to police, on the night of March 14, a verbal argument broke out between the 25-year-old athlete and a group of college students, which escalated into a fight, during which Galuzinsky was stabbed and died on the spot.

“Four guys were walking along the road, one of them pushed a friend on the shoulder, and Zhenya made a remark: they say, there’s not enough space?” - said the mother of the murdered man, Marina Galuzinskaya. This was the reason for the attack on the athlete. There were several attackers, but the police arrested only one - an 18-year-old student who was carrying a knife. The rest were released on their own recognizance.

Galuzinsky is a world champion among youths, a prize-winner of the world championship among juniors, as well as a multiple champion of the Republic of Kazakhstan in powerlifting. This sport is a powerlifting event: squat with a barbell on the shoulders, bench press and deadlift.

Franco Antonio Nieto

On December 4, 2014, fans of an Argentine club killed a football player after a match. Franco Antonio Nieto, captain of the third division team Tiro Federal de la Roja, died in a hospital in La Rioja after being hit in the head with a brick.

The tragic incident occurred near the stadium where Tiro Federal de la Roja and Chacarita met. 15 minutes before the end of playing time, the referee was forced to stop the match due to a brawl between the players.

Franco Antonio Nieto was about to leave the stadium in his own car. However, a group of aggressive fans attacked him, one of whom dealt a fatal blow with a brick. The football player was urgently hospitalized. An operation was performed at a hospital in La Rioja, but it was not possible to save the footballer’s life. After three days in a coma, the player died without regaining consciousness.

Relatives of the deceased said that one of the representatives of the rival team was among the attackers. Local police arrested three people on suspicion of murder.

Taylor Powell

In March 2010, in Klamath, California, USA, mixed martial arts fighter Taylor Powell was brutally murdered during training. His sparring partner Jerrod Wyatt drank a cup of tea infused with hallucinogenic mushrooms and decided that his comrade was possessed by the devil.

Wyatt plunged a knife into the 21-year-old fighter's chest, ripped out his heart and burned it. When the police arrived, the criminal was lying naked next to the mutilated and dismembered corpse of his comrade. The killer's lawyer argued that at the time of the crime, Wyatt was not aware of his actions because he was under the influence of psychotropic substances, but this did not affect the court's decision, which sentenced the killer to death.
