DIY “floating cup” topiary. A floating cup is an interesting souvenir as a gift

Nowadays, any gift can be purchased in stores without any hassle. But it’s still difficult to find a truly stylish and original thing. Often, in order not to run around looking for something like that, we simply give money in envelopes. In this MK I propose to do an interesting thing using money, or rather coins, with your own hands. Working on a DIY money waterfall craft will not take much time and effort, and the result will pleasantly surprise and delight you. It would be appropriate to give such an attractive souvenir not only to family and friends, but also to friends and work colleagues. Another plus of this work is that you can make the most of any small items lying around.

To work you will need:

1. Coffee cup with saucer;
2. Glue - gun;
3. Old fork or spoon;
4. Coins of the same size;
5. Scotch tape;
6. Synthetic foam rubber;
7. Pliers;
8. Varnish - spray.

1. First we will make a frame on which the cup will rest. For this purpose, it is best to use an old, worn-out fork or spoon. Using pliers, carefully break off the tines of the fork (approximately halfway) and bend it into a wave.

We glue one tip of the fork to the saucer with silicone glue, and the opposite one to inside cups.

The silicone glue that we will use throughout the work instantly holds all the parts together, so no drying time is required. The “saucer-cup” design should stand stably on the table; if suddenly the cup outweighs the weight, then use your hands to slightly change the shape of the fork and achieve stable operation.

2. Now we wrap the fork with synthetic foam rubber (it is often included in boxes with shoes or household appliances)

and secure it with tape.

3. And finally, the most enjoyable and creative part of the work is decorating the fork with coins. Coins must be of the same color and size, preferably not dirty or rusty. It's best to glue them reverse side, i.e. the coat of arms should be on the outside, and the denomination should be on the inside. It is more convenient to stick coins from below,

gradually rising upward. As you work, you need to make sure that the money waterfall is even on both sides.

4. And at the end of the work, the waterfall made of coins must be varnished,

This is done to ensure that the coins do not lose their silver shine over time. For this purpose, it is most convenient to use varnish - a spray in a can. You need to varnish a coin waterfall in a well-ventilated area, for example on a balcony. After the varnish is completely dry, the craft is ready!

Today I will show you many options for such cups with photographs and videos, and also provide detailed master class, after which you should also have a desire.

I am sure that such a composition of coffee, for example, or fruit, will not interfere with your kitchen and will add some zest to the interior. For good luck, you can make a floating mug from coins or cereals; these are also great for gifts.

Well, friends, go ahead, read, remember, repeat and share information in in social networks. Surely you will help someone with choosing a gift.

Floating cup photo

Photos in any work are an integral part of the description, here too it’s impossible without it. After all, to repeat the work, descriptions are not always enough, and then step-by-step photographs or videos should come to the rescue.

I’ll show you the video below, but for now I suggest you admire the photos of the floating cups.

These are just a few options, there are many more, and I will introduce you to some of them today. I’ll tell you a few master classes, and also reveal secrets that you won’t find anywhere.

How to make a floating cup

For this master class, as for many others, first of all you will need a cup or mug with a plate. I don’t recommend taking a large plate; a regular saucer will do just fine. Although if you are making a composition with a waterfall, then you will need a slightly larger plate for a beautiful design.

This work cannot be done without glue, scissors, wire and a base component. I don’t call the cup the basis, but what you use to make it with, flowers or coffee, for example.

The principle of a master class is the same everywhere, they differ only in some subtleties and sizes. You can see all this in the photo under each detailed description.

DIY floating cup master class

Let's start, friends, and get to work, now I will describe in detail how to make a floating cup with your own hands with flowers, coffee, coins, kanzashi and even a waterfall.

Floating cup with flowers

It seems that just recently I was showing off my floating mug on my website, talking about how to make it beautifully with my own hands, describing each step step by step and showing photos.

Today I will again touch on this topic and the cup with flowers, and if you want to read the master class in more detail, I recommend clicking.

To create a cup with flowers you will need

  • Saucer
  • Mug
  • Gypsum
  • A piece of cable
  • Artificial flowers
  • Glue
  • Scissors

In fact, plaster can be replaced with hot glue, but it does not hold very tightly and you need a lot of it. This is up to your discretion, I’ll just share the photo and you can clearly see how the mug and saucer are held together.

So far there are no flowers, no kanzashi, no coffee with coins, just a skeleton. Please note that I connected two objects together with an electrical cable; many people use a regular kitchen fork, but I didn’t have an extra fork at home for creativity.

The next thing you need to do is divide the artificial flowers into separate buds or inflorescences and glue them one by one onto the cable. Here I recommend using glue gun.

The order of gluing the flowers should be from top to bottom, this will make it easier for you to shape the cup with flowers. I added a few lemons to the flowers, and in the end I got this floating cup with flowers and two fruits.

The photo shows that the cup is very high, but they can be made much lower. For example, a cup of coffee is almost half the height.

Floating cup of coffee

A floating coffee mug also consists of a cup, saucer, glue, and naturally aromatic coffee beans.

The basic principle is the same. Only here we can glue our twig from the cup to the plate using hot glue, because the base of the dishes is not smooth. You can buy such a set of dishes at a decor store or make it yourself, although ordinary ceramic utensils are also suitable for a cup of coffee.

I strongly recommend that you do not wash coffee beans before work, as many do, in order to wash away supposed dust. This is neither true nor correct; there is no need to wash coffee. You can choose any variety; the cheaper, the better for your budget.

To save coffee, I advise you to wrap a rod or fork on which your beans will be attached with paper and then with tape, giving it a trapezoid or flared shape. But after that you can get on with your main work.

Take coffee beans and glue them onto the surface with the wide part to the tape, when you have covered the entire surface, then attach the second layer of coffee in a chaotic manner.

As a result, you should end up with a floating cup of coffee like the one in the photo, or something like this.

Floating cup of kanzashi

Kanzashi, this fabulous word carries brightness and festive mood. In fact, this technique came to us from Japan, it was invented by artisans. They turned pieces of silk fabric and ribbon into flowers using tongs and rice glue. Later, we adopted their skills, made changes and began creating jewelry, hairpins and other compositions.

The floating kanzashi cup is no exception, just look at this photo, all the work was done by hand, this is a master class.

The work is done exactly the same as an ordinary floating mug with flowers, which I wrote about at the very beginning, only here the flowers in this case are made by hand.

Floating cup video

And here is the long-awaited master class on creating a floating cup. In this video you can learn the technique and rules and discover something new for yourself.

If you have any questions after watching this video, you can ask them in the comments.

Floating fruit cup

And I made this cup of fruit, which you will now see in the photo, on the first day of spring. After an evening walk, inspiration suddenly struck me, and I decided to create such beauty.

For this master class I needed flowers and fruits, coffee and coins, I did not sculpt here. And instead of paper and tape, I used a clean sock. I wrapped it around the power cable and secured the edges with hot glue. Here's a photo for you.

The next thing I did was glue some white flowers in places, I had them left over from the previous cup.

This is the spring floating cup with flowers and fruits I got.

How do you like it, my friends?

Floating cup with coins

And this master class is suitable for people who believe in Feng Shui and others otherworldly forces. Usually such a cup with coins is given to attract money and finance.

You can use any coins for such a gift, as long as they are clean. Remember, I advised you not to wash the coffee beans, but here everything is just the opposite. Take warm water, dilute detergent in it and rinse your coins for the floating mug there.

Then wait for them to dry and you can get down to business.

I recommend reducing the height of this composition a little and making it small, so that the distance from the cup to the plate is about 15 centimeters. This way, fewer coins will be spent, and the cup will look more luxurious.

The operating principle is the same as in previous flying mugs.

Floating cup waterfall

And this handmade waterfall cup should surprise many. Here we do not use a cable and a kitchen fork to connect a cup and a plate, but an ordinary plastic bottle.

We cut off the neck and bottom of the bottle, then divide the cylinder into 4 parts. Now we bring one of the parts to an open fire, let it be a gas stove. And hold it at a distance of 30cm above the fire and adjust the ends of the plastic. Part of the bottle should warp and the ends should bend into opposite sides, How english letter"Z". Like in this photo.

Further work is the same as in all previous master classes. We attach our plastic to the cutlery not with plaster, but with hot glue, wait until everything is fixed, and then we take another glue, for example “dragon” or “pristige”.

For a waterfall you need transparent glue. We begin to slowly pour this glue over our piece of plastic from top to bottom. This process should take place in several stages at intervals of time. To apply each subsequent layer, the previous one must be dry.

Once you have a suitable shape, take hot glue in your hands and glue various shells, pebbles, decorative greenery and sea creatures to the waterfall.

This floating waterfall mug is perfect for a gift.

Friends, as you can see, there is nothing complicated. Today I told you and showed you a photo of how to make floating cups with your own hands with kanzashi flowers, coins, fruits, ordinary flowers, and even a master class of waterfall cups.

Share this beauty with your friends. Have a good mood.

With love, Nina Kuzmenko.

Crafts in the “frozen waterfall” style serve as a magnificent interior decoration. An example would be a do-it-yourself floating cup; the master classes in this article will introduce you in detail to all the stages of creating such an unusual thing.

Inexhaustible streams

An impromptu stream of water, as well as streams of money, flowers and other objects that personify prosperity, abundance, and profit can “flow” from a floating cup.

A waterfall looks the most natural, which is why many people prefer this “natural” look of a floating cup for decoration.

Let's look at how to simulate flowing water from a floating cup using the example of the next master class.

Components:

  • shells, pebbles, sea stars and other marine decorative items;
  • artificial greenery - leaves, twigs;
  • cup, saucer;
  • glue "Titan";
  • heat gun and glue sticks;
  • 1.5 liter plastic bottle made of transparent or blue plastic;
  • scissors.

Cut two long parts from the bottle with scissors as in the photo.

Bring each part in turn to the gas stove and hold it over it so that the plastic begins to deform and take on a smooth, sinuous shape. The top and bottom of the plastic pieces need to be modeled so that they are flat and fit well into the cup and saucer.

Carefully and thickly glue the first blank with “Titanium” and glue it so that one end is inside the cup and the other is in the saucer. Using the same principle, glue the second part with one end to the outer part of the cup and the other to the saucer. Using some auxiliary stands, secure the structure until it dries completely.

Then form “water”. Slowly pour Titan glue.

Note! If the glue drips too quickly, you will need to correct it from the bottom up with a wooden stick.

The glue will “cover” the plastic, and thanks to its transparent texture and bubbles, it will create an imitation of frozen water.

Decorate the saucer with prepared natural material, laying out pebbles and shells in a circle, gluing them either to the “Titan” or using a heat gun. Decorate the cup with the same elements. Arrange the green branches evenly so that the whole composition looks harmonious.

If you are preparing a gift for Easter, you can make a floating cup with eggs.

A step-by-step description of creating such a cup is in the master class below.

Prepare:

  • saucer and cup;
  • fork (or wire);
  • heat gun;
  • empty quail eggs, paints;
  • Easter chickens;
  • artificial flowers;
  • glue;
  • adhesive plaster.

Glue strips of adhesive tape to the bottom of the saucer and to the side of the cup where the stream will “drain” so that the glue will adhere well.

Bend the fork so that its edges fit well to the saucer and cup. Using a heat gun, coat them thoroughly and secure them with stands so that the structure dries well.

Remove the contents from the quail eggs by carefully piercing them with a syringe.

Dry and paint them in the desired color.

Start gluing the eggs, filling the voids between them with flowers and willow branches or whatever you have. Move from bottom to top, forming a “flow”.

You can glue lace ribbons, fluffy chickens, and sisal into the composition.

When gluing, try to cover the entire surface of the “stream” so that there are no gaps.

The finished Easter floating cup will look best on a crocheted napkin.

Magic grains

When thinking about the decor of a kitchen or dining room, they prefer to use some elements related to cereals, nuts, sweets, and spices. Therefore, for kitchen decoration, floating cups look very harmonious with coffee. Appearance and the aroma of coffee beans makes you want to pause, sit down and enjoy a delicious drink.

For lovers of a hot, invigorating drink, we suggest making a steaming cup not in the classic form, but in a slightly unusual way. We suggest making a “floating” Turk with coffee flowing into a cup.

You will need:

  • Turk;
  • coffee cup and saucer;
  • thick wire;
  • chocolate acrylic paint;
  • acrylic clear varnish;
  • heat gun;
  • coffee beans.

Not everyone is ready to sacrifice a new Turk for a craft, the old one will not have decorative look, therefore, following the advice of experienced craftswomen, an imitation of a Turk can be easily made from a cheap aluminum cup by attaching to it a small handle made from any available materials.

Apply hot glue to the Turk, while it has hardened, you need to immerse the wire in it, after making a loop for stability.

Fix the wire and wait until it hardens. It is advisable to carefully pour several grains into the still hot glue so that they are slightly immersed in the mass.

Pour hot glue into the cup and, immersing the other end of the wire there, fix it so that it also hardens.

When the entire structure has dried, wrap the wire with a napkin glued with PVA glue, immediately forming the shape of a stream.

Pour hot glue on all sides of the prepared surface, inserting coffee beans evenly into the still warm mass.

Glue that is not covered with grains must be painted with acrylic paint. If it is too thick, you can thin it with acrylic varnish.

Carefully and painstakingly paint the stream from all sides. Ideally, you should get a thick stream, similar to hot chocolate or coffee mixed with coffee beans.

To make the entire structure monolithic, you need to glue a saucer to the bottom of the cup.

If you form the shape of the stream perfectly, as the master did in the photo, then the composition will come out magical and absolutely natural.

Such “inexhaustible flows” would be appropriate as New Year's gift. The filler can be natural materials or coins.

Floating cups with flowers are more suitable for the spring holidays.

Instructions for making a floating cup with money

Now, before our eyes, an amazing exhibit is being created - a floating cup with money. Making this souvenir with your own hands is not only easy, but also indescribably pleasant. Below we will describe step by step the actions that a needleworker must take if he decides to take on the creation of a wonderful waterfall.

Stage No. 1 - bending the fork

Armed with pliers, you need to try to bend the fork as shown in the photo instructions attached to this article. The secret is to have the pair of middle teeth of the cutlery set back slightly, and the outer teeth pointed slightly forward. The opposite end, that is, the fork handle, must be bent in such a way as to achieve a tight fit of this part to the stand, that is, to the saucer.

step 1 - bending the fork

Stage No. 2 - attaching the fork to the plate with glue

So that the monolithic structure can be freely mixed and held in your hands, you need to tightly glue the prepared fork to the saucer using the universal “Moment”. After connecting the two surfaces, you must wait 2 hours.

step 2 - attaching the fork and adding weight

Stage No. 3 - adding the first batch of coins

The base of the fork needs to be strengthened by gluing some money. They also need to be glued on.

step 3 - sticker of the first batch of coins

Stage No. 4 - fixing the mug and adding a second batch of coins

Having placed the edge of the mug on the fork in the same way as in the attached photo, you should fix the objects and, of course, stick a certain amount of money. The glue is applied in the required quantities without skimping and is applied strictly in accordance with the instructions attached to it.

Stage No. 5 - creating a foam base with threads

By applying the foam to the fork, we create a base where the money waterfall will flow. The foam base must be tightly tied with threads to the fork, making several turns and tying a knot at the end.

Stage No. 6 - gluing the bulk of the coins

The previous two steps are optional. Using a glue gun, you need to carefully decorate the foam base with money. In the simplest version of decoration, this step can be considered the final one; all that remains is to wait for the glue to dry completely. For those who wish to create a super-attractive masterpiece, it is recommended to go through one additional step, described below.

step 6 - creating a waterfall from coins

Stage No. 7 - applying gilding to money

All coins are coated with gold paint by spraying it from a spray can. According to the advice of folk craftsmen, you should first glue unpainted coins, and only then give them a golden color, thus, the result looks as aesthetically pleasing as possible and the design is practical. To protect individual parts that you do not plan to spray with gold paint, you can temporarily apply tape. Final stage Coloring will require some effort, but the resulting creation will be pleasing to the eye.

the final step is to apply gold plating to the coins and cup cup with bow coins and paper money

The appearance of this handmade jewelry, without exaggeration, can be called fascinating. Having such a beautiful thing in the house, the owners notice how this item attracts the eye, sets the mood for positivity and creates a feeling of celebration. A great use for this simple craft would be as a gift. to a loved one, but you can build such a structure for yourself. To each to modern man You will love the unusual floating cup with money. - epoxy glue;
- electrical tape;
- degreaser;
- figurine for decoration (optional).

Do-it-yourself floating cup with money - master class:

We will attach the coins to the wire, so the first thing you need to do is take two pieces of wire and bend them like this. The size of the wire depends on the height of the composition you choose. I take a wire 20 cm long.

Next, the wire must be folded together and the tip wrapped with electrical tape to the middle. Spread the lower part of the wire.

The tea saucer must be thoroughly wiped with a degreaser so that the wire piece sticks well.

Press well and hold for a while. As soon as the glue sets, you need to leave the saucer with the workpiece until it dries completely.
Next, you need to glue the cup to the top of the wire blank. Glue it in the same way. Leave until completely dry.

Now it's time to glue the coins. It is also advisable to wipe them well with a degreaser before gluing them for better adhesion to the glue.

This is how the composition turns out.

I made a bow from raffia.

And glued it to the cup.

So you have made a floating cup of money with your own hands. You can decorate the composition at your own discretion.
