Let's dwell on the difficulties that may arise.

1. Pay attention to this diagram (union...), , (union...).

The sentence begins with a subordinating conjunction, then it will not be at the junction, at the beginning of the next sentence (the main one). Most often in such constructions there are conjunctions if, when, so that, as soon as, since and etc.
