DIXIT: everything ingenious is harmonious. Board game Truth or Dare: forget about complexes

The board game Truth or Dare has been familiar to most people since adolescence. Everyone at least once got together in a group and asked this tricky question. How difficult it was to choose! Taking action is always scary, but some questions can be even more dangerous. Often it took more time to select a task than to complete it.

Over time, the game was forgotten and the players began to devote all their time to work, household responsibilities and other “adult” matters. But who said that college graduates cannot gather around the table and remember their youth with new version games 18+?

When playing with new friends, the set will eliminate awkwardness and allow you to get to know each other better. At the end of the game, you will know a surprising amount about your guest, and after a minute of hugging, which was provoked by the action card, you will definitely feel more comfortable in the company of your new friend.

Anyone who has reached the age of majority can play

What's in the set?

Red cards contain provocative questions that can make you blush. Orange cards describe actions that need to be completed. According to the participants, gray tasks are the most interesting. The game includes two hundred thirty-two cards of four types

Rules and course of the game

The rules of Truth or Dare 18 years of the game are simple: draw cards and do what is written on them. All specifications for the tasks are described in detail in the booklet with the rules. There you will also see a list of possible wishes for the game and questions. In the game there are risky tasks, and many options for frank questions. The game will make the evening cool, funny and memorable. To begin relaxing and testing the courage of those gathered, you need to:

  • Take all the cards out of the box and distribute them into three piles. If modest people are gathered at the table and are not ready for personal questions, remove the red cards from the game. If everyone wants to test their modesty, mix them with blue questions.
  • Sit around a table or other flat surface so that all participants can reach the cards or leave the table if necessary.
  • Decide who will go first. This can be done by agreeing or remembering who last played Truth or Dare. Plus, you can’t find a compromise, and everyone has problems with memory, determine the first mover by drawing lots.

The game will make the evening cool, funny and memorable

What tasks?

The types of tasks in the game are distinguished by the colors of the map. You decide for yourself which one to take during your move. Blue questions do not touch on personal or vulgar topics. They are the easiest to answer, because most often they ask you to tell about the most shameful incident in your life or are interested in which literary characters you associate yourself with. Sometimes you come across cards that allow you to personally ask a question to another player. Moreover, it must be tricky, but only you decide what exactly to ask.

On the red cards, participants will see much less modest questions. Some of them will touch on the topic of personal relationships, others concern sex life. Either way, this deck will make players blush. Important rule: Lying is strictly prohibited in the game. If your answer turns out to be incorrect, you may be kicked out of the game.

Frank questions

Frank questions might look like this:

  • "Are you turned on by pornography? What kind?"
  • "Name three sensitive areas on your body."
  • "Describe your funniest sexual experience."

Game box and cards

    • The types of tasks in the game differ according to the colors of the cards

Orange cards will force participants to leave the table to perform specified action. This is a great opportunity to show off your creative skills and show off all the artistry you can muster. The assignments vary in topic and requirements, so there is something for everyone. Here are examples of actions that the card may ask for:

  1. “Show everyone present what is in your pockets/bag.”
  2. "Give the person sitting next to you a warm hug. Stay there for a minute."
  3. "Sing the song of Mikhail Boyarsky, imitating his style of performance."

The most interesting maps according to the players - gray. They describe long-term actions. They do not need to be completed right away. Try to make it difficult for participants to understand whether you are on task or just being a little weird. The activities are risk-free: no one will force you to drink bleach or run naked down the street. They cannot be called dangerous, except perhaps strange and funny. The wish lists you'll see on the cards vary in theme and complexity, but they're all "cool" according to the participants. Here are examples of tasks that you may receive:

  • “Start sitting in the weirdest awkward position possible.”
  • "Try to act like the dark lord Darth Vader, whatever that means."
  • "Persuade other players to ask only vulgar questions, assuring them that everyone else is boring."
  • "Start flirting with two players of the opposite sex at once."
For especially artistically executed gray cards, the game provides a “delicious” bonus

Who will like it?

Truth or Dare is a game for adults who love noisy parties. If friends are coming to you or a large company is going to celebrate a holiday, take out a set and lay out the cards. From two to twenty people can participate in such entertainment at the same time, so it is suitable even for really large companies. Two people can draw cards, so even at dinner with best friend or beloved Ira will be relevant.

In theory, the game is suitable for children, but parents will have to go through all the available cards in the set and select only the acceptable ones. Therefore, the authors advise only persons over eighteen years of age to participate in the entertainment. Funny leisure time for players is guaranteed. And most importantly, in entertainment there are no winners and losers, so there will be no disputes about “who has more points and who cheated.”

How to find a song idea when there are no ideas at all?

Should I sing a love song? A pop tune and poetry, and receive royalties all your life. But how can you do it so that you still “receive a fee”, and not, as further in the text, “maybe next time”? Calm down, there are a whole bunch of ideas for ideas around!

First of all, we need to fire up our right hemisphere brain, responsible for emotions, images and creativity in general. To do this, get ready to work with color pictures, emotions and images. This means that it’s better to write down the ideas that come to your head with felt-tip pens, and even better – to sketch them. After all, one picture contains an infinite number of images, and words can convey only a few of them. By the way, to improve your associations, you can contemplate board game cards on... associations (“Dixit”, “Imaginarium”, etc.) Their images can be easily found on the Internet.

Then connect the left hemisphere, which is responsible for logic. Think about who your songs are addressed to. What do these people care about? What are they interested in? Obviously, even the most best composition, addressed to a non-target audience, will most likely pass by it.

Next, proceed to the actual creativity. The most win-win, but also the most hackneyed option is a song about eternal values. Depending on the different audience of listeners, this could be love, fidelity, heroism, wealth, power. On the one hand, all this will worry humanity as long as people are alive, but, on the other hand, every year more and more new songs are released on this topic - despite the fact that the old ones are not going anywhere.

However, you can make a feint with your ears and, taking eternal value, talk about it in an unusual setting. The love of vampires, the loyalty of zombies, the feat of an unhappy lover from a parallel universe, and so on. Remember the band Lordi or Marilyn Manson? You see, you remember them, but you don’t remember the rules for adding complex fractions. And all because the comrades changed their surroundings, stood out from the general picture and became noticeable. The same thing works with songs.

How to create a bunch of combinations of incompatible things in order to implement the previous point? Do you remember the game in school childhood, where the first words that came to mind were written down on a piece of paper in the columns “who comes where, what says” and so on? And then they took words in different lines and got something like “A dinosaur comes to a parent meeting and says - Allah Akbar! And here on the loudspeaker - we don’t need those. And everyone started dancing." So, the plot of the song can be born after filling out such a sign!

Press headlines, preferably yellow ones, can also come to our aid. The songs “The Magnet Girl Can’t Get Out of the Subway” and “The Killed Chicken Spoke in Hindi” may well become hits.

A simpler option is to rely on some bright, memorable phrase. Sergei Shnurov has a feeling that in his work there is only such an option, which is worth the super-obsessive “on Louboutins nah” alone. Or “Vitya needs to go out” from Estradarada. Yes, here you can use... children's rhymes to search for similar phrases or lines. “The chicken on the street almost disappeared because the chicken walks everywhere” - I swear, even I wanted to write a song about this story with an unpredictable ending.

Also, do not be lazy to notice and remember any details - they can form the basis of your essay. Cobain wrote one of his most famous compositions after seeing the writing on the wall: “Kurt smells like teen spirit.” The idea for “Aluminum Cucumbers” came to Tsoi while working on a collective farm, where the cucumbers had a metallic tint. Queen's "Radio Ga Ga" is a modification of "radio kaka", spoken by the young son of the band's drummer.

If you're too lazy to invent, you can just open latest news, find some hype topic and play a composition on it. Semyon Slepakov sometimes does this and, judging by the popularity of his works, this is a good way.

Finally, if after reading this text and much thought nothing comes to mind, it doesn’t matter. You already have a couple of ideas! These are your dreams. Try to describe them figuratively, it will turn out very emotional - and this is exactly what you need!

“The biggest stress after purchasing a game is understanding its rules” (Imaginarium).

How I love board games. I can play them for hours on end, changing one game for another, but always choosing a board that suits my mood and company.
Dixit has long established itself as one of the most popular board games in the world. Suitable for a company of 3 - 7 players. The game set includes a deck of cards with bright, slightly childish drawings by French artist Maria Cardot and a playing field with figures. The point of the game is to come up with associations for your cards, and then guess the cards of your friends based on their associations. Relatively recently, Russian manufacturers decided to make a “double” famous game.

I read it on the Internet several times negative reviews regarding the scarcity and lack of color of the Imaginarium cards, and to be honest, I wasn’t even going to play it. But, quite unexpectedly, this particular game was given to me for my birthday.
The first thing that caught my eye was the truly originally written rules, which are not annoying, at times you can even giggle. On the playing field, unlike Dixit, there are special cells: “come up with an association in four words”, “pick up an association associated with the brand”, “name the association using an interrogative sentence”.
And now about the cards. When I started looking through them, all my friends (crazy Dixit fans) were very surprised. Yes, the cards were different! And how! I immediately had a desire to write “21+” on the box, and nothing else! There were naked girls on the maps, zombies in the Moscow subway, aliens with an open skull... Because of this, the game suddenly seemed terribly dark.
But the first impression turned out to be deceiving. Having played Imaginarium several times, and then Dixit again, we all came to a unanimous decision: “the duplicate game is no worse, and perhaps better, than the original.” The Imagenarium pictures are much richer and more detailed: this gives enormous scope for creativity, fantasy and associations. The only thing you need to do is throw a dozen cards into the trash bin.

The dog sits down to play the accordion,
Red cats dive into the aquarium,
Canaries begin to knit socks,
Children water their flowers from a watering can,
The old man is lying on the window, sunbathing,
And my granddaughter’s grandmother plays with dolls,
And the fish read funny books,
Having quietly taken them away from the boy...

Tall tale

  • From 3 players
  • From 30 minutes
  • Game difficulty: Easy

Dixit is a very popular board game of French origin. It was first published in 2008 and managed to win many prestigious awards. The game is based on associations, sometimes completely unexpected.

Wow, what kind of psychedelic game is this?

From Latin "dixit" translated as "he said". The essence of the game “Dixit” is to invent and solve associations based on cards with pictures. The game develops imagination and abstract thinking well and helps players begin to better understand each other.

The description of picture cards can be limited to the word “strange”. Straight stories and unambiguous images you won't find it here. But that’s the point! Because there is much more room for imagination.

And there are a lot of pictures. In addition to the basic kit, there are additions:

  • "Dixit Odyssey"
  • "Dixit 2: Discovery" ("Dixit 2: Discovery"),
  • "Dixit 3" ("Dixit 3: The Journey"),
  • "Dixit 4" ("Dixit 4: Origins"),
  • "Dixit 5" ("Dixit 5: Dreams"),
  • "Dixit 6" ("Dixit 6: Memories"),
  • "Dixit 7" ("Dixit 7: Revelations") and
  • "Dixit 8" ("Dixit 8: Harmony").

And each set contains 84 cards. You can go for a walk! But there is also “Dixit Jinx” - a speed association game. It is significantly different from the main one, but it is no worse for training your imagination.

Who is Dixit suitable for?

Each new batch– every time it’s a journey into a fantasy world. The players in Dixit are varied: children and adults, cheerful and serious. It is primarily recommended for family vacation, age limit is only 6+. The rules are simple enough for anyone to understand. Dixit is also suitable for big company, however, if there are more than six people, you will have to split into teams.

Oh, is this something like “Imaginarium”?

Quite the contrary. This is modeled after Dixit. But yes, they have the same idea, the same principle of the game and similar rules. Even the playing field is built into the box in both cases.

What's the difference then?

The card game "Dixit" is kinder and sweeter, while "Imaginarium" is darker, there is a lot of dark humor in it.

The pictures for “Dixit” were purposefully drawn by one artist, and the work of dozens of authors was collected for them.

How else is the first game different from the second? Packaging. The Dixit chest box is intended strictly for one deck, and in the Imaginarium, if you raise the playing field, you can fit all the additions.

With good reflection, it is difficult to say which is better - “Dixit” or “Imaginarium”. Both games are interesting, colorful, and develop imagination. The key difference is in the mood created and, accordingly, the audience to which they are directed. "Dixit" more family game, “Imaginarium” is primarily intended for adults. Plus, “Imaginarium” is a Russian game and simply costs less.

Number of players

The game "Dixit" is designed for a group of friends from 3 to 6 people per basic set and up to 12 in Dixit: The Odyssey. Each player has his own bunny chip. If there are more than six participants, then it is better to split into teams to play in pairs or threes.

Purpose of the game

The goal of “Dixit” is not to demonstrate one’s knowledge, but to be able to guess “what the author meant.” When solving this puzzle, both the professor and the student find themselves in equal conditions. AND simple luck won’t help, because you don’t need to roll the dice, but unravel the narrator’s associations.

Will I win if everyone guesses correctly or if everyone doesn’t guess?

Quite the contrary, when the association turns out to be too easy or too difficult, the leader does not receive a single point. Ideally, you should strive to ensure that all players except one guess correctly - this will give you the most points. And if you play and play and guess nothing or guess everything, then the presenter earns nothing, and the players get two points.

Equipment

Dixit has quite simple rules games. To figure them out, just look into the box. The board game "Dixit" is based on cards with pictures - and this is its main material component. Metaphorical cards force you to hold your gaze and thought on yourself.

The playing field is built into the box; there is no need to take it out and unfold it. The chips are presented in the form of six multi-colored rabbits made of painted wood.

The equipment in Dixit: Odyssey is slightly different. The board game “Dixit: Odyssey” is designed for a large group, so there are as many as 12 rabbits in it, the scoring field is laid out separately, instead of tokens there are voting markers and each player has a separate voting board.

« Dixit 2" - an addition containing only new cards, 84 pieces. Just like Dixit 3, Dixit 4, Dixit 6 and other additional sets.

But the game “Dixit Jinx” consists of 80 cards (71 picture cards and 9 location cards).

If we compare “Dixit” or “Imaginarium”, then the differences in configuration are insignificant. Only “Dixit” has 6 rabbit figures and 84 cards, and “Imaginarium” has 7 elephant figures and 98 cards. Plus, association games in Imaginarium are more suitable for adults, while games in Dixit can be played with the whole family.

Appearance

The big beautiful box looks like it was meant to be given as a gift. On the cover beautiful sunrise, into which the airship flies away, several examples of cards and the slogan: "A picture is worth a thousand words". Just from the cover you can imagine what Dixit is.

What is in the box

The basic set contains:

  • deck of 84 cards with pictures. The size of the cards is 8 by 12 centimeters. Their shirt is orange with the word "Dixit" written on it;
  • 36 cardboard voting tokens (6 per player);
  • 6 multi-colored wooden rabbits, they are also chips that players use;
  • 30-step playing field built into the box;
  • rules.

Rules of the game

Dixit is a board game with quite simple rules. Even a child can figure out how to play Dixit. The presenter makes an association on the card, everyone else guesses. The one who guessed well and those who guessed well receive points. Whoever scored more in the end won.

In Dixit: Odyssey, the rules are almost the same. All features are related to the fact that the game is designed for large quantity participants. In addition to cards and tokens, players take voting markers, if there are up to 6 players, then one at a time, if there are more, then two. The cards are laid out, and participants can cast their vote for one of them or two on a special voting board, each with their own.

The rules of the game “Dixit” are in Russian in every box released in Russia. The board game "Dixit" is fully translated and licensed.

How is the game going?

The game proceeds according to the rules move by move. Each turn consists of several stages: distribution of cards, the storyteller wishing for a card, player responses, voting and scoring.

For "Dixit: Odyssey" in addition to the basic rules, if the rules are for Dixit Party (for 6-12 players) and for Team Dixit (for 6, 8, 10 or 12 players). They are described in detail in the attached booklet.

Progress of the game

Do you know who the green-eyed catdog is?

The game begins with everyone receiving 6 cards and looking at them thoughtfully, trying to understand what associations they evoke. The flight of fancy is not limited, and the pictures give it direction. Although sometimes it can be difficult to give a sane name to “this” shown on the map. The first one to come up with at least one association becomes the storyteller.

Guessing the leader's card

Each turn the presenter (narrator) changes clockwise. It is his association that all players will figure out. It should not be too complicated, but not too simple either. Even in an unfamiliar company, you can get used to it in one or two games.

The leader's move and the players' responses

So, the narrator chooses one of his cards and names an association on it. It can be a phrase, a word or a sound. For example, “fy-fyr”. The rest must choose a card from their hand, about which you can also say “fy-fyr” and give it into the hands of the storyteller, without showing it to anyone else. For a 3-player game, 7 cards are dealt, and participants give 2 cards each.

The presenter shuffles these cards and places them face up on the table. Cards are numbered from left to right. Players begin to guess which card was originally. When they believe the answer has been found, each participant steals a token in front of them with the number of the card they believe to be correct. Places it face down, because the vote is secret. You cannot vote for your card.

When all the tokens are laid out, they are flipped over and transferred to the corresponding cards.

Scoring

If the card was guessed by everyone or not guessed by anyone, then the storyteller is assigned to blame, and he is left without points, while the rest receive two points. In another situation, the presenter receives 3 points, as do the players who gave the correct answer. Those whose card was “guessed” by mistake receive 1 point (but not more than three). In “Dixit: Odyssey”, when playing with 7 or more participants, those who correctly guessed the card and voted only for it receive one more point.

Scoring

Once all points have been scored, they are counted and players move their rabbits the appropriate number of steps forward.

End of turn

When the rabbits jumped forward, the turn goes to the next participant clockwise, that is, sitting to the left of the leader. Everyone draws one card so that they have 6 in their hands again.

End of the game

The game ends the moment someone takes the last card from the deck. After this, you can see how the rabbit has advanced the furthest. Whoever is the fastest wins.

In Dixit: The Odyssey, the end of the deck does not mean the end of the game: the discard is shuffled and goes around until someone reaches 30 points.

Additional materials

Illustrations

All the pictures on the cards were drawn by French artists Marie Cardois, Xavier Collette and Clement Lefebvre.

Marie Cardois worked on the game originally, and you will see her illustrations in Dixit, Dixit 2 and Dixit: Odyssey. Xavier Collette (who, by the way, created comics based on the work of Lewis Carroll) drew “Dixit 3”, and Clement Lefebvre, a book illustrator, drew “Dixit 4”.

All the drawings are distinguished by ambiguity and unusualness, as if they came from dreams, and not from reality.

Additional decks for games

Additional cards for Dixit can be obtained by purchasing one of the seven additional sets or the Dixit: Odyssey pack. There you will find even more surreal images for an exciting game.

Dear friends!

There are a lot of board games in the world. Every day, only in Japan, a new board game is released! Units are becoming popular and large companies buy licenses and translate them into their native language. More fewer games become worldwide hits. Today we will look at association games, which are among the most popular in the world. There are a lot of games with associations, so this article will be devoted to the most popular games with associations, which have various kinds of illustrations.

The first game from this line of games came to Russia. In the world she is, perhaps, the most popular game in its own form. The main difference between "Dixit" and many other games that were released later is that all the pictures in this game were drawn by one artist (Marie Cardois) . Many cards have similar elements, so during the game it’s quite easy to come up with associations for each of the pictures.

Game mechanics, like others similar games configured for communication and associations. Each round one of the participants becomes the leader. He chooses a card, makes an association for it (describes the picture in some way). The remaining participants select one of the cards from their hand and place it on the table together with the presenter. The presenter makes an association so that the players can guess his card, but not all of them. If all players have guessed correctly, or no one has guessed the leader's card, the leader will lose victory points.
