The well-known actor Alexey Guskov became a grandfather Wednesday, October 25, 2017 12:53 ()
Alexey Guskov, well known for his roles in cinema and theater, shared a joyful event in his life. But the actor did not boast about his new role, but said that he had become a grandfather for the first time.
Alexey announced the addition to the family in passing, talking about the activities of his children. “My wife and I thought that the younger one would follow this path, and the older one would do something else. But Dmitry went to VGIK to study at the production department, and the eldest, Vladimir, became an actor. Works at the Mayakovsky Theater. I also have a daughter from my first marriage. I recently became a grandfather, my granddaughter is two years old. Natalya wanted to go to acting, I immediately said that I could help her with admission, but I was not going to be responsible. As a result, my daughter graduated from linguistics. There is definitely no cronyism in my profession, I know this from my own example. Chance, yes, but not cronyism,” the Interlocutor quotes Alexei Guskov.
Meanwhile, for many years Guskov has been happily married to actress Lydia Velezheva. They say that it is the demand of both in the profession that is the key to a strong marriage. “When someone in a creative family doesn’t have a job, it spoils the relationship between the spouses. And all because of envy! Everything is great in this family: both are in demand, successful,” Guskov’s colleague Sergei Varchuk said in an interview.
They met while playing in the same play. “One day I was running up the stairs in the theater, and a girl was sitting on the steps and smoking. I didn’t have any matches, so I asked her for a light. Having lit a cigarette, he automatically put the box in his pocket and ran away. At the rehearsal, Lida, as it turned out her name was, looked at me for an hour and a half. I thought I liked it, but at the end she asked: “Are you going to return the matches?” After some time, we settled in a small room in a communal apartment, and our first child was born. Then we bought a second and third room - and it turned out to be a wonderful family nest,” said Guskov.
Alexey first tied the knot in his second year at the Moscow Art Theater School. Right on the street, a young student approached a nice girl named Tatyana to meet him. Soon they became husband and wife. But, as the actor himself now says, love quickly faded away. The interests and habits of the spouses categorically did not coincide, and besides, the young wife had not the slightest relation to the acting profession.
“We have been married for 10 years,” says Guskov. – You see, it’s just that the difference in professions and interests makes itself felt sooner or later. This greatly affects relationships, especially at a young age. I think that when people of different professions come together in adulthood, it is a completely different matter. And when you are building your life, and your partner is simultaneously building some of his own, it gets in the way. You don't understand your other half, and she doesn't understand you. This is all much more serious than, for example, some kind of domestic dispute over a closed or open window.”
From his first marriage, Alexei Guskov has not only unpleasant memories of misunderstandings with his wife. His and Tatyana’s daughter Natalya is already thirty-four years old. The actor also has a granddaughter, in whom the famous grandfather dotes. “When my family and I moved from Poland to Kyiv, I was seven years old,” continues Alexey. - I went to school. And my future wife had just been born at that time and then lived next door - on the other side of the railway. It’s necessary that we only met in Moscow. When this was found out in the first stages of our communication, it was, of course, surprising.”
Lydia Velezheva and Alexey Guskov met in the theater at a joint rehearsal. “Lida and I have a boring, banal, vulgar relationship between an actor and an actress, which has grown into family life. I was sitting on the stairs in the theater. A beautiful girl ran past me. She turned out to be a smoker. There were no lighters then, so she asked me for matches. I didn’t refuse - I gave. The girl brazenly put them in her pocket and ran away. And then it turned out that we came to the same rehearsal. I looked at her intently. I thought whether she would give me the matches or not. And she is happy, sits and thinks: “Why is he looking at me like that?! I guess I’m good!” recalls Guskov.
This is such a funny story. “As soon as I looked at Alexei, I immediately realized: this is my destiny,” Velezheva says in turn. - I don’t know what it was. Maybe some kind of premonition. But I looked at him at rehearsals and for some reason I knew that I would live with this man, he would be my husband.”
Lydia Velezheva and Alexey Guskov have been happily married for about thirty years. They have two sons: 28-year-old Vladimir and 22-year-old Dmitry. Last year, the eldest son gave his parents a beautiful granddaughter, Stefania. And it’s okay that before the family of Guskov and Velezheva became truly happy, they had to endure a number of trials: a communal apartment, a lack of money due to the lack of demand for artists, because of which, they even say, Guskov began to drink. But be that as it may, now the actor looks like a completely happy and accomplished person.
“I experienced my main life crisis at about 35 years old,” shares Guskov. – Before this, everything was kind of at random, lucky or unlucky. And after thirty-five I became a fatalist. My advice to everyone: you need to listen to life, it always offers us something. You just need to be able to make the right choice.”

The girl brazenly put them in her pocket and ran away. And then it turned out that we came to the same rehearsal. I looked at her intently. I thought whether she would give me the matches or not. And she is happy, sits and thinks: “Why is he looking at me like that?! I guess I’m good!” This is such a funny story,” the Sobesednik website quotes Guskov as saying.
As soon as she saw Alexei, Lydia immediately realized that he was her destiny. “I don’t know what it was. Maybe some kind of premonition. But I looked at him at rehearsals and for some reason I knew that I would live with this man, he would be my husband,” admitted Velezheva.

— Nowadays, few people can boast of such a strong marriage as yours. Having lived together for 24 years, are you still able to surprise each other?
Alexey: The last time I really surprised Lida was three years ago, when I unexpectedly got a Labrador.
Lydia: Lesha loves dogs! He was even born in the year of the Dog, and this probably explains a lot. Both the husband and sons periodically started talking about how wonderful it would be to have a dog. But the answer was always my categorical no. Because I was afraid to take responsibility for a living being: Lesha and I are always on the road, and even if we film in Moscow, the working hours are still irregular. And the children are learning. Who will walk the dog, feed it and care for it?
— That is, the husband and children had to be content with simpler animals? Hamsters and turtles?
Lydia: Even they weren’t there.
Alexey: Except for that white hamster that Vovka briefly rented from a friend as a child. We mistook him for a rat then!
Lydia: But three years ago Lesha surprised me. In the finale of the comedy “Love-Carrot 2,” my heroine, the villainess Levitskaya, turns into a Labrador. The film premiered on December 23, and two days later Lesha called me on my mobile with the words: “I bought you a wonderful gift for the New Year!” I, of course, started asking for details. But he ignored all my clarifying questions, only asked: “What time will you be home? When you arrive, call me and I’ll come out.” This alarmed me: a gift is a gift, but why greet people on the street? I arrived, called - Lesha immediately jumped out into the yard, which was also suspicious. I park, and he says: “I have prepared a wonderful gift for you, you will be very happy with it...” And he looks at me in a special way. I read everything in his eyes. I realized that the gift was an animal. And she said only one word - “no.” And he answered: “Yes.” Let's go to the entrance. Me again: “No!” He: “Yes!!!” So they walked to the apartment, conducting a monotonous but very emotional dialogue. We went home, and Mitya met me with a small black lump in his hands: “Mommy, look how cute...” I turned away: “Don’t even show it.” I was terribly upset: “Lord, this is a new problem, this is another child...” But as soon as I saw those eyes and muzzle, I melted: “Oh, what a beauty!”
Alexey: Then we carried out a secret operation worthy of James Bond. And it was our eldest son who encouraged us to take this adventure. I said to Volodya: “Can you imagine the amount of worries? Swear on your blood that you will take care of the dog yourself!” - “We will!” And the eldest and I went to choose a dog. And the youngest was only included in their plan a week later: they were afraid that he would blurt out to his mother. Our family is noisy, there are a lot of people, and everyone is emotional. Therefore, we needed a dog with a stable psyche, so that he would not figure out who was more important and would not turn his head when choosing who to protect. A friend of mine had a black Labrador in foster care who was constantly carrying toys and wagging his tail. And an acquaintance said: “You see, he behaves perfectly, he adapts calmly. A very smart dog." And we went to the breeder, chose the nicest of the nephews of that black Labrador and tied a red ribbon around his neck - it was too early to take him away from his mother. By the way, since then our Vizier has only had red collars. On the day we picked him up, there were terrible traffic jams on the roads. We crawled home at the speed of a sick snail - and we had to get there before Lida returned. That’s why we called her every now and then: “Lidochka, where are you? Why don't you stop by the store? When I ran out of excuses under which I could prolong her journey home, my sons got involved. We brought the dog into the apartment about ten minutes before Lida arrived... When we stormed her permission, everything turned out wonderful. Lida accepted him and fell in love. And now she doesn’t stay alone at the dacha - only with a defender.
— While he grew into a defender, did he manage to chew a lot of slippers?
Lydia: He gnawed exclusively on Lesha’s slippers. Alexey was looking for a dog who would not choose who is more important in the family. But a dog, even the smartest one
And peaceful, she still immediately identifies the main thing. And for Vizik, the leader of the pack is my husband.
Alexey: The situation is different here. When I bought the puppy, I had a serious problem with my knee. And I sat at home for three months and didn’t go anywhere. But even a dog is not allowed outside until it is three months old, until the first distemper vaccination. So he spent his entire early childhood with me. In dogs, a year goes by seven, so three months is four years in our human way.
Lydia: And now we hug only Lesha’s slippers, lie down and move only Lesha’s slippers with our paws, talk only to Lesha’s slippers. And when Lesha is about to leave and Vizik sees that Lesha is taking a suitcase...
Alexey: Yes, the most hated object in the house is a suitcase! It is not recommended to get ready for a trip with Vizir...
Lydia: He starts saying: “Y-y-y” - and looks displeased.
“You probably can’t imagine life without him.”
Lydia: Of course, I fell in love with this face at first sight. But she told my men: “You gave me a gift - you take care of it.” We agreed.
- But they were enough for a month at most?
Lydia: They, of course, are just great: they keep their word when they give it. These sons take after their father: Lesha, if he promises anything, will fulfill it, and so will the children. I must give my men their due: they are taking care of the Vizier. In three years, I never walked alone in the city with him. Maybe with my son for company, if the weather is good.
- What conscientious young people you have raised!
Lydia: This is true, and not only in the matter of walking the dog. Dimitri and Volodya have an age difference of 5 years, so they have different company, and both friends do not leave friends in trouble. If something happens, they rush to help and do everything that depends on them. And they are both very attentive. We have a three-story house, without an elevator, so they ask: “Mom, call me when you arrive at the house,” so they can come down and help me carry my bags. They will always give you a hand and help you put on your coat. Despite their different characters, they have these qualities in common.
- In what ways are they least alike?
Lydia: One likes to be the center of attention, the other doesn’t. The youngest loves it, he is incredibly sociable, sometimes even too sociable. Dimitry is a first-year student at VGIK, at the production department. He said: “Dad is an actor, mom is an actor, and my brother is also an actor. At least someone in the family must have a normal profession!” But when I remembered the stories of his teachers at school, how he made excuses for missing class, I began to doubt: maybe Dimitri should have gone to acting? The elder can also be the life of the party, but he does not like increased attention to his person. He graduated from the Shchukin School two years ago. I came to terms with my constant presence. What can I do, since I teach there! But when Lesha looked in there and everyone said: “God, artist Guskov!”, Volodya frowned: “Dad, well, that’s why you are there?” And Lesha justified himself: “I’m on business...” The son is trying to promote himself in the acting profession, he doesn’t want any help. And in this regard, he took after Lesha and me: we never asked anyone for anything.
When Volodya graduated from college and shows began in theaters, he basically did not go to Vakhtangovsky, where I work. Although I liked it and took it. He told me: “You understand perfectly well: if I come, no matter what role I get, they will say behind my back: “Well, of course, mommy helped.” And the children of other actors happily went to the theater to visit their parents, and possible gossip did not bother them one bit... I won’t undertake to judge anyone here - everyone does what’s best for him. My son decided: “Maybe later I’ll come to the Vakhtangov Theater. When I become famous, when I prove that I can do something myself.”
- It seems you were pleased with this act...
Lydia: Yes, and many in the theater appreciated it. They thought I would stick Volodya somewhere and talk to management. And I came, quietly watched the show and left without waiting for a discussion. She didn't ask anything. And only then did I find out that they wanted to take him, but he categorically refused. As a result, he serves at the Mayakovsky Theater. Recently the play “Mayakovsky Goes for Sugar” was released there, and the main role - the poet himself - is played by our Volodya.
— Did he let you into his premiere? Or are parents in the audience an additional stress for the young talent on stage?
Lydia: I still haven’t seen him in the role of Mayakovsky! But it’s not because parents are prohibited from entering, it’s just that the dates on which his performance and mine are performed at the Vakhtangov Theater coincide. I get upset, but he calms me down: “Mom, it’s okay, you’ll come back later. The show is just about to run out.” However, we not only see our son from the audience: all together - Lesha, Volodya and I - play in productions of the Millennium Theater House.
- And what is it like to play on stage with your own child? Are you very worried?
Lydia: You always worry about your child - when he takes an exam, when he goes somewhere, when he’s filming... If we play together, Volodya always keeps his distance. And when I make comments, it seems to him that I am violating this distance. I immediately hear: “Ma-am, it’s starting again...” - “Yes, I’m not speaking like my mother now! I advise you as an experienced actress, your partner.” But he still thinks: they say, mom is teaching again, she is always dissatisfied. He has the attitude: “I know everything myself and will do everything myself.” It’s immediately obvious how much he wants to quickly become an independent entity, and not just the son of Guskov and Velezheva.
— Alexey, you and your son also starred in the film “Autumn Cares.” Did they care much about him then?
Alexey: I can’t say that I took great care of him and gave him a lot of advice. But I looked closely. In general, it’s a special feeling to work together with an adult son, whom you seemed to have bottle-fed and bathed not so long ago...
— Is it scary to let them and Dimitri go into adulthood?
Alexey: Why be afraid? They don’t leave for unknown distances, we can call and meet at any time! And it is imperative to let children leave the nest, and on time, so that they can grow and develop properly and have their own interests. As life shows, people who were unable to escape from parental care in time are more vulnerable and unhappy.
Lydia: Lesha and I, when we were 17 years old, left our mothers for distant Moscow. And our sons are with us, and not in St. Petersburg, Kyiv or Makhachkala.
Lydia: This has been gone for a long time. My sons prefer to go to a club or a cafe. They are interested in adult life, and not candles on a cake at home.
— How do they congratulate you, what do they give you?
Lydia: What they don’t give! Flowers, pendants, chains... For her last birthday, the always freezing mother was given a chic, warm jacket. I’m capricious, it’s hard to please me, but I wear a sweater all the time - and I see that the guys are pleased.
— Which of the latest gifts from Alexey do you like best?
Lydia: Car. Volkswagen Touareg.
Alexey: What kind of gift is this if we bought it with money we earned together?!
Lydia: Like what? Traditional! You bought me the first car, you also bought the second and third, and only the fourth we bought together. You gave me the beautiful half of this car!
— Do you decide on the model yourself? Or say: “Now I need a big red car,” and Alexey selects a brand?
Lydia: I know what model I want, and I won’t agree to another. In the case of a car, not only attention is expensive, but also specific wishes...
— Alexey, you now have two premieres one after another. February 16 - a film about the Great Patriotic War, “Four Days in May,” in which you are both the producer and one of the main roles. And February 21 - “August. Eighth" - about the conflict in South Ossetia in 2008...
Alexey: Yes, and the director of the film “August. Eighth” Janik Fayziev told me before filming began that my hero Kazbek really existed. He is really always ready to lend a helping hand to the weak, especially if it is a woman who finds herself in difficult circumstances. It seems to me that this is a normal view of things for every man, not only for a military man.
I was impressed by the amount of work that went into the film, as well as the very solid sets. Huge machinery in the Mosfilm pavilion, where the interior of the Government House of South Ossetia was recreated: an office with a wall exploding in the frame, a corridor with a broken floor, a staircase collapsing under my character’s feet. And of course, large-scale location shooting in Abkhazia, where I was for the first time in my life. It left a heavy impression. I'm not talking about the people - they were cordial and welcoming to us. But the desolation of this beautiful land, abandoned houses overgrown with grass - it was hard to see.
— The events in South Ossetia are shown through the eyes of a young woman who rushed into the heat to save her child, and in the film “Four Days in May” the war is as seen by an embittered German teenager...
Lydia: Lesha, can I tell you how you chose this technique? “Four days in May” cost Guskov five years of his life. We were all worried about him, and, of course, from time to time Lesha showed us the footage. And so two people - a German and a Russian editor - made a version of the film. I watched both. Moreover, she specifically asked her husband not to say which option was prepared by who. And I chose the one where everything is shown through the eyes of a prickly, hateful child. This is how she influenced the fate of the film, which I am very proud of. It turned out strong, my children and I watched it with tears. I couldn’t speak for several minutes afterwards.
— Alexey, you filmed the story “Four Days in May” in Germany? How long did you live there?
Alexey: About six months.
— Did your family come to visit you?
Lydia: Where does the family have time for this? I work, and the children are busy. But Mitya and I visited Lesha in the summer of 2008 in France, when he was filming the French comedy “The Concert”. We lived for three weeks in the center of Paris. You go out in the morning to have breakfast in a cafe, and the coffee and croissants are so delicious, the orange juice is orange and the sun is yellow... And for some reason you are completely happy about this! It’s a pity that during all this time Lesha never had breakfast with us - he was either filming, rehearsing, or taking conducting lessons. After all, he played the conductor of the Bolshoi Theater and took the preparation very seriously. We tried not to disturb him, so we left. And only in the evenings, when he was free, we walked, went to restaurants...
Alexey: And it was not in vain that I tried and sacrificed breakfast in the cafe. The film became very popular in France and received the Italian national film award “David di Donatello”. The figurine now stands in my house, and I clink glasses with it. I hope that the Italian comedy in which I starred last summer will also be watched. The film, the title of which, when translated into Russian, sounds like “Until the Rooster Pecks,” should be released in the fall - in time for some big film festival.
— Who do you play in Italian cinema?
Alexey: A Russian cleaner at an Italian television studio. When in European films they offer to play a KGB officer or a mafioso (and this happens every now and then), I refuse right away. I say: “I have enough of these joys in Russia!” So in all European films I play Russians. Just Russians, without state or criminal fate. Who else can I play with my tongue?
Lydia: Stop it! Seven years ago he didn’t know one, but now he speaks three. I'm proud of him!
Alexey: Yes, what three! Don’t listen to her, I can barely speak French, I can understand Italian...
Lydia: What about English?
Alexey: Yes, we struggled with English, but we won.
- Wow! How did you manage to do this at an age far from school?
Alexey: It’s like Pushkin: “We all learned a little something and somehow.” After the 10th grade, I only remembered that “Landon from the Capital of Great Britain.” This was where my knowledge ended, because I didn’t need anything more. I am a former Soviet, not a new Russian. And when I started working as a producer, the need arose. In 2005, I had my first international project, we worked with the Austrians, and at least basic communication was necessary...
Lydia: And then Lesha began to be invited to play in Europe, and he had to understand what was being said at the negotiations. When he took a text in English, he wanted to feel it, and not just repeat combinations of sounds like a parrot. And as an actress, I envy him. True, Lesh, I couldn’t do that...
Alexey: You're still a lazy person!
Lydia: Lazy, yes. When Volodya started learning German at school, I decided: “Let me learn the language together with my son.” And it didn’t work out! I'm not diligent enough. If you need to sing a song in Italian or French for a role, for example, I simply learn the incomprehensible text by heart.
Alexey: But you know Chinese! This is a linguistic trump card!
Lydia: Yes, I forgot about it already, how many years have passed... (Lydia graduated from a boarding school with in-depth study of the Chinese language)
— Alexey, what method do you use to learn languages? After all, these are serious successes!
Alexey: My experience says that you need to jump into the language environment. This is the only way I mastered three languages in four years, because I had to play them. This is terrible stress for the body! You turn off everything - the TV, the radio - and always and everywhere you listen only to CDs with speech. And when, after two weeks, the incomprehensible stream of speech begins to break up into separate words, at that moment you can plunge into grammar. And then you need to learn basic phrases. Yes, it’s pointless to learn phrases and words. Now the Assimil method is popular all over the world - I recommend it to everyone. You order CDs via the Internet with lessons in French, Italian, English... They repeat phrases on certain topics. Both at home and in the car I listened to these discs endlessly.
Lydia: Yes, yes, we go and listen to lessons, lessons, lessons... Sometimes I so wanted to tell him: “Let’s listen to music at least a little,” but I was biting my tongue - I was silent, thinking: “No, let him teach.”
- Listen, endless work, study, children... And a dinner for two or, even better, a romantic trip - when was the last time this happened in your life?
Alexey: It’s difficult to find time for romantic dinners, but we always try to travel with children. I know exactly where I want to take Lida and the children next time. After filming Concert, I was terribly exhausted. I needed to take a breath, so I went to Tuscany, where agritourism is developed - for those who want to relax in the countryside. Through the Internet I found a tiny village with four houses. The houses are on a hill, and the views from it are so great! When I studied at the theater institute, I was perplexed: there are lazy people who know how to get comfortable! They defend their candidate's dissertations on the background of paintings by Titian or Raphael, and at the first opportunity they travel to Europe... So, I thought, they found themselves an easy job. And suddenly, being in Tuscany, I saw that the landscape at 11 o’clock in the morning was painted in one color, at two o’clock in the afternoon - in completely different ones, and at five o’clock - in yet another! Incredible beauty!
From that village it was 50 km to Florence, 70 km to San Dominiano, and 60 km to Pisa. You take a small car and, whenever you please, you go wherever you want. And you are not bound by any schedules... It was September, my sons had classes (they were both in school at the time), Lida’s theater season had begun, so I ended up there alone and spent only a week. Now the children have already grown up... Maybe we should go there not with them, but together with Lida?
