Story

The Ufa State University of Economics and Service was created in 1971, when, according to a resolution of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR and by order of the Ministry of Consumer Services of the Russian Population, the Ufa branch of the Moscow Technological Institute (UfMIT) was formed. This branch was created to meet the republic's need for consumer service specialists.

The institute was located in a 4-story building in Bakalinsky Lane (now Aknazarova Street). By order of the Ministry of Consumer Services of the Russian Federation, Grigory Fedorovich Ryabukha was appointed the first director. The branch employed 15 teachers, of which only 5 were associate professors. The training was carried out in three specialties: “Technology of garments”, “Machines and devices for textile, light industry and consumer services”, “Economics and organization of consumer service enterprises”. The first intake consisted of 150 people.

In 1994, the Ufa branch of the Moscow Technological Institute was transformed into the Ufa Technological Institute of Service (UTIS) as part of the State Academy of Consumer Affairs and Services (since 1999 - Moscow State University of Service, MGUS).
