General information

Buryat State University includes 6 educational institutions, 7 faculties and 78 departments. More than 10 thousand students, 393 graduate students and 16 doctoral students study at the university. Training is conducted in 120 areas and specialties, including 109 higher education programs vocational education and 11 secondary vocational education programs. Buryat State University is one of the oldest universities in Siberia, formed in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of September 30, 1995 and the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of November 2, 1995 on the basis of the Buryat State Pedagogical Institute (BSPI) named after Dorzhi Banzarov (founded in 1932 .) and a branch of Novosibirsk State University in Ulan-Ude.

The material base of the university is expanding. Past of BSU

The current university in Ulan-Ude was created in 1932. It was organized on the basis of the Buryat-Mongolian branch of the Irkutsk pedagogical university.
