Dita von Teese is just a stage name that Heather Reene Sweet took for herself in honor of the film star of the twenties, Dita Parlo. Back in the early nineties, Dita began to work on her image, which later became her calling card.

Her career as a strip club dancer began at age nineteen. She created numbers inspired by the style of the 40s. The audience was delighted. The image of a diva in the 1940s consisted of coiffed hair, elbow-length gloves, corsets and garters; all this charmed clients and brought unprecedented success to the aspiring stripper.

You can bet that little Heather (she's about 1.6m tall) will be right: so far she hasn't made any mistakes. Proof of this is her own style, elegantly provocative, successful all over the world. The only thing she lacks in life today is love. Which is not yet visible even on the horizon.

The basis of Dita von Teese's success is her image. She came up with it herself, and today she still dresses and puts on makeup on her own for the vast majority of filming and performances, without the help of costumers and makeup artists. “I dress and put on my makeup the same way I did in 1994, with only occasional help from friends. I love the ritual itself. I like to recreate my image every time. Taking care of it is the key to my success. To look luxurious, you don't need money or any special people. Every woman has her own chic.”

The work requires her to have an eternally young body and does not forgive any concessions. That's why Dita has been doing Pilates for the last 12 years, and recently started taking horse riding lessons. “At first glance these are completely different things, but in fact they have a common base. There is a danger that the image, which has not changed for almost 20 years, will sooner or later turn into a kind of cage for her. But Dita Von Teese doesn't think so. Her mother watched films of the forties as a child, the girl was fascinated by the beauty of the heroines, and she dreamed of becoming just as mysterious and unique. As a result of experiments, the world received Dita. “I’m naturally blonde, you know? I was born in a small town and had blond hair. My current beauty is artificially created, as opposed to my natural one. I'm interested in both types of beauty. But this is not a change of personality - this is the result of working on oneself.”

In everyday life, Dita von Teese is the most ordinary, as she herself claims. “My daily go-to is powder, red lipstick and mascara. The hair is gathered in a bun. That's all". At first it was difficult to explain to her parents what she was doing and why, “but now they fully support me.” Dita is very close to her two sisters and has five nephews. Several years ago she stated that children are not the main condition for female self-realization, but now her position has softened: “In fact, I always wanted to experience motherhood. I just haven’t had a relationship in my life yet in which I would think about children. But today - yes, I think about it.
