  • Prayer rule– 1) daily morning and evening rituals performed by Christians (recommended texts can be found in); 2) regulated reading of these prayers.

The rule can be general - mandatory for everyone, or individual, selected for a believer taking into account his spiritual state, strength and employment.

Consists of morning and evening prayers, which are performed daily. This vital rhythm is necessary, because otherwise the soul easily falls out of prayer life, as if waking up only from time to time. In prayer, as in any big and difficult matter, “inspiration”, “mood” and improvisation are not enough.

Reading prayers connects a person with their creators: the psalmists and ascetics. This helps to gain a spiritual mood akin to their heartfelt burning. Our example in praying in other people’s words is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. His prayerful exclamations during the suffering of the cross are lines from ().

There are three basic prayer rules:
    1) Complete prayer rule, which is printed in " ";

    2) A short prayer rule. The laity sometimes encounters situations when there is little time and energy left for prayer, and in this case it is better to read with attention and reverence short rule rather than hastily and superficially, without a prayerful attitude - the entire established rule. The Holy Fathers teach to treat your prayer rule with reason, on the one hand, not giving indulgence to your passions, laziness, self-pity, etc., which can destroy the correct spiritual structure, and on the other hand, learn to shorten or even slightly change the rule without temptation or embarrassment when there is a real need for it.

    in the morning : “Heavenly King”, Trisagion, “”, “Virgin Mother of God”, “Rising from sleep”, “God have mercy on me”, “”, “God, cleanse”, “To You, Master”, “Holy Angel”, “ Most Holy Lady,” invocation of saints, prayer for the living and the dead;
    In the evening : “Heavenly King”, Trisagion, “Our Father”, “Have mercy on us, Lord”, “Eternal God”, “Good King”, “Angel of Christ”, from “The Chosen Governor” to “It is worthy to eat”;

Morning and evening rules– this is just necessary spiritual hygiene. We are commanded to pray unceasingly (see). The Holy Fathers said: if you churn milk, you will get butter, and so in prayer, quantity turns into quality.

“For a rule to become not an obstacle, but a real driver of a person towards God, it is necessary that it be proportionate to his spiritual strength, correspond to his spiritual age and state of soul. Many people, not wanting to burden themselves, deliberately choose too easy prayer rules, which because of this become formal and do not bear fruit. But sometimes big rule, chosen out of unreasonable jealousy, also becomes a shackle, plunging into despondency and preventing spiritual growth.
A rule is not a frozen form; throughout life it must necessarily change both qualitatively and externally.”

Rising from sleep, before doing anything else, stand reverently, presenting yourself before the All-Seeing God, and, making the sign of the cross, say:

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Then wait a little until all your feelings come to silence and your thoughts leave everything earthly, and then say the following prayers, without haste and with heartfelt attention:

    Publican's Prayer
(Gospel of Luke, chapter 18, verse 13)

God, be merciful to me, a sinner. (Bow)

    Initial prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.
Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.

    Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Heavenly King, Comforter, Soul of truth, Who is everywhere and fulfills everything, Treasure of good things and Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save, O Good One, our souls.()

    Trisagion

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (Read three times, with the sign of the cross and bow from the waist.)

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer to the Most Holy Trinity

Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord, cleanse our sins; Master, forgive our iniquities; Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Thy name's sake.
Lord have mercy. (Three times). Glory, and now. (read in full “Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit”, “And now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.”)

    Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven! Hallowed be it your name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, as it is in heaven and on earth. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, just as we forgive our debtors; and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

    Troparia Trinity

Having risen from sleep, we fall down to Thee, the Good One, and cry out to Thee, the Mightier, the angelic song: Holy, Holy, Holy art thou, O God, have mercy on us through the Mother of God.
Glory: From bed and sleep You raised me up, O Lord, enlighten my mind and heart, and open my lips, to sing to You, Holy Trinity: Holy, Holy, Holy are you, O God, have mercy on us through the Mother of God.

And now: Suddenly the Judge will come, and every deed will be revealed, but with fear we call () at midnight: Holy, Holy, Holy art thou, O God, have mercy on us by the Mother of God.
    Lord have mercy. (12 times)

Prayer to the Most Holy Trinity

Having risen from sleep, I thank Thee, Holy Trinity, for for the sake of Thy goodness and long-suffering, Thou hast not been angry with me, lazy and sinful, nor hast Thou destroyed me with my iniquities; but you usually loved mankind and in the despair of the lying person you raised me up to practice and glorify Your power. And now enlighten my mental eyes, open my lips to learn Thy words, and to understand Thy commandments, and to do Thy will, and to sing to Thee in heartfelt confession, and to sing Thy all-holy name, of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages. centuries. Amen.
Come, let us worship our King God. (Bow)

Come, let us worship and fall down before Christ, our King God. (Bow) Come, let us bow and fall down to Christ Himself, the King and our God. (Bow)

    Psalm 50

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy, and according to the multitude of Your mercies, cleanse my iniquity. Above all, wash me from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin; for I know my iniquity, and I will take away my sin before me. I have sinned against You alone and have done evil before You, so that You may be justified in Your words and triumph over the judgment of You. Behold, I was conceived in iniquities, and my mother gave birth to me in sins. Behold, you have loved the truth; You have revealed to me the unknown and secret wisdom of Yours. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. My hearing brings joy and joy; humble bones will rejoice. Repel your face Cleanse me from my sins and all my iniquities. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb. Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit away from me. Reward me with the joy of Your salvation and strengthen me with the Lord’s Spirit. I will teach the wicked Your way, and the wicked will turn to You. Deliver me from bloodshed, O God, God of my salvation; My tongue will rejoice in Your righteousness. Lord, open my mouth, and my mouth will declare Your praise. As if you had desired sacrifices, you would have given them: you do not favor burnt offerings. The sacrifice to God is a broken spirit; God will not despise a broken and humble heart. Bless Zion, O Lord, with Your favor, and may the walls of Jerusalem be built. Then favor the sacrifice of righteousness, the offering and the burnt offering; Then they will place the bullock on Your altar.

    Symbol of faith

I believe in one God the Father, Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, visible to all and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only begotten, who was born of the Father before all ages; Light from Light, true God from true God, born, uncreated, consubstantial with the Father, to Whom all things were.
For our sake, man and our salvation came down from heaven and became incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became human.
She was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried.
And he rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures.
And ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father.
And again the coming one will be judged with glory by the living and the dead, His Kingdom will have no end.
And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Life-Giving One, who proceeds from the Father, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who spoke the prophets.
Into one Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the remission of sins.
I hope for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the next century. Amen.

First prayer of Saint Macarius the Great

God, cleanse me, a sinner, for I have done nothing good before You; but deliver me from the evil one, and may Thy will be done in me, may I open my unworthy lips without condemnation and praise Thy holy name, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages Amen.

Second prayer, of the same saint

Rising from sleep, I bring the midnight hymn to Ti, Savior, and falling down crying to Ti: do not let me fall asleep in a sinful death, but be gracious to me, crucified by will, and hasten me lying in laziness, and save me in standing and in prayer, and in sleep Rise up nightly for me a sinless day, O Christ God, and save me.

Prayer three, of the same saint

To You, Lord, Lover of Mankind, having risen from sleep, I come running, and I strive for Your works with Your mercy, and I pray to You: help me at all times, in every thing, and deliver me from all worldly evil things and the devil’s haste, and save me, and bring us into Your eternal Kingdom. For You are my Creator and the Provider and Giver of every good thing, in You are all my hope, and I send up glory to You, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer four, of the same saint

Lord, Who through Your many goodness and Your great bounty has given me, Your servant, the passing time of this night without misfortune to pass away from all evil that is contrary to me; You Yourself, Master, the Creator of all things, grant me with Your true light and an enlightened heart to do Your will, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Fifth prayer, Saint Basil the Great

Lord Almighty, God of hosts and all flesh, living in the highest and looking down on the humble, testing the hearts and wombs and innermost parts of men, the fore-foreseen One, the Beginningless and Ever-Everlasting Light, with Him there is no change or overshadowing; Himself, Immortal King, accept our prayers, even now, boldly for the multitude of Your bounties, from the bad lips we create towards You, and forgive us our sins, whether in deed, word, and thought, knowledge, or ignorance, we have sinned; and cleanse us from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit. And grant us with a cheerful heart and a sober thought to pass through the whole night of this present life, awaiting the coming of the bright and revealed day of Your Only Begotten Son, the Lord and God and our Savior Jesus Christ, in which the Judge of all will come with glory, to whom he will give to each according to his deeds; May we not fall and become lazy, but be watchful and raised up for the work that is to come, and prepare for the joy and Divine palace of His glory, where those who celebrate the unceasing voice and the ineffable sweetness of those who behold Your face, the ineffable kindness. For You are the true Light, you enlighten and sanctify all things, and all creation sings to You forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer six, of the same saint

We bless you, O highest God and Lord of mercy, who always does great and unexplored, glorious and terrible things to us, countless in number, giving us sleep for the repose of our weakness, and the weakening of the labors of the arduous flesh. We thank Thee, for Thou didst not destroy us with our iniquities, but Thou didst usually love mankind, and in desperation, Thou didst raise us up to glorify Thy power. In the same way, we pray for Your immeasurable goodness, enlighten our thoughts, our eyes, and raise our minds from the heavy sleep of laziness: open our lips, and fulfill Your praise, so that we can unwaveringly sing and confess to You, in all, and from all, to the glorified God, To the Beginningless Father, with Your Only Begotten Son, and Your All-Holy and Good and Life-Giving Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Seventh prayer to the Most Holy Theotokos

I sing Thy grace, O Lady, I pray to Thee, my mind is filled with grace. Go right and teach me the path of Christ’s commandments. Strengthen your children to songs, driving away despondency and sleep. Bound by the captivity of the Falls, allow me through Your prayers, Bride of God. Preserve me in the night and in the day, delivering me to those who fight against the enemy. She who gave birth to God, the life-giver, was killed by my passions and revived. Who gave birth to the non-evening Light, enlighten my blind soul. O wondrous Lady of the Palace, create for me the house of the Divine Spirit. You who gave birth to a doctor, heal my soul of many years of passion. Worried by the storm of life, guide me towards the path of repentance. Deliver me from eternal fire, and from evil worms, and from tartar. Do not show me joy as a demon, who is guilty of many sins. Create me again, having promised to be insensible, Immaculate, without sin. Show me the strangeness of all kinds of torment, and implore the Lord to all. Heavenly grant me joy with all the saints. Most Holy Virgin, hear the voice of Your indecent servant. Give me a stream of tears, Most Pure One, cleansing the filth of my soul. I bring lamentations from my heart to You continually, be zealous, Lady. Accept my prayer service and bring it to the blessed God. Transcending Angel, create me above the fusion of the world. Light-bearing heavenly Seine, direct spiritual grace in me. I lift up my hand and my lips to praise, defiled by filth, O All-Immaculate One. Deliver me from the dirty tricks that are strangling me, diligently begging Christ; To Him is due honor and worship, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer eight, to our Lord Jesus Christ

My most merciful and all-merciful God, Lord Jesus Christ, for the sake of love you came down and became incarnate for many reasons, so that you would save everyone. And again, Savior, save me by grace, I pray to You; Even if you save me from works, there is no grace and no gift, but more than debt. Hey, abundant in generosity and ineffable in mercy! Believe in Me, you say, O my Christ, you will live and will not see death forever. Even if faith in You saves the desperate, behold, I believe, save me, for You are my God and Creator. Let faith instead of works be imputed to me, O my God, for you will not find works to justify me. But may my faith prevail instead of all, may it answer, may it justify me, may it show me to be a partaker of Your eternal glory. Let Satan not kidnap me, and boast to the Word that he has torn me from Your hand and fence; But either I want, save me, or I don’t want, Christ my Savior, I will soon foresee, I will soon perish: For you are my God from my mother’s womb. Grant me, O Lord, now to love Thee, as sometimes I have loved that same sin; and again work for You without laziness, just as you worked before the flattering Satan. Most of all, I will serve You, my Lord and God Jesus Christ, all the days of my life, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Ninth prayer to the Guardian Angel

Holy Angel, standing before my accursed soul and my passionate life, do not leave me, a sinner, nor depart from me for my intemperance. Do not give room to the evil demon to possess me through the violence of this mortal body; strengthen my poor and thin hand and guide me on the path of salvation. To her, holy Angel of God, guardian and patron of my accursed soul and body, forgive me everything, I have offended you so greatly all the days of my life, and if I sinned this past night, cover me on this day, and save me from every opposite temptation May I not anger God in any sin, and pray for me to the Lord, that He may strengthen me in His passion, and show me worthy as a servant of His goodness. Amen.

Prayer tenth, to the Most Holy Theotokos

My Most Holy Lady Theotokos, with Your saints and all-powerful prayers, take away from me, Your humble and accursed servant, despondency, oblivion, foolishness, negligence, and all the nasty, evil and blasphemous thoughts from my accursed heart and from my darkened mind; and extinguish the flame of my passions, for I am poor and damned. And deliver me from many and cruel memories and enterprises, and free me from all evil actions. For Thou art blessed from all generations, and glorified is Thy most honorable name forever and ever. Amen.

Prayerful invocation of the saint whose name you bear

Pray to God for me, holy servant of God (name), as I diligently resort to you, a quick helper and prayer book for my soul.

Hymn to the Most Holy Theotokos

Rejoice, Virgin Mary, Blessed Mary, The Lord is with You; Blessed are You among women and blessed is the fruit of Your womb, for You have given birth to the Savior of our souls.

Troparion to the Cross and prayer for the fatherland

    Prayer for the living

Save, Lord, and have mercy on my spiritual father (name), my parents (names), relatives (names), bosses, mentors, benefactors (their names) and all Orthodox Christians.

    About the living

Remember, Lord Jesus Christ, our God, Thy mercy and generosity from all eternity, for whose sake Thou didst become man, and Thou didst deign to endure crucifixion and death, for the sake of the salvation of those who believe in Thee; and rose from the dead, you ascended into heaven and sit at the right hand of God the Father, and look upon the humble prayers of those who call upon You with all their hearts: incline Your ear, and hear the humble prayer of me, Your indecent servant, in the stench of the spiritual fragrance, brought to You for all Your people . And in the first place, remember Your Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, which You have provided with Your venerable Blood, and establish, and strengthen, and expand, multiply, pacify, and preserve the insurmountable gates of hell forever; Calm the tearing of the Churches, quench the pagan vacillations, and quickly destroy and eradicate the heresies of rebellion, and convert them into nothingness by the power of Your Holy Spirit. (Bow)

Save, Lord, and have mercy on our God-protected country, its authorities and army, protect their power with peace, and subdue every enemy and adversary under the nose of the Orthodox, and speak peaceful and good words in their hearts about Your Holy Church, and about all Your people: let us live a quiet and silent life in orthodoxy, and in all piety and purity. (Bow)

Save, O Lord, and have mercy on the Great Lord and Father of our Holiness Patriarch Alexy, Your Eminence metropolitans, archbishops and Orthodox bishops, priests and deacons, and the entire church clergy, who You have appointed to shepherd Your verbal flock, and with their prayers have mercy and save me, a sinner. (Bow)

Save, O Lord, and have mercy according to the multitude of Your bounties, all the sacred monks, monks and nuns, and all those living in virginity and reverence and fasting in monasteries, in deserts, in caves, mountains, pillars, gates, rock crevices, and sea islands, and in every place of Thy dominion those who live faithfully, and piously serve Thee, and pray to Thee: ease their burden, and comfort their sorrow, and grant them strength and strength to strive for Thee, and through their prayers grant me remission of sins. (Bow)

Save, O Lord, and have mercy on the old and the young, the poor and the orphans and the widows, and those who are in sickness and sorrow, troubles and sorrows, conditions and captivity, prisons and imprisonments, and even more so in persecution, for You for the sake of the Orthodox faith, from the tongue of the godless, from the apostate and from the heretics, Thy present servants, and remember, visit, strengthen, comfort, and soon by Thy power I will weaken, grant them freedom and deliver. (Bow)

Save, O Lord, and have mercy on those who do good to us, who are merciful and nourishing to us, who gave us alms, and who commanded us to the unworthy to pray for them, and who give us rest, and do Thy mercy to them, granting them all, even petitions for salvation, and the perception of eternal blessings . (Bow)

Save, Lord, and have mercy on those sent to the service, those traveling, our fathers and brethren, and all Orthodox Christians. (Bow)
Save, Lord, and have mercy on them who I tempted with my madness, and turned away from the path of salvation, and led me to evil and inappropriate deeds; By Your Divine Providence, return again to the path of salvation. (Bow)

Save, Lord, and have mercy on those who hate and offend me, and those who create misfortunes against me, and do not leave them to perish for my sake, a sinner. (Bow)

Remember, O Lord, and all in the hope of resurrection and eternal life, those who have fallen asleep, our fathers and brothers and sisters, and those who lie here and everywhere, Orthodox Christians, and with Thy saints, where the light of Thy face shines, and have mercy on us, for He is Good and Lover of Humanity. (Three times) Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Thy Most Pure Mother, our reverend and God-bearing fathers and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.

    Notes

    (1) From Easter to the Ascension, instead of this prayer, the troparion is read: “Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and giving life to those in the tombs.” (Three times) From Ascension to Trinity, we begin prayers with “Holy God...”, omitting all the preceding ones.

This remark also applies to future bedtime prayers.
    (2) In the Church Slavonic language there is no sound ё, and therefore it is necessary to read “we are calling”, not “we are calling”, “yours”, not “yours”, “mine”, not “mine”, etc.
    (3) From Easter to Ascension, instead of this prayer, the chorus and irmos of the 9th song of the Easter canon are read:

“The angel cried out with grace: Pure Virgin, rejoice! And again the river: Rejoice! Your Son is risen three days from the grave and raised up the dead; people, have fun!

Shine, shine, new Jerusalem, for the glory of the Lord is upon you. Rejoice now and be glad, O Zion. You, Pure One, show off, O Mother of God, about the rise of Your Nativity.”

This remark also applies to evening prayers.

On Easter week, instead of morning prayers, Easter hours are read.

    Preface

The prayer rule of a layman consists of morning and evening prayers, which are performed daily. This rhythm is necessary, because otherwise the soul easily falls out of the prayer life, as if waking up only from time to time. In prayer, as in any big and difficult matter, inspiration, mood and improvisation are not enough.

There is a complete prayer rule, designed for monks and spiritually experienced lay people, which is printed in Orthodox prayer book.

However, for those who are just beginning to get used to prayer, it is difficult to immediately begin to read the entire rule. Typically, confessors advise starting with several prayers, and then adding one prayer to the rule every 7-10 days, so that the skill of reading the rule is developed gradually and naturally.

In addition, the laity sometimes encounters situations when there is little time left for prayer, and in this case it is better to read the short rule with attention and reverence than to hastily and superficially, without a prayerful attitude, mechanically read complete rule.

Thus, by cultivating a reasonable attitude towards the prayer rule, Saint Theophan the Recluse writes to one family person:

“Bless, Lord, and continue prayer according to your rule. But never commit yourself to a rule and think that there is anything valuable in having such a rule or always following it. The whole price is in heartfelt surrender before God. The saints write that if someone does not leave prayer as a condemned man, worthy of all punishment from the Lord, then he leaves it as a Pharisee. Another said: “while standing in prayer, stand as if at the Last Judgment, when God’s decisive decision about you is ready to come: go away or come.”

Formality and mechanism in prayer must be avoided in every possible way. Let this always be a matter of a deliberate, free decision, and make it with consciousness and feeling, and not somehow. In case you need to be able to shorten the rule. You never know family life accidents?.. You can, for example, in the morning and evening, when there is no time, read only the morning prayers and those for bedtime as a memory. You can not even read them all, but several at a time. You can not read anything at all, but make a few bows, but with true heartfelt prayer. The rule must be handled with complete freedom. Be the mistress of the rule, not the slave. She is only a servant of God, obligated to devote all the minutes of her life to pleasing Him.”

For such cases there is an established short prayer rule, designed for all believers.

    In the morning it includes:

“To the Heavenly King”, Trisagion, “Our Father”, “Virgin Mother of God”, “Rising from sleep”, “Have mercy on me, O God”, “I Believe”, “God, cleanse”, “To You, Master”, “Holy Angel “,” “Holy Lady,” invocation of saints, prayer for the living and the dead.

    In the evening it includes:

“To the Heavenly King”, Trisagion, “Our Father”, “Have mercy on us, Lord”, “Eternal God”, “Good King”, “Angel of Christ”, from “The Chosen Governor” to “It is worthy to eat”.

    Morning prayers

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

    Initial prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.

    Trisagion

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us.
(Read three times, with the sign of the cross and bow from the waist.)

Amen.

    * From Easter to Ascension, instead of this prayer, the troparion is read:

“Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and giving life to those in the tombs.” (Three times) From Ascension to Trinity, we begin prayers with “Holy God...”, omitting all the preceding ones. This remark also applies to future bedtime prayers.

Throughout Bright Week, instead of this rule, the hours of Holy Easter are read.

** From Easter to Ascension, instead of this prayer, the chorus and irmos of the 9th song of the Easter canon are read:

“The angel cried out with grace: Pure Virgin, rejoice! And again the river: Rejoice! Your Son is risen three days from the grave and raised up the dead; people, have fun! Shine, shine, new Jerusalem, for the glory of the Lord is upon you. Rejoice now and be glad, O Zion. You, Pure One, show off, O Mother of God, about the rise of Your Nativity.”

These remarks also apply to future bedtime prayers.

How to learn home prayer. Moscow, “Ark”, 2004. Trifonov Pechenga Monastery

Numerous prayer texts are a way of communicating with the Lord. Many people prefer to pray in the morning after waking up to ask Higher powers blessings and help for the coming day. There are different morning prayers that help in different situations.

    Orthodoxy - morning prayers

The Church believes that a believer should start his day with sincere prayer, which helps to cope with difficulties and spend the day on a positive note. Short morning prayers give strength to overcome uncertainty about the coming day, lack of money, illness, fears and other problems. There are several recommendations on how to pray correctly in the morning to get help:

    1. The most important thing in life is unshakable faith, without which any prayers will be in vain. If a person does not believe that the spoken text will be heard, then there is no need to start.
    2. You should not turn to the Higher Powers over trifles, as this is a sign of disrespect.
    3. It is better not just to read existing sacred texts, but also to address the Lord and saints in your own words. The request must certainly contain the word “please”, which indicates sincerity.
    4. The best time for morning prayer is when a person has just woken up and is starting his day.
    5. It is recommended to have icons at home, or at least an image of Jesus Christ, which you need to look at while saying prayer words.
    6. Before reading your morning prayers, throw away all life's worries and thoughts. It is important to tune in and convince yourself that the Lord will hear the words spoken.
    7. Be sure to bow to the image and cross yourself three times before saying the text. It is necessary to complete the appeal to the Higher powers with the same actions.
    8. If it is difficult to learn the text by heart, you can read it, but first copy it onto a piece of paper in your own hand.
    9. Say your prayer thoughtfully, putting your faith and love into every word.

When the desired is achieved, be sure to turn to the saint with words of gratitude.

The prayer to the Holy Spirit is the stichera of the Feast of Pentecost. It is not read from Easter to Pentecost. According to the words of the Apostle Paul, we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings that cannot be expressed ()

King, Comforter, Soul(Spirit), To the Giver, the Good One(Blagoy) – forms of the vocative case.

Comforter– means called to help, Patron, Intercessor. Greek verb comfort also has meanings: to calm, to pacify, to console in sorrow, and convince, instruct to a virtuous life.

See John 15:26: When the Comforter comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me..

Sit everywhere and do everything- abiding everywhere, like God, and filling everything (the whole world, all existence).

Life Giver– lit. meaning in Greek words horygos(giver) – the one who at your own expense supplied (in Athens) a choir for festivities (which was one of the most expensive public duties, and therefore was charged only to the richest citizens of the city). Later this word came to mean generally assistant, one who delivers something or supplies something: food, life supplies, taking to myself all expenses. Compare in the New Testament (words with this root are underlined): Giving But seed to the sower and bread for food will provide abundance for what you sow and will multiply the fruits of your righteousness (); If anyone speaks, speak as the words of God; If anyone serves, let him serve according to the strength that God gives, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. ().

    In us- in us.

Better– The Holy Spirit is called good as one of the persons of the Holy Trinity, for no one is good, as soon as there is only one God ().

    Trisagion

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (Read three times, with the sign of the cross and bow from the waist.)

In 438 there was an earthquake in Constantinople. During the penitential prayer service, the sky opened to one praying boy, and he heard the angels singing the Trisagion hymn. The people began to repeat these words, adding Have mercy on us!, and the earthquake stopped.

    Strong— All Might

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Now and ever and unto ages of ages- now, and always, and to endless ages. Now and forever belong to our world, and forever and ever- to eternity.

Prayer to the Most Holy Trinity

Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord, cleanse our sins; Master, forgive our iniquities; Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Thy name's sake.

Visit and heal our infirmities- come (to us) and heal our spiritual infirmities, impotence, weakness.

Three times - according to the number of Persons of the Holy Trinity.

    Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven! Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, as it is in heaven and on earth. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, just as we forgive our debtors; and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

The Lord Jesus Christ Himself commanded His disciples and all Christians to pray with this prayer (see;)

Hallowed be your name- let him become famous. Commentary by St. : "Saying Hallowed be thy name, we do not bring to God holiness that supposedly does not exist with Him, but we glorify what exists.”

Urgent– lit. from Greek - necessary for existence. St. In addition to ordinary bread, the fathers understood by daily bread the Holy Gifts given to those receiving communion.

Don't lead us into temptation- Do not allow us to fall into temptation. Wed. James 1:14: When tempted, no one should say: God is tempting me; because God is not tempted by evil and does not tempt anyone Himself, but everyone is tempted by being carried away and deceived by his own lust; 2 Peter 2:9: The Lord knows how to deliver the pious from temptation; 1 Corinthians 10:13: God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but when you are tempted, He will also provide relief, so that you can endure it; Matthew 26:41: Watch and pray, so that you do not fall into temptation: the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

    Troparia Trinity

Rising from sleep, we fall down to Thee, the Blesser, and cry out the angelic song to Thee, the Stronger: Holy, Holy, Holy art thou, O God, through the Mother of God have mercy on us.

Troparia Trinity- troparia addressed to the Most Holy Trinity.

Let's fall down- we fall to You (literally at Your feet).

We cry out the angel's song- we sing the song with which the Angels glorify God. The prophet Isaiah tells of the Seraphim standing around the Throne of the Lord and calling to each other: Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts! the whole earth is full of His glory! (). (Lord of Hosts– Lord of Heavenly (Angelic) forces, armies).

Mother of God- according to the prayers of the Mother of God.

Glory: From bed and sleep you raised me up, Lord, enlighten my mind and heart, and open my lips, even singing to You, Holy Trinity: Holy, Holy, Holy are you, God, have mercy on us through the Mother of God.

You raised me up- lifted me up.

Sing to thee- to sing Your praises.

And now: Suddenly the Judge will come, and every deed will be exposed, but with fear we call at midnight: Holy, Holy, Holy are you, God, have mercy on us through the Mother of God.

Suddenly the Judge will come– the Lord will suddenly come to judge each of us (our death), and all of humanity (the Last Judgment). See etc.

Every deed will be exposed- the affairs of each (person) will be opened (See).

But we call with fear at midnight- but with fear, in fear we call in the sinful night.

Midnight is the time for midnight prayers. In addition, midnight is used here, perhaps, as an image of the suddenness of the coming of the Judge (see the parable of the 10 virgins (), where the groom also comes at midnight, as well).

Lord have mercy (12 times) .

Prayer to the Most Holy Trinity

Having risen from sleep, I thank Thee, Holy Trinity, for for the sake of Thy goodness and long-suffering you were not angry with me, lazy and sinful, and you destroyed me with my iniquities. mi; but you loved mankind as a rule, and in the despair of a man who lay, you raised me up to exercise and glorify your power. And now enlighten my mental eyes, open my mouth, to learn Your words, and to understand Your commandments, and to do Your will, and to sing to You in confession of my heart, and to sing praises Thy all-holy name, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages centuries. Amen.

Like many for the sake of Your goodness- for according to Your great mercy, because You are good (cf.).

Wed. -7: Come, let us worship and fall down before Him, and weep before the Lord who created us: for He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand(obedient to His hand).

Let's fall down– lit. Let's fall at our feet.

    Psalm 50

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy, and according to the multitude of Your compassions, cleanse my iniquity. Above all, wash me from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin; For I know my iniquity, and I will take away my sin before me. I have sinned against You alone and have done evil before You, so that You may be justified in Your words and triumph over Your judgment. Behold, I was conceived in iniquity, and my mother gave birth to me in sins. Behold, you have loved the truth; You have shown me Your unknown and secret wisdom. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be clean; Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. There is joy and gladness in my hearing; the bones of the humble will rejoice. Turn away Your face from my sins and cleanse all my iniquities. Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb. Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Give me the joy of Your salvation and strengthen me with the Lord’s Spirit. I will teach the wicked your way, and wickedness will turn to you. Deliver me from bloodshed, O God, God of my salvation; my tongue will rejoice in Your righteousness. Lord, open my mouth, and my mouth will declare Your praise. As if you had desired sacrifices, you would have given them: you do not favor burnt offerings. The sacrifice to God is a broken spirit; God will not despise a contrite and humble heart. Bless Zion, O Lord, with Your favor, and may the walls of Jerusalem be built. Then take pleasure in the sacrifice of righteousness, the offering and the burnt offering; then they will place your calf on the altar.

The 50th Psalm is a repentant prayer of King David, written after the prophet Nathan came to him and convicted him of the crimes he had committed: the death of the warrior Uri in battle that he had arranged and adultery with his wife Bathsheba.

In terms of the depth of repentance and the strength of the humility expressed in it, the 50th Psalm perhaps surpasses all the others. It is included in Small Compline, Midnight Office, Third Hour, morning prayers, following to Holy Communion, etc.

By great mercy– by infinite mercy, because and my sins are limitless.

Most of all- especially, predominantly, repeatedly.

I'll take it out- always, constantly.

To you alone- To you alone, precisely to you.

For you may be justified in Your words- so that You will be righteous in Your judgment.

Win and never judge- you will win when You judge me (you will win in court over me).

Xie bo- for here (introductory words, usually not translated).

In lawlessness- according to the patristic interpretation under lawlessness Here we mean the corruptible (i.e., subject to death) nature inherited from our ancestors, which is associated with many sins and iniquities. The same thing is said further.

Born in sins- She gave birth in sins. Rody– lit. passionately desired(both in the Hebrew original and in the Greek translation).

You loved the truth- (You) love the truth.

You have shown me Your unknown and secret wisdom- You reveal to me the inexpressible secrets of Your Providence.

Sprinkle me with hyssop- Sprinkle me with hyssop. Hyssop- fragrant subshrub with pink, white or blue flowers. Its twigs, tied into a bundle, were used for sprinkling. They sprinkled them on lepers to cleanse their illness. David talks about sprinkling his soul.

To my hearing dasi– lit. make me hear, cry out in me (the joy of my pardon).

Humble bones will rejoice– here: may the broken bones be strengthened again, i.e. the soul is dejected, depressed (by suffering).

Create a pure heart- cleanse my heart, restore my (fallen) soul to its original beauty.

The spirit is right- the spirit is correct, fair, truthful, faithful. Wed. And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit in them. ().

Renew in my womb– renew inside me, inside me.

Reward- give it back, give it back.

Sovereign- ruling, capable of leading me, leading me.

From blood- perhaps we are talking about the shed blood of Uriah, as well as about God’s punishment according to the Old Testament law for unrighteously shed blood. This is what God says to Noah: Whoever sheds the blood of man, his blood will be shed by the hand of man: for man was created in the image of God.

God of my salvation- God, my Savior.

My tongue will rejoice in Your righteousness- May my tongue tell in joy about Your truth and mercy.

Lord, open my mouth, and my mouth will declare Your praise- Lord, open my mouth, and my lips will glorify You.

As if you had wanted sacrifices, you would have given- if You were pleased with the sacrifices (dumb animals) which the law commanded to offer), then I, of course, would bring them (to You).

You do not favor burnt offerings- (but You) do not accept such sacrifices, or they have become no longer so pleasing to You (although burnt offerings) were considered higher than other sacrifices.

God will not despise a contrite and humble heart– God does not turn away from a contrite and humble soul.

Bless Zion, O Lord, with Your favor- Lord, do good to Zion according to Your good pleasure. Here David, prophesying, asks for the restoration of Jerusalem after the Babylonian captivity.

May the walls of Jerusalem be built- let the walls of Jerusalem, destroyed by the Babylonians, be built.

Then be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness, the offering and the burnt offering- then you will accept the correct sacrifice, which the Jews could only offer in the Jerusalem Temple. Ascension- part of an animal to be sacrificed, burnt offering- whole body.

Then they will place the calf on Your altar- Then the Jews will offer a burnt offering. In the Old Testament temple there were two altars: for sacrifices (altar) and the incense altar (). This refers to the altar.

According to the interpretation of St. fathers, the last lines of the psalm are a prophecy about the Sacrifice of Christ, Christian Church and the Eucharist.

    Symbol of faith

I believe in one God, the Father, Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, visible to all and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only begotten, who was born of the Father before all ages; Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, uncreated, consubstantial with the Father, to whom all things were.

For our sake, man and for our salvation, who came down from heaven and became incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became human.

Crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried.

And he rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures.

And ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father.

And again the glory of the future will be judged by the living and the dead, His Kingdom will have no end.

And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Life-Giving One, who proceeds from the Father, who is with the Father and the Son, we are worshiped and glorified, who spoke the prophets.

Into one Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.

I confess one baptism for the remission of sins.

I hope for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the next century. Amen.

The Creed is a summary of the main tenets of the Orthodox faith. Adopted at the Council of Nicaea in 325 (Part I) and supplemented at the Council of Constantinople (Constantinople) in 381. It has a protective function in protecting against heretical teachings.

For our sake man- for the sake of us, people, for the salvation of everyone in general and each individual.

Descended from heaven- see John 3:13: No one has ascended into heaven except the Son of Man, who is in heaven, who came down from heaven.; John 6:38: For I came down from heaven not to do My will, but the will of the Father who sent Me.

    First prayer, Saint

God, cleanse me, a sinner, for I have done no more good before You; but deliver me from the evil one, and let Your will be done in me, that I may open my unworthy mouth without condemnation and praise Your holy name, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. in Amen.

For I have done no more good things before You- for I have never done anything good, good before You.

From the evil one- from the devil, from all evil.

May Your will be done in me- see the prayer “Our Father” ().

May I open my unworthy lips without condemnation- may I open my unworthy lips (to praise You) without being condemned for this (for: Not everyone who says to Me: “Lord! Lord!” will enter the Kingdom of Heaven ().

Second prayer, of the same saint

Having risen from sleep, I bring the midnight hymn to Ti, Savior, and falling down crying to Ti: do not let me fall asleep in a sinful death, but have mercy on me, crucify yourself with your will, and hastening to raise me who lies in laziness, and save me in standing and prayer and in sleep By night shine upon me a sinless day, O Christ God, and save me.

Midnight Song- Wed Ps.119:62: At midnight I rose to praise You for Your righteous judgments. Or an excerpt from the parable of the 10 virgins (): At midnight a cry was heard: behold, the groom is coming, go out to meet him.

Falling down crying- falling (literally at Your feet), I exclaim.

Don't let me sleep in sinful death- night is an image of sinful death (the darkness of the night is the darkness of death, sin). The middle of the night (midnight is its darkest hour) symbolizes the density of sinful darkness. Since awakening from sleep is an image of rising from bodily death, we ask the Lord for rising from sinful death.

But be kind to me- but have mercy on me (have mercy on me).

Crucified by will- (You) accepted the crucifixion according to Your will.

In laziness— in carelessness (about one’s salvation).

Quickly raise- hasten to raise, restore.

In a dream at night– after a night’s sleep (extension: after sinful darkness).

Rise upon me a sinless day- send down on me a bright, sinless day (extensively; sinless life).

Prayer three, of the same saint

To You, Lord, the Lover of Mankind, I come running from sleep, and I strive for Your works with Your mercy, and I pray to You: help me at all times, in all things, and deliver me from all worldly evils things and the devil's haste, and save me and bring me to Your eternal Kingdom. For You are my Creator and the Provider and Giver of all good, in You is all my hope, and I send glory to You, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

I'm running- I hasten to turn (with prayer).

I strive for Thy works by Thy mercy- in the hope of Your merciful help, I rush, I hasten to accomplish deeds in Your name, deeds pleasing to You. Wed. John 15:5: Without Me you cannot do anything.

    Help me- help me.

For every time, in every thing- always and in everything.

From all worldly evil things- from all evil of this world; at all worldly everything related to the passions of this world is named. Wed. -13: The grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people, teaching us that, having rejected ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live chastely, righteously and piously in this present age, awaiting the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. -17: Do not love the world, nor the things in the world: whoever loves the world does not have the Father’s love in him. For everything that is in the world: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not from the Father, but from this world. And the world passes away, and its lusts, but he who does the will of God abides forever.

Diabolical haste- church glory word haste actually means action, V in this case– the persistent desire of the devil to act on us through our passions (through worldly things). Wed. Rom.7:5: When we lived in the flesh, then the sinful passions, revealed by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit in death.. Wed. also from the fifth prayer of St. to Holy Communion: And let this saint be with me... to drive away... the actions of the devil, acting mentally in my lands(i.e. through thoughts inspiring to incline towards evil).

You are my Creator- for You are my Creator.

Provider and Giver– The All-Wise Trustee and Source (of all good).

    About you- at you.

Prayer four, of the same saint

Lord, by Your many goodness and Your great bounties You have given me, Your servant, the passing time of this night to pass without misfortune from all evil that is contrary to me; You Yourself, Master of all Creators, grant me with Your true light and an enlightened heart to do Your will, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Lord, Who is Your many goodness- Lord, You, according to Your great goodness.

    Passed by– past.

To pass away from all evil without adversity is disgusting- to carry out without temptation from any evil opposing (me).

All kinds of creativity– Creator (Creator) of everything.

Grant me Thy true light and an enlightened heart to do Thy will.- grant me illumination (illuminate, enlighten me) with Your true light (cf. John 1:9: There was the true Light, which enlightens every person who comes into the world) and enlighten my heart with Thy light (honour enlightenment), so that I may do Thy will.

    Fifth prayer, Saint

Lord Almighty, God of hosts and all flesh, living in the highest and looking down on the humble, searching the hearts and wombs and innermost parts of men, the forerunner, the Beginningless and Ever-Everlasting Light, with Him - there is no change, or change, overshadowing; Himself, Immortal King, accept our prayers, even at this time, for the multitude of Your generosity boldly, from the profane we create to You, and forgive us our sins, even in deed, and in word, and in thought, in knowledge, or in ignorance, we have sinned; and cleanse us from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit. And grant us with a cheerful heart and a sober mind to pass through the night of this present life, awaiting the coming of the bright and revealed day of Your Only Begotten Son, Lord and God and our Savior Jesus The Lord of Christ, in the same place the Judge of all will come with glory, to whom he will give according to his deeds; let us not fall and become lazy, but be alert and raised up for the work of what is to come, prepare for joy and the Divine palace of His glory in the depths, where those who celebrate the unceasing voice, and unspeakable sweetness in vain those who show Your face unspeakable kindness. For You are the true Light, you enlighten and sanctify all things, and all creation sings to You forever and ever. Amen.

God of hosts and all flesh– God of the Ethereal Heavenly forces and everything endowed with flesh of creation.

Living on high and looking upon the humble- abiding (in His fullness) in the Upper (Heavenly) world and graciously looking at (everything) earthly, above.

Thou who foreknowest testeth the hearts and wombs and the innermost parts of men- one who observes (penetrates) hearts and innermost thoughts and sees (knows in advance) human secrets.

Beginningless- having no beginning to its existence.

    Ever-present– Eternal (always Existing).

With Him there is no change, or change, overshadowing– (Light), Which has no change in strength (as opposed to visible light) and Which leaves no shadowed place on Its path (illuminating, illuminating everything). Wed. James 1:17: Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights.(i.e. the luminary), with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. According to church glory: Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights;. Wed. also 1 John 1:5: God is light and in Him there is no darkness.

    Even– which (i.e. our prayers).

I am bold in Your multitude of bounties- hoping for Your much compassion and mercy.

From the bad we create our lips to You- (which, i.e. prayers) we lift up to You with (our) unclean lips.

    Leave it- sorry.

    Maintaining- consciously.

With a cheerful heart– lit. with an awake heart, i.e. those who keep the commandments of the Lord, awaiting the visit of God. Wed. Rev.3:20: Behold, I'm standing at the door(i.e. at the door of the heart) and I knock: if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me., and also Mark 13:37: What do you need(to the apostles) I say, I say to everyone: stay awake.

With a sober mind– a sober thought, capable of resisting all devilish flattery (i.e. deception) and delusion.

All the night of this present life will pass away- spend (go through) the entire (sinful) night of this (earthly) life.

On the revealed day– glorious day (i.e. the time of the Second Coming); day is the opposite of the night of this earthly life, just as light is the opposite of darkness.

In onzhe - on which (day).

    To everyone- to each.

Let us not fall and become lazy, but be watchful and raised up for the work of what is to come, so that the Divine palace of His glory will come to us for joy and joy.– in the original Greek prayer: . ..into the work that will be found, and prepare for joy... In this case, the translation of the indicated fragment is as follows: may we be found (by the Lord) not lying down and sleepy, but awake, and (lit. raised in doing His commandments) diligently fulfilling His commandments, and ready (prepared) to enter with Him into joy and the divine palace His glory. Wed. Matthew 24:42: Watch, because you do not know at what hour your Lord will come. -12: The hour has already come for us to wake up from sleep. For salvation is closer to us now than when we believed. The night is past, and the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness and put on the weapons of light. Eph.5:14: Arise, O sleeper, and rise from the dead, and Christ will illuminate you. Wed. also the troparion of the 8th tone from the Midnight Office (in addition, it is sung at Matins in the first three days of Holy Week): Behold, the Bridegroom comes at midnight, and blessed is the servant, whom the vigilant will find, but unworthy again, the one who is discouraged will find him...

Ideas for those celebrating- where are the triumphants?

The indescribable sweetness of those who behold Your face, the ineffable kindness- the inexpressible, unspeakable joy of those who see the indescribable beauty of Your face.

For you are the true Light, enlighten and sanctify all- for You are the true Light, enlightening and sanctifying the whole world; Wed John 1:9: There was the true light, which enlightens every person who comes into the world.

Prayer six, of the same saint

We bless you, O highest God and Lord of mercy, who always does with us great and unexplored, glorious and terrible, the number of which is innumerable, giving us sleep for the repose of our weakness, and weakening of labor in laborious flesh. We thank Thee, for Thou didst not destroy us with our iniquities, but Thou didst love mankind as usual, and in desperation, Thou didst raise us up to glorify Thy power. Moreover, we pray for Your immeasurable goodness, enlighten our thoughts, clear our minds, and lift our minds from the heavy sleep of laziness: open our lips, and let me fulfill Your praise, so that we can unshakably sing and confess to You, in all, and from all to the glorified God, the Beginningless Father, with Your Only Begotten Son, and Your All-Holy and Good and Life-Giving Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Let's bless- we send praise, glorify.

    Vyshny- above all else.

Great and unexplored, glorious and terrible, of which there is no number- great and incomprehensible, glorious and amazing (awe, fear) deeds that are countless.

For the repose of our weakness– for the rest necessary due to our bodily infirmity.

Weakening the labors of the arduous flesh– (and for) relaxation, relief from the labors (i.e. suffering, illness) of the long-suffering, much-painful flesh.

But you usually loved mankind- but showed your usual (Your) love for mankind.

In despair you raised us lying- in a dream, as if in an unconscious state, he raised those lying down and woke us up.

Let us glorify Your power- so that we glorify Your sovereignty (strength, might).

    Same- That's why.

Ochesa- eyes. The Lord speaks about the purity of our eyes: The lamp for the body is the eye. So, if your eye is clean, then your whole body will be bright; if your eye is bad, then your whole body will be dark ().

Raise our minds from the heavy sleep of laziness– restore (return to its original state) our mind, which is in the sleep of sinful worldly thoughts, lazy to ascend to God and drive away evil thoughts.

May I fulfill Your praise- fill them with praises offered to You. Wed. with the fact that on behalf of all believers at Communion the choir sings (when transferring the Holy Gifts from the throne to the altar): Let our lips be filled with Thy praise, O Lord, as we sing Thy glory...

Let us unwaveringly sing and confess to You- may we, with unshakable (nothing, no temptations) faith, bring You songs of praise and confess You (our God).

In everyone and from everyone- in all creation and by all creatures (glorified).

Seventh prayer to the Most Holy Theotokos

Prayer eight, to our Lord Jesus Christ

My most merciful and all-merciful God, Lord Jesus Christ, for the sake of love you came down and became incarnate, so that you might save everyone. And again, Savior, save me by grace, I pray to You; Even if you save me from works, there is no grace and no gift, but more than debt. Hey, abundant in generosity and unspeakable in mercy! Believe in Me, O Christ, you will live and not see death forever. Even if faith, even in You, saves the desperate, behold, I believe, save me, for You are my God and Creator. Let faith instead of works be imputed to me, O my God, for you will not find works to justify me. But may my faith prevail instead of all, may it answer, may it justify me, may it show me to be a partaker of Your eternal glory. May Satan not snatch me away and boast, O Word, that he has torn me away from Your hand and fence; but either I want to save me, or I don’t want to, O Christ my Savior, foretell that I will soon perish: For you are my God from my mother’s womb. Grant me, Lord, now to love Thee, as I sometimes loved that very sin; and to work again for you without laziness is as boring as you worked before to the flattering Satan. Most of all, I will serve You, my Lord and God Jesus Christ, all the days of my life, now and forever and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Most merciful and all-merciful- (You), filled with much and perfect mercy.

Ninth prayer to the Guardian Angel

Holy Angel, standing before my damned soul and my passionate life, do not forsake me, a sinner, and depart from me for my intemperance. Do not give room to the crafty demon to possess me with the violence of this mortal body; strengthen my poor and thin hand and guide me on the path of salvation. To her, holy Angel of God, guardian and patron of my accursed soul and body, forgive me everything that I have offended you with in so many ways all the days of my life, and if I sinned in this past night, cover me on this day , and keep me from every temptation of the enemy May I not anger God in any sin, and pray for me to the Lord, that He may strengthen me in His passion, and show me worthy as a servant of His goodness. Amen.

Ahead of my damned soul and my passionate life- placed as a guard, protecting my poor, pitiful, struggle-filled soul and my unhappy (subject to disasters and passions) life.

Below, step away from me- and don’t retreat, don’t move away (don’t move away, don’t give up) from me.

Do not give room to the crafty demon to possess me, with the violence of this mortal body– do not give the opportunity (do not allow) the evil and insidious demon to take possession of me (subdue me) through oppression, enslavement of my mortal body (through my bodily passions).

And deliver me from many and cruel memories and enterprises, and free me from all evil actions. For Thou art blessed from all generations, and glorified is Thy most honorable name forever and ever. Prayer for the living

Save, Lord, and have mercy on my spiritual father (name), my parents (names), relatives (names), leaders, mentors, benefactors (their names) and all Orthodox Christians.

    Prayer for the departed

Rest in peace, Lord, the souls of your departed servants: my parents, relatives, benefactors (their names), and all Orthodox Christians, and forgive them all sins, voluntary and involuntary, and grant them the Kingdom of Heaven.

About the departed- about the dead (about the deceased). The dead are called “dead” because they will one day rise from their graves (as if from sleep) and be resurrected.

If you can, read this memorial instead of short prayers for the living and the dead:

(Bow)

Save, Lord, and have mercy on our Great Lord and Father, His Holiness the Patriarch (Name), Your Eminence metropolitans, archbishops and Orthodox bishops, priests and deacons, and the entire church clergy, who have appointed You to shepherd Your verbal flock, and through their prayers have mercy and save me, a sinner. (Bow)

Save, Lord, and have mercy on my spiritual father (his name), and with his holy prayers forgive my sins. (Bow)

Save, O Lord, and have mercy on my parents (their names), brothers and sisters, and my relatives according to the flesh, and all the neighbors of my family, and others, and grant them Your peaceful and most peaceful goodness.

(Bow)

Those who have departed from the Orthodox faith and are blinded by destructive heresies, enlighten with the light of Your knowledge and bring Your Holy Apostles to the Catholic Church. (Bow)

    About the departed

Remember, Lord, the most holy patriarchs, eminence metropolitans, archbishops and Orthodox bishops who departed from this life, who served You in the priesthood and in the clergy, and in the monastic rank, and rest in Your eternal settlements with the saints. (Bow.)

Remember, Lord, the souls of Your departed servants, my parents (their names), and all relatives in the flesh; and forgive them all their sins, voluntary and involuntary, giving them the Kingdom and the communion of Thy eternal good things and Thy endless and blissful life of pleasure.

Amen. (Bow)

Grant, Lord, remission of sins to all who have previously departed in the faith and hope of resurrection, our fathers, brothers and sisters, and create for them eternal memory. (Thrice)

    End of prayers

It is worthy to eat as you truly bless Theotokos, Ever-Blessed and Most Immaculate and Mother of our God. We magnify Thee, the most honorable Cherub and the most glorious without comparison, the Seraphim, who gave birth to God the Word without corruption.

The author of the song “More Honest Cherub...” is considered to be St. Cosmas, Bishop of Maium, creator of the canons (†787). And the first part - “It is worthy to eat...” - according to legend, was sung before the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos by an Angel who appeared in the 10th century to a monk on Athos.

It is worthy to eat as one truly bless Thee Theotokos- It is truly fair to glorify You, Mother of God.

Ever Blessed and Most Immaculate- always blessed, always glorified and supremely, completely immaculate.

Most honorable Cherub- awarded greater honor than the Cherubim (Angels closest to God after the Seraphim).

The most glorious without comparison, Seraphim- incomparably most glorious, more famous than the Seraphim (Angels who are closest to God, the highest of the nine ranks of the Heavenly powers, the ranks of Angels).

    Without decay- painless, undamaged.

Real Mother of God- the true Mother of God.

Glory, and now: Lord, have mercy. (Thrice)

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother, our reverend and God-bearing fathers and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.

    For prayers- by prayers.

    Notes

    (1) Printed in italics (explanations and names of prayers) are not read during prayer.

    (2) From Easter to Ascension, instead of this prayer, the troparion is read: “Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and giving life to those in the tombs.” (Three times) From Ascension to Trinity, we begin prayers with “Holy God...”, omitting all the preceding ones.

This remark also applies to future bedtime prayers.

    (3) When it is written “Glory”, “And now”, it must be read in full: “Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit”, “And now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen"

    (4) In the Church Slavonic language there is no sound е, and therefore it is necessary to read “we are calling”, not “we are calling”, “yours”, not “yours”, “mine”, not “mine”, etc.

    (5) From Easter to Ascension, instead of this prayer, the chorus and irmos of the 9th song of the Easter canon are read:

“The angel cried out with grace: Pure Virgin, rejoice! And again the river: Rejoice! Your Son is risen three days from the grave and raised up the dead; people, have fun!

Shine, shine, new Jerusalem, for the glory of the Lord is upon you. Rejoice now and be glad, O Zion. You, Pure One, show off, O Mother of God, about the rise of Your Nativity.”

This remark also applies to evening prayers.
