If you are a fan of the GTA 5 game, then one of the above computer games may well captivate you.

GTA 5 was released today, so we suggest recalling the best games made in a similar style. The franchise has spawned many projects that in one way or another reflect the features of this iconic series.

Send

GTA came out today 5. The fifth title promises to set new standards for open-world action games, and there is no doubt that Rockstar was able to do this. We, like most console owners, have already started playing, so expect a big review of Grand Theft Auto 5. In the meantime, we suggest recalling the best games made in the style of the franchise. The series has spawned many projects in which one way or another the features of this iconic series can be discerned.

Saints Row 4 will surpass any trash movie or game in its recklessness. This is an example of how to make the most frivolous action possible, while competently parodying the main clichés and well-known franchises. As the President of the United States, you need to fight off aliens and do a lot of things that are difficult to describe.

Saints Row - GTA, whose brakes completely failed. There is simply no other such frivolous game; the developers are ahead of the rest in this sense. SR is fun to play through, but like any parody, it's a dud inside. If you want a more or less normal plot or adequacy, the game cannot offer anything. Volition excel at silliness and parody, but going through Saints Row is like watching American Pie. Sometimes, of course, it’s funny, but this humor is second-rate, too obvious and without sophistication.

The cooperative, which, in theory, was supposed to double the degree of madness, turned out to be frankly weak. The characters hardly interact, the cutscenes are identical for both single and joint playthroughs. It's not good to do this, Volition.

However, as a fun game, Saints Row 4 is perfect.

The action was one of the biggest surprises of last year. Nobody expected much from the continuation of the lousy True Crime series, but a high-quality action movie came out. The game was created for the Western world, so you won't see any Asian features here. In general, Sleeping Dogs is the most GTA there is, only with some important differences.

Firstly, you play as a police officer, albeit undercover. Secondly, there is left-hand traffic here, and it takes some time to get used to it. Thirdly, there is a lot of waving with arms and legs, but not enough shooting. Actually, in other respects this is absolutely the same GTA with similar plot moves, story development and climbing the criminal ladder of Hong Kong.

The fights turned out really great. The developers made the right decision by using the Batman: Arkham Asulym combat system as a basis - it is used in every first action game with massacres. In addition to realistic fights with a juicy crunch of bones, I remember the excellent finishing moves, which are very similar to fatalities from The Punisher. The hero slams his opponents' heads into the blades of air conditioners, throws enemies into ovens, and throws them onto high-voltage electrical panels - such cruelty came in handy for an action movie about wayward eastern mafiosi.

The Driver series is inconsistent. After the disgusting Driv3r came the worthy Parallel Lines, which takes place in two time periods. We spend the first half driving around the sunny New York of 1978, and then we are transported to the gloomy 2006. The main character was framed, and he was put behind bars for 28 years. Move with different eras interesting in itself, but the atmosphere of our days was much inferior to the Big Apple of the seventies.

As usual, Driver focuses heavily on cars and chases. Most of the tasks are related to transport in one way or another - fans of shooting races across the city will certainly be pleased. It is curious that after five years of silence the series changed its concept. In Driver: San Francisco you can’t leave your car, but you can and should “move” from one car to another; you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the high-quality view from the cabin. Since then, nothing has been heard about the continuation, which is a pity. San Francisco was definitely a successful reboot of the series.

Instead of bandits with huge gold Rolexes, the Czechs showed a different side of the criminal world. A time when gangsters had stricter laws than police officers. When it was forbidden to kill anyone without the approval of the mafia boss. When, finally, the criminals were gentlemen and wore expensive suits, and did not wear Adidas and did not scatter kilograms of cocaine on the tables.

A small Czech company created a cult game, much deeper and more detailed in terms of atmosphere and characters than GTA. Of course, these are series about different eras, they focus on different things. But Mafia is a more serious and adult project. It’s a paradox, but after almost nine years the developers have not been able to even repeat, let alone surpass, their masterpiece. Mafia II turned out to be a pathetic piece of work, a weak shadow of The City of the Lost Heaven. Banal plot, transience, boring missions. Illusion Softworks, please release the first Mafia on the new engine, or at least an HD edition of the beautiful original.

All Points Bulletin, better known as APB Reloaded, offers you to rob a bank and run away, shooting back from the cops, with a plump bag of money on your back. Or take the side of the keepers of order. Let us remind you that the fifth part of GTA is dedicated to bank robberies, and one of the main reference points for the developers is the wonderful 1994 action movie Heat.

APB is a multiplayer shooter in which events are very unpredictable. On a quiet street, a shootout involving special forces and bank robbers can unfold, which will result in a tense chase through a busy city. Surprises await at every turn. The fact is that players are assigned to units: they can organize an ambush for enemies, come to the aid of allies, and generally start a local war in the middle of the city. And the same thing happens throughout the metropolis.

Main feature - game process, which is tied to triggers (invisible “buttons”). Step on one of these, and your carefully thought-out bank robbery plan will instantly collapse, forcing you to think through options on the go to get out of the current situation. difficult situation. Let’s say that at the most crucial moment the alarm beeps. The security forces immediately arrive, shooting starts, and you are torn between the desires to “just escape” and “to escape with the stolen money.” And here it would also be nice for your partner to get some help - help out or run away while there is an opportunity? The security forces have their own concerns. It is much better to take the criminals alive - but the enemies do not want to surrender under any circumstances. What is more important: to shoot the robbers, or to try to arrest them, risking missing the lawbreakers altogether?

Character customization is important in MMOs. Many players want to create a hero that is different from the rest. This is quite possible in the All Points Bulletin character editor. The possibilities are vast; you can spend hours selecting tattoos or customizing the shade of your protégé's hair. Those who like to tinker with the character's appearance settings for a long time will be satisfied.

The shooter was released two years ago, but is still very popular and has proven itself well among fans of the genre. Moreover, there are practically no multiplayer action games, including bank robberies.

The GTA series has inspired many developers to create similar projects. And not everything can be called a clone; each game focuses on something different. One takes on cool chases, another with realistic fights, and the third is a general MMO. If you are waiting for the PC version or, if you have a console, for some unimaginable reason you have not yet bought GTA 5, we recommend that you go through the games from this material

The wild popularity of Grand Theft Auto 5 has always aroused not only admiration, but also the envy of Rockstar Games' competitors. Of course, such a unique game as GTA 5 could not fail to appear whole brood clones of varying degrees of usefulness. We'll talk about them today!

In fact, GTA has a huge number of clones. If we start talking about everyone, then you simply won’t have the patience to read such a huge article. Therefore, let's focus only on the most worthy imitators of the Grand Theft Auto series.

Mafia

Like GTA, Mafia is a series of games that doesn't need much introduction. These games can hardly be called clones of Grand Theft Auto, since they have their own fan base and a considerable number of achievements in the gaming industry. The history of the series began on August 28, 2002, with the American release of the third-person shooter (in Russia the game was released on May 30, 2003). To say that this game was a sensation is to say nothing. The superbly conveyed atmosphere of the Italian mafia of the 20s, an excellent plot, revolutionary graphics and game mechanics for those times ensured this game the honor and respect of fans throughout the world. long years forward. What can I say? The racing mission from the first Mafia was remembered by old gamers no less than the helicopter mission from GTA Vice City or low-rider competitions from GTA San Andreas. Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven can without any doubt be called one of the best games of the early 2000s.

Of course, the resounding success of the first part could not but lead to the appearance of a sequel. The second part of the series, entitled Mafia II was released a whole 8 years later (a huge period for the gaming industry), so you can imagine the joy of fans caused by the release of the long-awaited sequel to their favorite game. The action of the game moved from the times of Prohibition in the USA, to the 50s of the 20th century. The second part did not bring anything fundamentally new to the series, however, and did not fall flat on its face. Updated graphics, a wonderful plot, cool shootouts and breathtaking rides in retro cars - all this remains the same high level, which was very much to the liking of the game’s large army of fans.

At the moment, the third game in the series is in development, the action will move another 20 years forward and this time we will play on the side worst enemies Italian mafia - black gangs. The game is scheduled for release on October 7, 2016.

In general, the Mafia series of games is perhaps the most serious competitor to GTA and many are confident that Mafia 3 will easily compete with GTA 5. Well, we'll see.

The first part of the series was released back in 2006, after which four more games were released: in 2008, 2011, 2013 and Saints Row: Gat out of Hell in 2015. All games in the series tell about the adventures of the “Saints” gang. In the first and second parts of the game, the main character will have to take part in the war for control of the underworld of the city of Stillwater. In the third part, the “Saints” will have to engage in mortal combat with the powerful criminal organization Syndicate, during which they will leave their native Stillwater and go to Steelport. In the fourth part of the game, the main character, who managed to become the President of the United States, and his faithful “Saints” will fight evil aliens in two worlds at once: the real and the virtual. Finally, the fifth game in the series, Saints Row: Gat out of Hell will take the player to hell where he will have to fight hordes of demons.

The gameplay of the Saints Row games is almost completely copied from GTA. At least in the first two parts. However, there are also very significant differences. First and foremost is the opportunity full customization your character, including gender, race, body type and the like. Also, the game has multiplayer and cooperative mode, which games in the GTA series cannot boast of (except, of course, GTA 5). The plot of Saints Row is very unique, as well as humor, which the developers did not spare when creating levels and missions. In general, we can say that Saints Row is more likely not a clone, but a parody of GTA 5.

Sleeping Dogs was released on August 14, 2012. This game follows the adventures of Wei Shen, an undercover cop trying to infiltrate one of Hong Kong's largest criminal organizations. The game received a lot of positive reviews and gained fame as one of the best GTA games. Distinctive feature The games are perfectly realized martial arts. This component of the game boasts great realism, since the main consultant for the developers on the combat system was Georges St. Pierre himself, one of the best fighters in the history of mixed martial arts.

By playing Sleeping Dogs you can immerse yourself in a truly exciting plot and unusual setting. Another feature of the game is that the player has to choose which missions to complete: police missions or triad missions. In general, we can say that Sleeping Dogs, even if it was originally conceived as a GTA clone, turned out to be a completely separate, albeit similar, game with unique gameplay.

This creation of the famous authors of Assasins Creed was released on May 27, 2014. Despite the serious downgrade, at first the game makes a very positive impression. The graphics are still nice musical accompaniment can even be called excellent, and the mechanics of GTA, coupled with the main feature of Watch Dogs - using a smartphone to hack various devices and systems of the city, make the gameplay of this game unique. The plot is decent, although not particularly compelling. Overall, Watch Dogs is a pure clone of GTA 5, with only one difference - the hacking mechanics.

Also, not long ago it became known that Ubisoft is already developing the next parts of Watch Dogs, which will become a regular series like Assasins Creed. What is this, the birth of a new GTA killer or an attempt to make as much money as possible more money using other people's work? Future will tell.

The Godfather series is another attempt to derail GTA's laurels, this time undertaken by the eminent Electronic Arts. It would seem that all the prerequisites for success were present from the very beginning: here you have open-world mechanics with cars and shootouts, a more than recognizable name, a huge amount of money, and experienced developers. Did it work? We can firmly say yes. Of course both games The Godfather are not masterpieces of the gaming industry, but the fact that these games are quite worthy of your attention can be said with certainty. At least graphically, the first part of the game, released in 2006, compares favorably with the first part of Saints Row.

The second part appeared in 2009 and did not bring anything particularly new either to the gameplay or to the game mechanics. Both games can be called quite average representatives of the genre, neither too bad nor too good.

We hope you found our article interesting! By the way, why don't you visit other pages of our site? For example, we have a wonderful Zhiguli mod for GTA 5, which you can download from our website absolutely free of charge and without registration.

If you know the GTA game series and want to find top-notch games in the same genre, the following GTA-like series and individual games are a must-have. Big world with freedom of action, vehicles, side quests- you will find all this in the following samples of the gaming industry. So, the best games similar to GTA.

Mafia

Perhaps this is the series that deserves attention in the first place, because once upon a time only "Mafia" could compete GTA 3. And to be honest, she even surpassed her in some respects. First Mafia- it's still deserved brilliant game in the genre of action from the 3rd person in the free world. Even the second part, which became an order of magnitude more technologically advanced, could not repeat its success.

Essentially it was a more realistic version Grand Theft Auto, which offers a great script, unforgettable characters and an attractive setting of the 30s of the 20th century. "Mafia"forever! For me this is the best game of the genre, and after it comesGTA!

Just Cause

Developer: Avalanche Studios Release Date: 2006

A “tropical” version of GTA with a giant open world, lots of vehicles, high-quality graphics and good shootouts. Despite the boring plots of both games, these are some of the most beautiful GTA clones of our time.

The Saboteur

An excellent game in the Second World War setting, with mechanics GTA. Perhaps the most interesting and high-quality in the last few years, and in some places reminiscent of a cult "Mafia". Plus an unusual solution with the colors of enemy areas, an impressive fleet of vehicles, an arsenal, and a charismatic protagonist.

Despite the controversial model of car behavior, in Saboteur It's fun to play until the end credits! All thanks to a very attractive setting, simple controls and a fun narrative. The space and optimization are also top notch, so don’t miss out!

Prototype

A first-class and extremely brutal action game in the GTA style, with one difference - you cannot use vehicles in “Prototype”. But this is offset by the hellish capabilities of the main characters, both Mercer in the original and Heller in the sequel. This is an excellent 3rd person action game set in a virtual New York City that has been hit by a terrible virus.

Showdown of mutants with the participation of military equipment, an entire army of warriors and the incredible capabilities of the protagonist - this is something! One of the first games where no one and nothing can stop you, and climbing onto the roof of a skyscraper with a truck in your hands in a few seconds is a common thing! Do not under any circumstances pass by!

Infamous

An interesting, but still console GTA clone with an unusual main character. This is a superman who fights bad guys with electricity and the ability to use the environment to move quickly. This game also has a good script and several different endings.

Despite the fact that the game mechanics did not show anything new compared to GTA, this is one of the best games for PS3. The second part, as is usually the case with such series, only repeated everything that was in the original. But that doesn't make it worse.

Saints Row

A good series that became popular only after the third part. The first one came out a long time ago (2006) and due to the resounding success of the first GTA while somehow passed by many gamers. The second part (2008) suffered from technical shortcomings, but the third in 2011 is a truly magnificent action game in a free world to explore.

And with witty jokes, ridiculing the crime genre. By the way, in Saints Row a very rich arsenal and an impressive fleet of vehicles. But the most important thing is a unique character editor, which is still missing even in GTA! Be sure to try it!

True Crime

Quite old, but for its time an excellent GTA version called "True Crime: Streets of Los Angeles". The first part was released immediately after GTA III in 2003 and suggested a reverse development of events - on behalf of law enforcement officers!

The game mechanics are the same, the picture is very similar, the only negative compared to GTA- you can’t create that same chaos on the streets of the city, for which, by the way, GTA and loved by many gamers. But there is a more or less good combat system.

Sleeping Dogs

A good “Asian” GTA clone, which, in theory, should have become the next part True Crime entitled Hong Kong. But a lot has changed during the development process, although we once again have a story about a showdown between police and powerful mafia, this time in China.

A solid GTA-like action movie with shootouts, fights and chases, on a very good engine. If all GTA completed and you're tired of US cities, welcome to the world Sleeping Dogs.

Scarface: The World Is Yours

Developer: Radical Entertainment Release Date: 2006

If you love the movie Scarface, don't miss this game! Yes, it has terrible graphics and wooden behavior of the cars. But Scarface: The World Is Yours- this is a kind of “possible” sequel to the film Scarface starring Tony Montana and a voice very similar to Al Pacino!

A very good plot, great dialogues in the spirit of the original film, many funny scenes due to crooked graphics, as well as a unique system of “coolness” of the main character. One of my favorite games in this genre. I would like to transplant it to the second engine "Mafia", it would turn out to be another masterpiece!

The Godfather: The Game

A potential GTA-style hit, unfortunately, turned out to be a passable action game with uninteresting driving through dead scenery and boring shootouts. But in other way, The Godfather: The Game equipped with recognizable faces of the main characters of the film of the same name, a well-thought-out combat system and gangster romance.

The second part turned out to be weaker, but nevertheless, in this genre there are not many games about the times of Prohibition.

Crackdown

There is also a futuristic clone GTA entitled Crackdown, which also has two games. This is a similar study of a large metropolis, only with the superpowers of the main character. Here, as in Prototype, you can jump incredibly high, climb skyscrapers, use futuristic cars and an arsenal.

In the second part, almost nothing has changed, except for new missions and racing modes. Overall, an interesting action game on wheels when you need something to kill time.

All Points Bulletin

Developer: Realtime Worlds Release date: 2010

It’s a pity that the graphics and behavior model of the cars spoiled the fun of moving, so it should have been made more of a linear 3rd person action game. But that's how it happened. You are guaranteed an adrenaline rush in this game!

Red Dead Redemption

Finally, we need to mention another great game from the authors of the GTA! Although we're talking about about an adventure western, the game mechanics allow you to include RDR to our rating GTA-like games. The setting is 1911, a criminal in the leading role, a large open world, many interesting quests, bounty hunting, herbal gathering, hunting, gambling.

Yes, what is there in this game! There's even a morality system that affects interactions with other NPCs. A very highly rated and simply excellent GTA-like game, the best in its genre. It's just a pity that it's only available on consoles.
