Dmitry Kudryashov Russian sledgehammer. Let him do something else? What experts say about boxer Kudryashov

Dmitry Kudryashov was born on October 26, 1985 in the city of Volgodonsk, Rostov Region. He studied at secondary school No. 22, where he was in the karate section from the age of eight, then at the age of thirteen he came to the Olimp-2 sports club and, under the guidance of coach Nikolai Timofeev, began to actively engage in boxing. Then he moved to Michurinsk, where he met Melekhov, who later became the main coach.

Over time, he quickly progressed, repeatedly became the winner in city and regional competitions. For four years he boxed in Rostov, played for the Labor Reserves club, then in 2008 he was drafted into the army, served in the city of Kalach-on-Don in the 22nd Special Forces of the BB "Cobra". In January 2011, he won the VII All-Russian Class A boxing tournament Spartak Cup, for which he was awarded the title of Master of Sports. In total, he fought about 150 fights at the amateur level, of which he was defeated in only 12.

In the summer of the same year, Kudryashov decided to try his hand at professional boxing, and on July 30, in the village of Kushchevskaya, he made his debut fight against the Ukrainian Alexander Okhrei, whom he confidently defeated by knockout in the third round. Having won four more unconditional victories, in October 2012, in a match with Uzbek Isroil Kurbanov, he won the vacant belt of the champion of the CIS and Slavic countries according to the WBC. In October 2013, he knocked out the famous Barbadian boxer Sean Cox.

In October 2014, Kudryashov signed a promotional contract with the Russian company World of Boxing. In the same year, on November 28, he knocked out in the 1st round the former world heavyweight champion Juan Carlos Gomez of Cuba and won the WBA International title.

In 2015, on April 10, he knocked out in the 1st round the former contender for the world title in 1 heavyweight Puerto Rican Francisco Palacios. In the same year, on November 4, being a clear favorite, he sensationally lost by knockout in the 2nd round to the Nigerian Olanrewaj Durodole. In December 2016, he knocked out in the first round the former contender for the world heavyweight title, Colombian Santander Silgado.

In 2017, Dmitry Kudryashov took part in the World Boxing Super Series. In Monaco, on July 8, Dmitry's opponent was determined for the first, quarterfinal fight in the tournament. They became the undefeated Cuban puncher, holder of the WBA regular world champion title, Yunier Dorticos. Unfortunately, Dmitry could not defeat him.

Athlete height: 188 cm; weight: 89 kg.

The owner of one of the heaviest blows in the first heavyweight, in the quarterfinals of the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) will meet with the WBA world champion Cuban. In the meantime, he is preparing for the first time in his career boxing abroad, "SE" recalls five of his best fights.

KUDRYASHOV VS COX

October 26, 2013, Rostov-on-Don
Result: Kudryashov's victory by knockout in the second round

A native of Volgodonsk, with his first appearances in the professional ring, he secured the fame of a knockout master. Rivals after his hard hits fell to the floor and were in no hurry to get up. None of Kudryashov's top ten fights lasted longer than five rounds, which allowed him to fight often enough.

For example, the fight with the Barbadian was Dmitry's fifth in a year, and not the last. Cox, nicknamed Sniper, was Kudryashov's most famous opponent at that time. In April 2012, he already came to Russia, where he was knocked out in the second round in the fight for the interim WBA title.

The second trip across half the globe was no better than the first. In the starting three-minute period, Kudryashov, who owned a significant advantage, sent Cox down. And with each missed blow, the enthusiasm of the Barbadian became less and less. In the second round, Kudryashov pinned him against the ropes and finished him off with a right hand.

KUDRYASHOV vs GOMEZ

Over the next year, Kudryashov came close to the elite of his division. In his track record, in addition to winning several belts of little-known federations, he defended the WBC champion title of the CIS and Baltic countries several times and signed a contract with Andrey Ryabinsky's promotion company.

His first fight under the auspices of the "World of Boxing" was a meeting with the veteran who owns the WBA International title Juan Carlos Gomez- this Cuban is known for surviving almost nine rounds in 2009 against. But the fight with Kudryashov lasted much less. Already in the 18th second of the fight, Dmitry managed to get in between the opponent's gloves. A powerful direct blow sent Gomez to a heavy knockout, and at the same time ended his career.

KUDRYASHOV vs PALACIOS

Six months passed, and Kudryashov went to the first defense of the belt taken from Gomez. This time his opponent was Francisco Palacios- Puerto Rican, in the past twice claimed the belt of the world champion according to the WBC. Both fights with the Latin American lost by judicial decisions, and in the first one of the arbitrators gave the victory to Palacios. In addition, Francisco has never lost by knockout in his entire career.

Never - before meeting with Kudryashov. This duel lasted longer than 18 seconds, but not by much. Palacios started the fight actively, all the time trying to probe the Russian with blows, trying to turn on the speed. But at the end of the first minute, Kudryashov "two" - left to the body, left to the head - sent the Puerto Rican to the floor. In terms of consequences, it really was like being hit with a sledgehammer. Palacios got out of the ring slowly and with great difficulty.

KUDRYASHOV vs SILGADO

The victorious procession of the Russian Kuvalda was interrupted suddenly - in the fight for the WBC Silver title in November 2015, he lost to an experienced, but not too titled Nigerian. However, almost everyone has moments in their careers when they need to lose in order to take a step forward later. Kudryashov returned and continued to distribute knockouts to opponents.

Kudryashov made his second attempt to take the WBC silver belt at the beginning of last winter. His opponent was well known to Russian boxing fans. Silgado was a contender for the WBA belt in 2012, but he was knocked out by the same Lebedev. And a year and a half later, the Colombian lost by a judicial decision. Against Kudryashov, he lasted less than a round - Dmitry fought aggressively, knocking out of his opponent the desire to actively resist. At the end of one and a half minutes, Silgado was knocked down, and almost immediately after the resumption he missed the left side in the jaw - and did not rise.

KUDRYASHOV vs DURODOLA

June 3, 2017, Rostov-on-Don
Result: Kudryashov's victory by knockout in the fifth round

After a couple of victories, it's time to take revenge on Durodola. By that time, the Nigerian had already managed to lose the fight for the title of official contender for the WBC belt by technical knockout, as well as win three rating fights against little-known opponents. Therefore, by the second meeting, the owner of the same WBC Silver title, which went to the African in 2015, was already Kudryashov.

If in the first fight the Russian may have underestimated his opponent, this time his attitude was the most serious. True, if anyone considered Durodola not a very strong boxer, he was wrong - the Nigerian is also considered a master of knockouts, of which there are even more in his track record than Kudryashov. The fight, which took place with the advantage of Dmitry, lasted a little more than four rounds - in the second, Durodola lost his cap after a missed blow, in the fourth he was knocked down. In the fifth three-minute period, he went out already without a visible desire, he missed a lot. And the referee counted one more knockdown for Durodole, and then stopped the fight.

The ring nickname of this 29-year-old boxer from the city of Volgodonsk, Rostov Region, is “Slugehammer”. And this, perhaps, is true, because of the 16 fights held by this fighter in professional boxing, in 16 he won and - exclusively by knockout. In amateur boxing, Dmitry had more than 150 fights, 138 of which he won.

With a height of 189 cm, this fighter has a combat weight of 89-91 kg and, accordingly, belongs to the first heavy weight category.

In amateur boxing, Dmitry Kudryashov became the winner of the Spartak Cup, but in professional boxing he is the champion of the CIS and Slavic countries (2012) according to the WBC in the first heavy weight, the world champion (2013) GBU and, finally, the international champion (2014) in WBA version.

Master of sports in boxing and hand-to-hand combat Dmitry Kudryashov was born on October 26, 1985 in Volgodonsk.

He started playing sports at the age of 8.

At first it was a karate section. And at the age of 13, the teenager switched to boxing - Dima began training at the Olimp sports club with coach Nikolai Timofeev. A little later, in parallel with boxing, the young man also mastered hand-to-hand combat.

Even in his youth, Dmitry repeatedly became the winner of city, and then regional competitions and championships. For about four years, he represented the Labor Reserves society at them.

In 2008, Dmitry Kudryashov was drafted into the Armed Forces, but he did not give up playing sports. Already in 2010, the fighter fulfilled the standards of the master of sports in hand-to-hand combat. Speaking at the beginning of 2011 at the VII All-Russian tournament of class "A" "Spartacus Cup" held in Krasnodar, the boxer won a gold medal, for which he was also awarded the title of master of sports in boxing. So Dmitry Kudryashov became the only two-time master of sports in his native Volgodonsk.

Often at competitions of a higher level, the bias of the judges, alas, prevented Dmitry from becoming a winner - unfortunately, it happened like that. This is what experts believe is the reason that so far this, no doubt, a talented and promising fighter, has not reached great heights.

In amateur boxing, "Kuvalda" had 150 fights, after which he decided to test his strength in a professional ring.

His first professional fight took place in 2011. Already in the 3rd round, he won by knockout over Alexander Okhrey (Ukraine). Dmitry Kudryashov continued to win early victories in the following fights, only a year later having won his first title in professional boxing.

October 2012 brought the Sledgehammer a victory over Isroil Kurbonov (Uzbekistan) and, accordingly, the then vacant belt of the champion of the CIS and Slavic countries in the first heavy weight according to the WBC. Having successfully defended it in 2013, Dmitry Kudryashov knocked out Prince George Akrong (Ghana) and became the world champion - albeit not the most prestigious version of UBO, but still! In October of the same year - another champion title according to the GBU. The rival, however, this time was much more serious - Sean Cox (Barbados), who was a contender for the prestigious WBA champion title. His "sledgehammer" knocked out already in the 2nd round.

In 2014, the boxer successfully defended his WBC championship belt, defeating Lubos Suda (Czech Republic), Ivic Bachurin (Croatia), Julian Ilie (Romania) and a contender for the WBC world heavyweight title, a long-term champion in this version in the first heavyweight champion Juan Carlos Gomez (Cuba). In just 19 seconds, the Volgodonsk man knocked out the famous fugitive from Cuba, winning at the same time the title of international WBA champion.

Honorary citizen of Volgodonsk Dmitry Kudryashov manages to combine his sports career with work in the security service of the Rostov nuclear power plant, raise a daughter, take a great interest in history and hockey. Today, this puncher is on the 6th line in the world rankings according to the WBA and WBC versions, as well as on the 12th line according to the IBF.

Dmitry Kudryashov vs Francisco Palacios

2015 began with the first successful defense of the WBA International title, the fight took place at the Luzhniki arena, the contender was Puerto Rican Francisco Palacios - a fast, very maneuverable athlete.

The Palacios team relied on a long fight, the expectation was that the speed qualities of the boxer would bring the desired result, but already in the middle of the first round, Dmitry delivered a strong blow to the body in the liver area with a transfer to the head, a powerful left side hit Francisco's temple, after which he could not continue the fight, it was the seventeenth knockout victory in a row.

Dmitry Kudryashov vs Vikapita Meroro

The next fight took place in May 2015, the arena in Luzhniki was packed with Russian Hammer fans. The challenger was Vikapita Meroro, the fight took place at an average pace, but already in the sixth round Kudryashov’s “sledgehammer” reached the goal, a blow to the liver with his front hand became decisive in this fight, and again a knockout to the delight of the public.

On November 4, 2015, Kazan hosted a fight for the vacant WBC Silver title. Dmitry met with a 35-year-old native of Nigeria, Olanrewaju Durodolu. The fight began without reconnaissance, Duradola immediately rushed to the attack, inflicting the strongest series of blows, while not noticing the left hook from Dmitry, for a second it seemed that the boxer would not be able to continue the fight, but the Nigerian showed unprecedented stamina, he began the second round working as the first number.

Dmitry turned out to be tight to the ropes, after a long series of blows the referee stopped the fight, this was the first defeat of a promising Russian who has every reason to get revenge and continue his victorious career in the professional ring.

On December 3, 2016, as part of the boxing evening "Denis Lebedev - Murat Gassiev" in Moscow, Dmitry Kudryashov won the vacant WBC title for the second time and this is already the 20th professional fight in Russia, this time Santander Silgado (27- 3-0), whom he knocked out in 1 minute of the fight.

Kudryashov Durodola revenge.

The long-awaited meeting between Dmitry and the Nigerian took place on June 3, 2017, a long preparation and analysis of mistakes made the Russian move more actively on his feet, as well as build clear defensive actions, including avoiding corners in every possible way and not being pressed with his back to the ropes of the ring. In the ring, both boxers showed great perseverance and the will to win, a hail of hard blows from the very beginning showed how determined both fighters were. Durodola boxed in the usual manner, sharpening his attacks with each defensive action of Dmitry, but this was not enough, already in the 4th round he was knocked down, in the 5th round the fall on the canvas of the ring was repeated. Kudryashov, in turn, skillfully worked on the floors, focusing his attacks on the opponent's liver area, after a series of successful attacks in rounds 4 and 5, it seemed his opponent would not be able to get up, but the fight continued until the referee intervened. The result was the victory of "Kuvalda" by technical knockout in the 5th round, the successful defense of the WBC silver title, and the vacant place of the mandatory challenger for the fight with the WBC world champion in the first heavy weight.

Dmitry Alexandrovich Kudryashov (23-2-0, 23 KOs)

Despite high-level performances in boxing, Dmitry is a member of the Rostov NPP security service. He was also awarded the title of honorary citizen of Volgodonsk. In addition to boxing, he is interested in hockey and history.

BIOGRAPHY

Dmitry Kudryashov was born on October 26, 1985 in the city of Volgodonsk, Rostov Region. Already at the age of eight he began to study in the karate section. When he was thirteen years old, he came to the Olimp-2 sports club, where he began boxing under the guidance of coach Nikolai Petrovich Timofeev. Later, in parallel with boxing, Dmitry began to devote himself to hand-to-hand combat.

Kudryashov was a multiple winner of city and regional competitions. For four years he represented the colors of the Rostov club "Labor reserves". In 2008 he was drafted into the army, but he did not give up his favorite martial arts. In 2010, he completed the standard of a master of sports in army hand-to-hand combat. And in January 2011, speaking in the weight category up to 91 kg, he managed to win the gold medal of the VII All-Russian class "A" boxing tournament "Spartacus Cup", which was held in Krasnodar. For this he was awarded the title of master of sports in boxing and thus became the only two-time master of sports in Volgodonsk. “Hand-to-hand combat and boxing complement and help each other,” says Kudryashov. “I would never be able to sacrifice any of these sports.”

At competitions of a higher level, Dmitry was often crossed by biased judges. Therefore, he failed to achieve great heights in amateur boxing. In total, he fought about 150 fights in the amateur ring, of which he lost only twelve. Based on the current situation and not seeing any significant prospects in amateur boxing, Dmitry decided to test his strength in the professional ring. His pro debut took place in July 2011. In it, he knocked out Ukrainian Alexander Okhrei in the 3rd round. Kudryashov continued to win early victories over regular rivals and after a little over a year he managed to win his first title in pro boxing.

In October 2012, Dmitry stopped Uzbek Isroil Kurbonov in the 5th round and won the vacant WBC heavyweight champion belt of the CIS and Slavic countries. Having spent one of his successful defenses, in May 2013 Kudryashov was honored to become the owner of the title of world champion. True, the UBO version does not belong to the category of prestigious ones, being considered frankly secondary. But, nevertheless, having knocked out the Ghanaian Prince George Akrong, Dmitry brought possession of this belt to his asset. And in October of the same year, a knockout from Volgodonsk won another world title in the low-prestige version of the GBU. But the opponent in that fight was defeated quite seriously - the former contender for the world title in one of the leading and generally recognized versions of the WBA Barbadian Sean Cox, whom Kudryashov knocked out already in the 2nd round.

In 2014, Dmitry continued to successfully defend the belt of the champion of the CIS and Slavic countries according to the WBC. The victims of the Volgodonsk puncher in these battles were the Czech Lubos Suda and the Croat Ivica Bachurin. Then the same fate befell the experienced Romanian Giulian Ilie in a rating fight. And last November, the turn came to test the power of Kudryashov’s fists, the former long-term world champion in the first heavyweight according to the WBC, as well as the contender for the title of world heavyweight champion according to the WBC, the famous Cuban Juan Carlos Gomez. Despite all his colossal experience, the fugitive from the Island of Freedom managed to hold out against the Russian fighter, nicknamed Kuvalda, for only some 19 seconds. With a striking blow, the ex-world champion was sent to a clean knockout. At the same time, Kudryashov won the title of international WBA champion.

In April 2015, Kudryashov knocked out Puerto Rican Francisco Palacios. It took the Russian puncher less than a minute to succeed. In May of the same year, Dmitry had his next fight, knocking out Vikapito Meroro from Namibia in the sixth round. On November 4, 2015, in Kazan, Kudryashov fought against the Nigerian Olanrevazhu Durodola, to whom he lost by technical knockout in the second round. This defeat was the first in the career of a Russian fighter.

In the course of 2016, Kudryashov had two fights, winning confident victories. In May, Dmitry defeated Julio Cesar dos Santos ahead of schedule in a rating fight, and already in December he knocked out Santander Silgado, winning the vacant WBC Silver champion belt (the same belt for which Dmitry boxed with Durodola in November 2015 in Kazan). Dmitry plans to defend his title, as well as enter the fight for a full-fledged champion title.

On June 3, 2017, in Rostov-on-Don, the long-awaited rematch between Dmitry Kudryashov and Nigerian Olanrewaju Durodola took place. The fight was tense and spectacular. Both opponents relied on their knockout punch and often took risks in attacking actions. At the end of the third round, Kudryashov made a good attack. In the next round, Dmitry knocked down the opponent, but did not throw all his strength into finishing. In the fifth round, the Nigerian was once again knocked down, and after another accurate left hook from Kudryashov, who threw Durodol to the ropes, the referee stopped the fight, fixing Kudryashov's victory by technical knockout.

At the beginning of July 2017, another significant event took place in Kudryashov's career. The Russian puncher was among the participants in a large tournament in the first heavyweight division of the World Boxing Super Series. On July 9, the draw for the quarterfinal fights of the tournament took place, according to the results of which Dmitry's opponent was the holder of the WBA regular title Cuban Yunier Dorticos. The quarter-finals of the tournament will be held in September-October 2017. At the beginning of 2018, the semi-finals will take place. And the winner of the tournament will be determined in March.

Dmitry Kudryashov entered the quarterfinal Super Series fight against WBA Regular cruiserweight champion Yunier Dorticos on September 23 in San Antonio (USA). After a fairly even first round, the Cuban stepped up in the second, made several good attacks, and in the third minute knocked out Dmitry with a right hand. Kudryashov managed to get up during the referee count, but was not ready to continue the fight, and the referee stopped the fight, fixing the victory of Dorticos.

“I was waiting for this fight, I thought that I would finish brightly, I would hit Dorticos, so I had absolutely no excitement,” Dmitry commented on his defeat. - Not only was I sure of my victory, maybe it's wrong, maybe I wasn't focused enough. Now you can find many reasons. Missed, lost, now what to do. You need to shake off and move on. I have already been in this situation, now it is difficult to demoralize me, upset me, or do something with me so that my hands give up. Naturally, I would like to get back, that is, this person is number one on my list. My goals haven't changed, I still want to be a champion."

In September 2018, Dmitry Kudryashov returned to the ring after an almost year-long break and had two fights. On September 5, in Grozny, he won an early victory by technical knockout in the sixth round over the Uruguayan Mauricio Barragan (17-3, 10 KOs), and on September 15, in Kemerovo, the Romanian boxer Alexandru Zhur (17-1, 7 KOs), who was knocked out already in the first round.
