Impressions from a holiday in May

At the end of May we traveled to Krasnodar region by car and decided to stay for a week in the village of Abrau-Durso. In fact, these are two different villages of Abrau and Durso, located approximately 8 kilometers from each other. The road between them is a mountain serpentine with dashing turns and small platforms from which a magnificent view of the blue Lake Abrau opens. We stopped in Durso, where the largest popular beach is. The weather was cool for several days due to strong wind, the sun periodically hid. During the walk, my face and shoulders were badly burned, because because of the wind it seemed that the sun was not shining, I had to be careful. It was downright cold in the evenings. The water in the sea is icy, but some brave souls swam anyway. Sometime after May 27 the weather became clear and calm.

Why is it better to vacation in August?

In August, the water is already warm enough and you can swim comfortably without getting goosebumps. But, accordingly, there are much more people at this time.

Family holiday

Here you can calmly be alone during a romantic trip, lie on the beach, have dinner in a cafe, this is 100% beach holiday no fuss. The only entertainment here is a cafe on the beach. If you want to get some sleep and recuperate, this is a great place to do it. 2 days were enough for us, then we got bored, and we left by car for Novorossiysk and returned late in the evening.

Since the village itself is small, the distance to the sea is equally short. Many tourists choose accommodation with a shared kitchen, where they cook their own food; it’s much cheaper. In some hotels, but not all, you can also eat, but the price tag is very expensive. Breakfast of porridge, scrambled eggs and natural coffee it comes out to about 500 rubles, lunch for two is at least 1000-1500, very expensive. We lived in guest house"Chocolate", we had breakfast there, for lunch we bought awesome tomatoes, cheese, hot bread, which are sold in a local store. And we already had dinner in Novorossiysk.

What to do at the resort?

Lake Abrau is simply fantastic, it’s amazing most beautiful place, where you can stroll through the park area, take a lot of spectacular photos and pick up souvenirs. There is also a famous champagne winery here, where excursions with tastings are regularly held, and there are two branded stores with their products. The quality of the wines is excellent; you can buy simple table wines at a very inexpensive price. We bought a lot as gifts for relatives and at the request of friends, since their wines and cognacs are of really good quality.

The beach itself is very beautiful, clean clear water, on both sides of the rock. The beach is large pebble, there are some sharp stones, you can't really run around. Sun beds and umbrellas for 100 rubles, in large quantities. There is a large stretched awning, but there are always a lot of people there, so it’s not very comfortable. Right there on the beach there is a campsite where people relax like savages in tents. At the end of May there were still not very many cars, but already in June, they say, everything is usually packed to capacity, very noisy, music is playing from everywhere. There were no water activities at this time.
