(Monopoly) is a desktop economic game for a company of several people. Invented in America, it became popular in Russia in the 80s of the 20th century and is in demand now. Due to the cost, this entertainment is not affordable for every consumer, but now there is a chance to create a monopoly with your own hands in the absence of finances.

Any modification contains dice (cubes), chips, a field, paper money, cards inside the box. All components are easy to find in Everyday life: cardboard or photo paper, small if desired wooden block. This suggests that playing with your own hands can be done very quickly if you print out all the blanks. To avoid unnecessary confusion, it is recommended to print materials on a color printer so as not to play with cards of the same color palette.

Board game rules

This type of entertainment allows you to consider the stages of capitalization: construction, rental of houses, purchase of streets to increase the price of rent. It begins by distributing to each player the same amount prescribed in the rules of the game.

Players stand on a section of the field " Forward“- this is where the countdown of full circles starts. The order of movement is then determined by rolling the dice. Next, the cube is needed to move to the next fields. If a participant finds himself in a “Real Estate” cell that does not belong to anyone, he has the right to buy it or put it up for auction.

Real estate– the main source of income, mandatory purchase. After landing on a purchased cell, the other player must pay a fixed annuity to the owner. To increase the rent, you need to buy 2-3 plots from the same category; they are easy to find by the same color. With a full set of cells, construction begins. It is better to print the plots using a color printer.

The source of income for each modification of the board game is different: hotels, ordinary houses, and more. The amount that another player will give when entering these areas depends on the construction. In various modifications, Monopoly contains different field names. Print it out and then play Monopoly in as many different versions as you can come up with.

If a player ends up on someone’s property, and there is not enough money to pay the rent, he should pledge his property without receiving income from it until the redemption. Important role perform cards " Coffers" and "", where actions are prescribed that cannot be ignored. They can enrich the player or ruin him completely. On one cell of the field there is “ Jail", where the participant loses a move for 3 rounds of moves. The player can immediately pay for his exit or roll the dice, get a double, and then exit for free. However, if the double does not appear after three rounds, the player must pay a fixed exit cost to the treasury to continue participating.

The first of the published Monopolies. A classic game about private property. Buy property, build houses and hotels, collect rent from rivals. The game ends when all opponents are bankrupt.

The game was patented in 1935 by Charles Darrow. The game was similar to games of the same type that were released earlier, but only it stood the test of time.

After a huge number of subsequent versions, the first Monopoly is now rare and is of interest to collectors and fans rather than to hobbyists.

Monopoly: Deluxe

Released specially for the 60th anniversary of Monopoly - worldwide version famous game. There are practically no updates or modifications in the game - when creating it, the developers focused on design. Their goal was to release a more beautiful classic version that would be more convenient and enjoyable to play.

Monopoly: With bank cards

This version of Monopoly, in principle, is not much different from its classic version. Is it possible that instead of paper money it uses game money? bank cards, the balance of which is read by a small electronic ATM included in the kit. The game was the best-selling board game in Germany in 2006.

Monpoly: SpongeBob

A version of Monopoly based on the famous Nickelodeon cartoon. In this game you will have to build your wealth in underwater world Spongebob. Houses shaped like pineapples, a Krusty Krab restaurant instead of a hotel, treasure chests and much more awaits you in this edition of Monopoly. Instead of money, the game uses oysters.

Monopoly City: The gameplay retains a similar traditional atmosphere, but is much more complex in this version. Traditional properties are replaced by "districts", including previously empty squares in the center of the board. After the player captures the area, it can be developed up to eight residential blocks and industrial buildings. Owning a full set of color group is not required to start construction, and the number of blocks that can be built is limited to 1, 2 or 3 depending on the result of pressing a button on a special gadget (and the amount Money on the account). A skyscraper can be built when a complete set of properties of the same color are collected, doubling the rent for all areas is also determined by color. The gadget can also allow the construction of a station, currently the only building that can occupy a district's color line. After building two stations, by standing on one of them, the player can choose to end his turn at the other station. The gadget can also conduct auctions of unowned property, initiated by entering the auction square. Chance cards remain in this version (and must be placed on the board), and the railroad tiles have been replaced with four building permit tiles. Each cell offers a binary choice of building anywhere or a specified "nuisance" (prison, sewage treatment plant, landfill, power plant), which makes the enemy's residential buildings unrentable, or a bonus building (school, park, wind farm, water pump), which prevents placing "trouble" in the area.

At first it seems to you that you are playing the same good old Monopoly, to which a couple of new buildings have just been added. But the longer you play, the more obvious it becomes that this is a completely new board game. New game principles give you the opportunity to win with just a couple of businesses. But not so fast. Don't forget that everyone wants to win, so your opponents will also have the same privileges.

And the new 80 types of buildings make the game completely unpredictable. The game includes the principle of reasonable dependence: for example, if you own a living space near hazardous production, it will depreciate, and if production is established in unfavorable conditions, then it will cost you twice as much. Periodic earthquakes, floods and other “joys of life” add to the cheerful chaos.

If previously released versions of Monopoly were created on the theme of a specific city, now the game has become global. During the game, your monopoly can grow to global proportions. Travel around the world, move millions of dollars, build hotels and houses of all kinds, from small apartments to skyscrapers.

Game cards contain interesting information about the cities of the world, so that playing Monopoly now not only entertains you, but also expands your horizons. Like many other versions of Monopoly latest generation, the game uses gaming credit cards and an electronic ATM.

Monopoly: Mini version

"Pure" classic version of Monopoly. Compact playing field and miniature cardboard counters. In the American version of the game the dice are replaced by roulette, and in the Russian version there are three dice.

A version of Monopoly, released specifically for the little ones. General rules classic game saved. A special feature is the talking Mr. Monopoly, who sits behind the wheel of a car and rides on rails consisting of 4 collapsible parts. They are attached from the outside playing field.

Mr. Monopoly helps kids get used to the game. If a child makes a mistake, his friend will use a typewriter to tell him what to do, and then congratulate him on his win.

Even with home delivery, you will still save.

This article will give you the opportunity to create the Monopoly game you could only dream of. The rules of this game are known to everyone, but you can choose a theme for it yourself and make a corresponding playing field with cards. Personalized Monopoly games make a great gift idea and are great for entertaining during parties or quiet family evenings.

Steps

Part 1

Create your own game

Come up with a unique theme for your game. The Monopoly game can easily be remade, but first you need to come up with your own theme for it. In this case, you can think globally (for example, make a Monopoly with an ocean theme) or locally (for example, make a Monopoly based on your own city in which you live).

    • Beware of being too specific. If the theme of the game is too narrow, you will find it difficult to fill all the railway cells of the playing field or come up with Community Chest cards without deviating from the chosen theme.
    • Come up with a name for your game similar to Monopoly, for example, “Dogpoly” or “Estradopoly”.
  1. Choose a design style for the cells and pictures of the playing field that suits the theme. For example, when making a game with a medieval theme, you can use a calligraphic font for cell signatures and an image of a dungeon instead of the classic prison bars of the “Prison” cell. It is necessary to place four diamond-shaped cells in the corners of the playing field, and in the spaces between them, mark out nine rectangular cells for placing real estate.

Consider the composition of personalized real estate cells. Make a list of different objects or plots that can be bought and sold in the game. In this case, you can use a random or logical approach, for example, using names different varieties ice cream or the names of Moscow districts. For a game about St. Petersburg, you can use the names of such popular places as Nevsky Prospekt, Voznesensky Prospekt, Peter and Paul Fortress or the Hermitage. In total, there should be 22 real estate cells on the playing field.

    • You will need to use eight different colors to create the corresponding property groups.
  2. Create content for secondary game cells. In addition to the real estate cells, you will need four railways, three "Chance" cells, three "Community Treasury" cells, and three utility bills fields with their corresponding costs. In addition, do not forget to come up with your own version of the corner starting cell, as well as all the other corner cells.

    • Create "Go to Jail" and "Jail" cells. Get creative with how you want players to fall into this trap. When making a jungle game, you can create a game cell called "Vine Break", which will send you to the cell "Quicksand".
  3. Use the large empty space in the center of the playing field to further develop the theme of the game. If the game, for example, will serve as a gift for someone's wedding anniversary, then in the center of the field around the game name you came up with, you can paste photographs of this couple.

Consider if you want to change any rules of the game. Since you already initially changed the Monopoly playing field, you have every right to also change the gameplay. For example, you can come up with a more complex layout of real estate cells or change the length of stay in prison. If you do not want to deviate from the original version of the game, you can simply print it from the Internet ready-made rules games of Monopoly or put in a box with new game rules from the old game.

    Part 2

    Make a playing field
    1. Use a ready-made template to create a new playing field. The easiest way to make a new playing field is based on the schematic markings of the old field. You can just put it on Blank sheet paper onto the old playing field and copy the cell layout and correct dimensions. In this case, there is no need to cut or measure anything; to make your own game, you only need to copy the contours of the marking lines of the old field.

Make a playing field. If you are not using an old playing board as a base, you will need some material that can be easily cut to a size of 46x46 cm and then folded in the center for easy storage (for example, regular or corrugated cardboard, or thick paper). Classic Monopoly uses a square playing field with a side slightly less than 46 cm, but small stock will give you more space to personalize the game.

      • Whatever size your game board ends up being, make sure you have a box or container to fit it in. Whether the playing field is folding or regular, it must have a suitable storage box.
    2. Draw the playing field by hand. You can draw the cells of the playing field either manually using art supplies, or using special computer programs. Both options give you the freedom to choose colors and images, but if you are not good with a computer, then drawing the playing field by hand will be easier. Basically, your choice should depend on whether you want to give the game the look of a handmade craft or the look of a neater computer replica.

      • Your main assistant in making the playing field should be a ruler. Lay out the game board spaces, including the Community Chest and Chance decks, so that they are all level and the same size.
    3. Make a more accurate drawing of the playing field in a computer program. First you need to download ready-made template playing field, and then change its design in Photoshop, or you can draw the playing field from scratch in some graphics program or in the online application.

Create a PDF of the game board and print it on post-it paper from a printing company. Then the new playing field can be glued onto the old field or onto a base prepared in advance for it. Be sure to smooth out any air bubbles that may form under the sticker as soon as possible. To cover the base of the old playing field, you can use either self-adhesive or regular paper. Be sure to use a blade to make a cut in the base of the playing field so that it can then be folded compactly for storage.

    Part 3

    Make cards

Make cards for the Chance and Community Chest slots. In both cases, you will need a deck of 16 cards. Keep the actions of the cards from the original game, but change the text on them to suit the theme of your game.

      • For example, instead of a card with the words “Go to Arbat” you can write “Go to Ural Mountains", if the theme of the game was the geography of Russia.
      • In Community Chest cards, for example, you can replace the "Pay for insurance" card with "Pay for beach parking."
      • Cardboard can be cut to any size and shape, and it is also easy to use with almost any markers, pens, pencils and paints if you are making your game by hand.
    1. Prepare property cards for all property cells. For simplicity, use the same rent and security deposit rates as shown on the corresponding original cards. Be sure to include this information in handwriting or small print on the back of the cards.

    2. Create a unique game currency. You can look for regular toy money or a special set of currency for Monopoly in toy stores or online stores, or you can make money yourself. If you don't want to buy money to play, you can draw or print them.

      • Get creative with making money. For example, for a game based on the films of Eldar Ryazanov, using Photoshop, you can place portraits of the heroes of his films on game banknotes and, for beauty, additionally decorate them with an image of a film reel.
      • You can also give the game currency your own name. If you made a game with a theme about computer games, the currency may be called "credits", and in a game about Agriculture the currency could be "farmer's cabbage".

Make analogues of houses and hotels. Get creative with your choices simple shapes for the production of analogues of 32 houses and 16 hotels for gameplay. For example, if the game is about oil production, you can use drilling and oil production rigs.

    • In addition, you can always repaint the houses and hotels from the old Monopoly to match the color scheme of the new game.
    • The game can also be complicated by making multi-level houses and hotels for it. For example, you can use regular houses, skyscrapers and castles in one game, with the rental cost for each increasing accordingly.

What you will need

  • Large sheet of paper for making a playing field
  • City map
  • Art supplies to decorate the playing field
  • Polymer clay or hardening plasticine for making player pieces and houses, or ready-made minifigures
  • Cards for the "Chance" and "Public Treasury" fields, as well as real estate cards

When choosing a board game, you should pay attention to Monopoly. This game is implemented in the genre of economic strategy. It involves two or more people. Monopoly, the rules of which may differ slightly in its various variants, is a playing field with certain squares along which players take turns. Dice are used to determine how many squares a player should advance. In the game you can buy, sell or rent real estate, thereby receiving a certain income.

The rules of the Monopoly game can be called quite complex. Board game, despite this, was very popular in the 20th century almost all over the world. Her the main objective- rationally use the capital received at the beginning, which is issued to all players in equal amounts, and lead to the bankruptcy of other participants.

Beginning of the game

The beginning of the game can be divided into the following stages:

  1. Hotels, documents, houses and money should be placed in separate sectors. This will greatly simplify the gameplay when the necessary cards are in a specially designated place for them. Monopoly, the rules for placing cards in which are presented in the form of a specific diagram, has several types: some must be upside down.
  2. The Chance cards must be shuffled and turned over before the game begins so that the players cannot see their meaning. The same should be done with Public Treasury cards.
  3. Next, each player chooses a chip and places it on the starting cell.
  4. Each world "Monopoly", the rules of the game of which are classical, provides for the presence of a Banker. If a large number of players are involved in the game, then the Banker, at his discretion, may not take part as a contender for victory. At the beginning of the game, he gives each player 1,500,000 rubles in various banknotes.
  5. The banker also has all the ownership documents, hotels and houses at the beginning of the game. Also, the Banker's responsibilities include paying wages, bonuses, issuing loans and collecting fines, taxes, interest on the loan and the principal debt to the bank.
  6. In some cases, the bank may not have any money, but the rules of the Monopoly game allow the Banker to issue IOUs, which are written on plain paper. The bank cannot go bankrupt.
  7. To determine the turn order, all players roll the dice: the one with the highest number starts.

The easiest way to earn money

The general rules of Monopoly, by which you can ensure constant income in the game, are as follows:

  1. All player chips at the beginning of the game are located on the “FORWARD” square (it may be called a little differently). After throwing the dice, you must move the piece along the board. The rules allow a player to purchase a field if it has not previously been occupied by another player. According to the terms of the game, the field initially belongs to the Bank.
  2. If a player refuses to purchase a free field, then other participants can do so through an auction. In this case, the field goes to the one who offers for it highest price. Monopoly, whose rules provide for the possibility of calculating costs and payback on a completed transaction, allows players to enter into an economic struggle even when it is not their turn.
  3. After acquiring a square, the player can take certain rent from players if they happen to be on that square. In some cases, the rules of Monopoly allow the construction of houses and hotels on purchased squares, which allows them to charge higher rents.
  4. If necessary, you can take out a loan from the bank to build houses or hotels.

The amount of rent, the rules for granting a loan - everything is described in the instructions of the cards.

Progress of the game

When the game progresses, you should roll the dice and move the chip a certain number of cells that corresponds to the number rolled. The field on which the chip lands determines possible or mandatory actions. In the main variety called "Classic Monopoly", the rules of the game are the same for all participants. They include the following possible actions:

  1. Obtain a site for construction work or purchase real estate if the required amount is available.
  2. If the cage belongs to another participant, then you will have to pay rent.
  3. Using the "Chance" card.
  4. Pay taxes.
  5. Relax in the free parking lot.
  6. End up in prison.
  7. Get wages in the prescribed amount.

A special case in the game "Monopoly", the rules of which provide for the use of two dice, is the loss of the same number points on both. This situation allows you to make another move. If this is repeated three times in a row, then the player goes to jail.

Stopping on the “FORWARD” field, where the game begins, allows you to receive wages in the established amount.

Real estate ownership

When purchasing real estate, the player receives a card confirming ownership. After that, every player who stays on this field is forced to pay rent. It is profitable to own all the real estate of one group (designation is carried out using color). If you own the entire group, you can build real estate on any purchased tile.

Stopping at someone else's property

If you stop on a cell whose property belongs to another player, you will have to pay rent. It is important to take into account that the owner of the cell must demand payment before the next move of the stopped player. The amount of rent depends on the minimum amount specified in the real estate document, as well as on the number of buildings. If the owner of the cell has purchased the entire group, then he can demand double the rent on any undeveloped plot.

Hotels or houses increase rents significantly. However, if the property has been mortgaged, then no rent can be charged. At the same time, the rules of “Classic Monopoly” allow players to agree on whether rent will be paid: the owner, if desired, may not charge it.

Utilities

The game has the opportunity to purchase a utility company if it does not belong to anyone. In order to purchase such real estate, you must pay the specified amount. The property is purchased from the Bank. If the property belongs to another player, then the rent must be paid. The amount of rent is directly proportional to the number of points rolled on the dice. In this case, the following coefficients can be used to increase the amount of rent:

  • If the owner has only one utility, then four times the rent must be paid.
  • If the owner has acquired both utilities, then the number of points rolled on the dice should be multiplied by 10 times.

If the player lands on such a square after using the Chance card, the dice must be rolled to determine the amount of the rent. If the player refuses to purchase the communal property, then the banker puts it up for auction.

Stations in the game

The Monopoly Millionaire game, whose rules allow only one player to win, also has Station squares. If the cell does not belong to anyone, then the player can purchase it. If the player refuses similar right while stopping on a square, then the Banker puts it up for auction. In the event that the Station already has an owner, the player who lands on the square is obliged to pay the amount indicated on the Title Deed. The payout amount may depend on how many stations the player still owns.

"Chance" and "Public Treasury" cards

Stopping on spaces that involve the use of Chance and Community Chest cards may require the player to perform the following actions:

  • Pay taxes.
  • Move the chip the specified number of cells.
  • Go to jail.
  • Receive a certain amount.

In most cases, the game "Monopoly - Empire", the rules of the game with the use of such cards make the gameplay more diverse, requires immediate completion of the specified actions. In this case, the player must fulfill them without fail. The “Get Out of Jail Free” card is kept by the player until the need to use it arises.

Tax field

There may be cells scattered around the playing field that provide for the payment of taxes. If a player lands on such a square, he is obliged to pay the specified amount to the bank’s treasury.

Free parking

The Monopoly playing field is full of various functional cells that require the player to perform certain actions. The only field that allows you to simply rest until the next turn without paying a fine, rent or taxes is free parking. In this case, a player who lands on such a cell can carry out any transactions: collect rent, build buildings, and so on.

Jail

The Monopoly game also includes a Prison. You can get into it for the following reasons:

  • Stop at the “Go to Jail” square.
  • Raising a "Chance" or "Public Treasury" card with the designation "Go to Jail".
  • Rolling the same number on both dice three times in a row.

If you go to prison, you cannot receive a salary.

In order to get out of the Prison in a type of board game called "Monopoly - Russia", the rules of the game describe the following possibilities:

  1. You can pay a fine of 50 thousand rubles. You can continue the game from the next move.
  2. Using a previously received “Get Out of Jail Free” card.
  3. You need to stay in the Prison for the next three turns and each time a turn comes, you must roll the dice. If you roll the same number of points on both dice, you can free yourself from the Prison and go through the dropped number of cells.

During your stay in Prison, you can receive rent for purchased and unmortgaged real estate.

Houses in Monopoly

After acquiring all the real estate of one group (in other words, one color), it is possible to build houses. This allows you to significantly increase the rent. It is worth noting that construction should be carried out evenly: it is possible to cost two houses on one cell only if there is one house on each cell of the group. The cost of construction work is indicated on the Document. Maximum amount houses on one cell - 4. In addition, you can sell houses if the plot is not mortgaged.

Hotel in the game "Monopoly"

The game "Monopoly - Empire", the rules of which make it very exciting and varied, also allows you to build hotels. They are raising the rent significantly. You can build a hotel only if four houses have already been built on the purchased square. For construction, you must give the house cards to the Banker and pay the specified amount. Only one hotel can be located on one cell.

Case of building shortage

When playing for a long time and large quantities it may happen that there will be no participants in the Bank required quantity house cards. In order to build a house, you must wait until one of the players makes a sale and returns the card to the Banker. If the number of buyers exceeds the number of cards, then an auction is held and the card goes to the highest bidder. The starting price is based on the cost of the house, which is indicated on the card.

Property For Sale

The game provides the ability to sell undeveloped plots, utilities and railway stations. In this case, the transaction amounts are determined by agreement between the players. According to the rules, you cannot sell the plot on which the houses are built to other participants in the game. First, you should sell all the buildings, provided that the entire group is evenly built, and only after that a deal can be made between the players. Houses and hotels are sold to the Bank at half the price indicated on the card. Real estate previously pledged by players can be sold exclusively to other Monopoly participants, but not to the Bank.

Pledge

If there is no cash to pay taxes, you can pledge any real estate to the Bank. To do this, you must sell all the buildings from the cell to the Bank. The amount provided by the Bank as collateral is equal to that indicated on the card. When paying the deposit, the player must pay an amount exceeding that issued by the Bank by 10%. Pledging real estate does not take away your ownership rights; other players cannot purchase it from the Bank.

Mortgaged real estate does not bring profit to the owner. However, all other buildings of this and other groups do not have such restrictions.

The owner of the mortgaged property can sell it at an agreed price to another Monopoly participant. After acquisition, in order to make a profit from real estate or carry out construction, new owner must pay the debt with interest.

Bankruptcy in the game

Bankruptcy in the game means the elimination of one of the participants. The rules of the Monopoly game allow you to assign bankruptcy status to a player who owes the players or the Bank an amount exceeding his assets.

If, in the event of bankruptcy, a player owes money to the Bank, then he appropriates all the Title Deeds and can then sell the property through an auction.

If the debt concerns other participants in the game, then houses and hotels are sold at half price to the Bank, and creditors receive all rights to real estate, money, cards for free release from prison. If the property was previously pledged to the Bank, the new owner is required to pay 10% of the pledge amount immediately, and then can decide whether to buy it back immediately or later.

Thus, it is quite difficult to win by following the rules of the Monopoly game. Board game develops intelligence and economic acumen. The winner is the one who can make the remaining participants bankrupt.
