Potions in Minecraft: recipes for making potions. Potions in Minecraft: potion recipes List of negative effects

To gain a specific influence on mobs and players in the Minecraft game, you need to do potions and make potions in Minecraft, which appeared in update 1.0.0. To create them, you will need a cooking stand, water, sausage and other ingredients:

gunpowder gives the potion an explosive effect that spreads to several mobs and players;

infernal outgrowth is needed to make a Rough Potion;
on the one hand, light dust increases the effects of potions, on the other, it reduces their duration;

cooked spider eye makes the effects of potions negative, reversing them;

red dust reduces effects but increases their duration.

To give potions special effects, the following basic ingredients are needed:

  • fiery powder will give strength;
  • a sparkling slice of watermelon will allow you to instantly heal;
  • gast tear will help regeneration;
  • sugar will give speed;
  • golden carrot ability to see at night;
  • spider eye causes poisoning;
  • golden carrot together with a cooked spider eye (only in this sequence - carrot, then eye) - invisibility;
  • lava cream will give fire resistance;
  • pufferfish - the ability to breathe underwater.

Ingredients

The ingredients are potions that are used in the preparation of other potions, they are not used for other purposes.

Health

Potions for various operations with one's own health. If a regular cardio appears in the Duration row, this means that health will be restored during this time. If the heart in the row is pale, health will decrease. The effect of the potion will be instant if the "Duration" row is "0:00"

Minecraft introduced the ability to create elixirs that increase performance or restore health for a certain time. The composition of the potions includes trophies obtained from most monsters (previously these items were present in the world, but they were not needed for potions).

For example, in version 1.9, a spider eye appeared. With it, you can make an elixir that gives you the ability to breathe underwater. In addition to items that drop from monsters, potions will require sugar, water and, of course, a glass vessel. Most of the ingredients can be found in the Nether, where fire wands fall from efreets (they make two portions of the much-needed fire powder), and tears from ghasts.

Potions vary in both type and quality. What effect lies in a particular potion can be guessed by its name. In the game, in general, there are about 400 types of potions. The completed version 1.9 will include a cauldron and a tripod, with which you can create various elixirs.

Elixirs of Positive Action Recipes

Level 1 health elixir can be obtained from ghast tears. With it, you can restore several lives of the character. To get a second level potion, you need to mix a ball of mucus, an infernal wart and sugar. Level 3 Health Elixir is obtained by mixing all of the above components, while replacing the slime ball with fire powder.

After creating a fire resistance potion, it will be possible to safely swim in lava, as in ordinary water. It will be impossible to set the player on fire for 3 minutes. The duration of this potion may vary depending on the ingredients used. To get the effect of fire resistance, you need magma slime. She can appear from magma cubes (in the Nether, they are analogues of slugs).

Recipes for different potions can be crossed. By experimenting, you can achieve a high quality elixir, which will give several gains at once. For example, if you mix a gast tear and magma slime, you get an elixir that simultaneously restores health and gives you the ability to resist fire. If, for example, you cross a speed-increasing sugar with a gast tear, then as a result of such a tandem, you get a healing potion of speed.

The combination of water, magma slime and a spider's eye will allow you to stay in hot lava with impunity for three minutes. At this time, the character will have the ability to breathe freely under water and not burn in fire.

Elixirs of Impact

Along with positive effects, elixirs can cause unpleasant consequences. For example, combining Sugar, Water, Fermented Spider's Eye and Infernal Wart increases speed, improves fire resistance, and adds health. But this drug also has a side effect - hunger, which will last about a minute and a half.

Elixirs of influence can also inflict instant damage to the player, slowing him down for a while or even poisoning him.

Having the opportunity to create potions, players can start building their own laboratories, where they will conduct experiments, combining the necessary ingredients in different proportions, thereby improving the effect of the elixir.

The effect of the potion will disappear if you drink milk (this is in case you try to be under the influence of the potion).

Minecraft effects affect mobs or the player for a certain time. There are currently over 20 different effects in the game. Do you think it's not enough? Not a problem! After all, their number can be increased by installing the Effects mod under Minecraft. Nevertheless, in this article we will consider the standard modifiers that are present in the official game client. Do you want to know more about them? Welcome to this article.

How to make effects in Minecraft?

There are several ways to get this or that effect. The simplest is to use a potion. Where to get it? You can brew the potion yourself (the effect that the player will receive depends on the ingredients). In addition, the potion can be found (for example, in chests that are located in the village). It is worth noting that there are several types of potions. The usual is drunk and imposes the effects of "Minecraft" only on the one who applied it. And exploding and settling potions, in turn, are sprayed in a certain radius, and act on several players or mobs at once. In addition, various effects can be obtained if you stand near the lighthouse.

Enter a command - another way to get effects is to enter into a special console. However, this method is not suitable for everyone. After all, in order to use commands on servers, you need to be an administrator. And in a single game you need a creative mode.

Several modifiers can hang on one player at the same time, even if they are opposite in effect (for example, speed and slowdown). It's also worth noting that Minecraft effects don't stack. That is, if you apply several identical potions, then in this case the effect will not increase.

Positive effects "Minecraft"

Speed - expands the player's field of vision and increases his walking speed by as much as 20%.

Haste - increases the speed of movement of the hand by 20%, due to which the blocks are destroyed much faster.

Blindness - narrows the view and at the same time does not allow you to run, inflict critical damage.

Levitation - the player begins to fly up uncontrollably. This modifier is applied if the mob shulker hit the character with its projectile.

Poisoning - removes 0.5 hearts every second. If the player has only 0.5 life left, the effect does not kill. When poisoned, the health indicator turns green.

Night vision - increases the brightness of the image and the range of vision in the water.

Weakness - reduces all damage dealt by the player by 0.5 hearts.

Bad Luck - Reduces the chance of catching fish while fishing.

Before we tell you how to make a potion, let's figure out what it is and why it is needed in Minecraft at all. We will also tell you how to find the necessary ingredients for their preparation and how to mix ready-made potions with powders to enhance the effect.

What are potions?

In the game, they are self-cooking objects that have various temporary effects on the player they are applied to. By mixing different ingredients with water, many types of potions can be created that can harm, heal, or buff the player or opponents.

A potion can only have one effect at a time: for example, it cannot heal the player and increase their running speed at the same time. To get both, you need to alternately drink two different potions: healing and swiftness.

Since the change in Minecraft 1.9 Beta Prerelease 2, there are a number of potions that are not used, they cannot be cooked. But they can be obtained using the "/give" command, they are not found in the game in other ways. Many of them are simple potions no longer used, such as cleansing or strength. Therefore, we will not talk about them in this article.

To create potions, you need to place the required ingredients on the brewing stand. We will talk about how to craft a rack below.

How to make a potion in Minecraft

They are obtained by boiling with water and various ingredients, offering a variety of effects. There is one basic and twelve basic. You can improve their duration, effectiveness and area of effect.

1. Create a hob

The brewing stand is needed to create all types of potions in Minecraft. To create it, follow these steps:

  1. Right click on the workbench;
  2. Fill the bottom row with cobblestones;
  3. Place one fire rod in the middle.

To craft a brewing stand, all you need is one fire rod and three cobblestones.

Cobblestones can be easily found when mining underground. Fire Rods can only be found in the Nether when killing Ifrit, a hostile mob attacking with fireballs.

This is Ifrit, his breathing can be heard from afar. Ifrits usually dwell in the fortresses of the Nether.

To enter the Nether, you need an appropriate portal.

To create it, you need to create a frame of obsidian blocks (4×5) and set it on fire with a steel.

Here is a good video on creating a portal to Hell, and in general it contains a lot of useful information about going to the Nether:

It is worth saying that for boiling you can use a cauldron, which is crafted from seven iron ingots. But due to the inconvenience of use, he gave way to the hob.

The cauldron did not take root in the game due to inconvenience. The developers promise to come up with a different application for it in the future.

Right-clicking a rack opens four slots:

The bottom three slots are for vials or potions, and the top one is for an ingredient.

This single ingredient is poured into the three vials at the bottom, allowing you to create three bottles of the potion from the same ingredient. To use the brewing stand, the vials must always be filled with water or a potion; if they are empty, nothing will happen. The water bottle is blue, as in the picture above, the empty bottle is transparent, as in the picture below:

To craft a bubble, you need three glass blocks. They will make three bubbles.

3. Brew an awkward potion

Awkward is the base ingredient for most other Minecraft potions. It can be made on a brewing stand using a vial of water and infernal growth seeds.

These seeds are found in the Nether, where they grow in blocks of soul sand.

Infernal outgrowth is generated in the fortresses of the Nether in places specially designated for them (reminiscent of beds), as well as in chests.

If the player takes the block of soul sand and the seeds of the infernal growth through the Nether portal to the top, they can begin to grow the growth themselves to produce potions. The growth grows in any biome, as long as the soil is soul sand.

The awkward potion is prepared as follows:

  1. Right-click on the brewing stand;
  2. Place the Nether Growth Seeds in the top slot;
  3. Place the WATER VIAL on the bottom row.

By placing one Hell Growth Seed and three Water Vials, you will get three Awkward.

The brewing stand will take approximately 19 seconds to create a potion after placing the ingredient and vials in it.

Accordingly, one hellish growth seed is needed to create three basic potions. Awkward itself has no properties and is only used to make other potions.

4. Combine base potion with ingredients

After creating a few bubbles of awkward, you can start creating basic potions that will have various effects, such as increasing strength, health, underwater vision, or even invisibility. They will require a variety of ingredients besides hell growth seeds, such as fire powder, lava cream, and ghast tears.

It will take a lot of travel to collect the right ingredients. The table below describes the main potions and their ingredients.

Main Base Potion Ingredients Action Description
fire resistance awkward lava cream Fire 3 minutes does no harm
Harm poisoning/treatment Cooked spider eye Deals 3 damage
Treatments awkward shiny melon Heals 2 health
invisibility night vision Cooked spider eye Invisibility for 3 minutes
night vision awkward golden carrot Night vision for 3 minutes
poisoning awkward Spider Eye Deals damage over 45 seconds.
Regeneration awkward Ghast's tear Restores 9 health points over 45 seconds.
slowness Elan Cooked spider eye Slows down speed for 4 minutes
Forces awkward fire rod Increases damage dealt for 3 minutes
Elan awkward Sugar Increases speed for 3 minutes
Breathing underwater awkward puffer fish Gives breath underwater for 3 minutes
Weaknesses awkward Cooked spider eye Reduces damage taken for 1.5 minutes

As you can see, awkward is the base of most basic potions.

They can increase the damage dealt to enemies. Certain potions are suitable for certain situations, for example, fire resistance helps in fighting mobs like Ifrits in the Nether. In a multiplayer game, invisibility is a great way to sneak past enemies. The ability to create potions is a very useful skill in Minecraft.

Combining potions with powders

Many potions can be enhanced by making them more effective and increasing their duration. Combining with powders allows you to, for example, increase the duration of the regeneration effect or turn the slowness potion into an explosive one, increasing the number of targets hit.

Powders are the mashed residues of solid materials. To enhance primary potions, you need red dust, light dust and gunpowder.

Strengthening and Ingredients

Preparing basic potions with these three powders increases their effect.

Like many ingredients, Light Dust is found in the Nether. You'll have to find a Glowing Stone that looks like a block with yellow flecks.

Very often, these blocks are located on the ceiling of deep caves, which complicates their extraction. They turn into light dust already at the workbench.

Red dust is mined underground from red ore.

Red ore can be smelted, but laying it on the ground and using an iron pick will yield up to five redstone.

Gunpowder cannot be mined: it can be obtained by killing creepers (the chance of gunpowder falling out of them is 66%), witches (16% in total) and ghasts (also 66%), and also found in dungeon chests (the chance of gunpowder falling out is completely random, but this is the most safe way). It is best to hunt ghasts, as they still drop "ghast tears" used in potion brewing.

Ghast hunting is the most efficient way to get gunpowder, but also the most dangerous. And the sounds made by the gast cannot be expressed in words at all ...

Potions Recipes

The recipes for making potions in different versions of Minecraft are slightly different. Above, we described the main points of their creation and what is needed for this. To list all existing recipes within the framework of this article is simply unrealistic. Moreover, with the release of new versions of the game, recipes may change and be supplemented with new ingredients. Therefore, here we will leave a link to a very good resource, which always contains up-to-date information on potions, information about all ingredients and reagents.

Potions help in difficult moments of the game in Minecraft, especially in boss battles and on multiplayer maps. The secret lava hideout can only be accessed with fire resistance, or you can install an atomizer that will throw a poison potion at anyone who steps on the pressure plate. As you can see, the thing is very useful, but it requires a trip to the Lower World.

And remember, you don't have to wait for the potion to wear off. Potion effects can be removed by drinking a bucket of milk.
