Which pistol is best for self-defense without a license. What weapons for self-defense do not require permission and a license: a review of the most effective means

The right to self-defense is one of the key human rights. Everyone can and should protect themselves from illegal actions by third parties: this is true for a guy, a girl, a motorist, a schoolchild, and anyone else. But, as you already know from the first lesson, the range of issues relating to taking necessary defense measures is very problematic from a legal position. AND the most important aspect here is the right to use means of self-defense, as well as their legality. We will examine these problems in the third lesson.

Choosing self-defense means

It has already become clear that the degree of response to a threat must be commensurate with its seriousness. For example, if you shoot a pistol or poke a knife at an unarmed person attacking you, legally (and morally in most cases) you will be guilty, because exceed the limits of necessary defense. Accordingly, the choice of means of self-defense is determined by the level of threat. But in any case, a person has every right to have a means of self-defense; the main thing is that it be legal.

Items used for situational self-defense

This category includes almost all objects (bottles, axes, shovels, crowbars, etc.) that, in theory, can cause harm to human health. You do not need to obtain any permission to use such tools. The main problem here is considered to be the indiscriminate nature of their impact, because a blow with a crowbar or the butt of an ax can lead to the death of a person, and this in turn will be recognized in most cases as exceeding the limits of self-defense and will entail criminal punishment.

Special means of self-defense, the acquisition and use of which do not require permits

The advantage of such means is the optimal combination of impact force, which is sure to stop the enemy, and non-lethal impact. This category includes stun guns, gas cartridges, aerosol and pneumatic pistols and others. It is practically impossible to kill or cause serious injury with any of these means, except when people shoot in the eyes or temples, use them at close range, or are overzealous in knocking out the enemy as best they can. It is these means of self-defense that are considered the most optimal when we're talking about on physical and legally flawless protection.

Firearms and bladed weapons

These are means, the use of which with a high degree of probability can lead to death, which is almost always an excess of the limits of necessary defense. The possession of such means not only requires special permission, but they can only be used in two cases: if there is a real threat to a person’s life and if this threat cannot be eliminated by any other means.

It is important to say here that if thieves break into your house, you, taking precautions and warning them about your possible actions, can use firearms or bladed weapons. But it must be borne in mind that judicial practice shows that even in such situations the defender can be brought to criminal liability if it is impossible to prove the unlawful actions of the attackers after the fact.

And one more nuance: even if the use of the weapon in question by the defender was justified, but he did not have the official right to keep and use it, he will be held accountable.

IMPORTANT ADDENDUM: There is another category of weapons - weapons that are prohibited and do not belong to the field of self-defense. This includes a variety of homemade fins, brass knuckles and pistols, flamberge swords, weapons with automatic fire mode (machine guns, submachine guns), hollow point bullets, napalm, anti-personnel mines, cluster munitions, biological, climatic, laser, chemical and nuclear weapon etc. and so on. Naturally, we will not consider these types of weapons in this lesson.

Based on the above, the safest means of self-defense are those that do not involve lethal effects. With their help, it is easy to stop a criminal without worrying about the legality of your actions. Therefore, they should be considered in more detail.

Types of self-defense means

Gas pistols

One of the most common means of self-defense. Its advantages include impressive appearance(resembles a real “barrel”), tangible weight and the fact that you can just hit it properly, i.e. "knock out" a person without even shooting him.

But this type of weapon also has disadvantages. Firstly, this is its price - a high-quality gas pistol is not cheap. Secondly, to purchase you need to obtain permission from the police, and this procedure is slow and rather red-tape, plus it also costs money (note that buying a gas pistol without a permit entails administrative liability, which means confiscation of the self-defense device and a fine). And thirdly, the firing range of a standard gas pistol is from 3 to 5 meters, and if suddenly a strong wind blows between you and the attacker, the weapon will not have the expected effect (it may even have the opposite effect).

In addition, the gas “barrel” cannot be used in a confined space, for example, on a landing, in an elevator or inside a car - the gas will fall not only on the offender, but also on the one who uses the weapon. And another potential danger is that the criminal may mistake the pistol for a combat one: if the villain turns out to be an ordinary gopnik, he will simply run away, and if he is a seasoned repeat offender, and even armed, the sight of the pistol may provoke him to use a knife or your pistol, although not a gas pistol.

Traumatic pistols

In our country, traumatic pistols are allowed to be used only with rubber bullets and, again, only with permission. It is more difficult to obtain such weapons than the previous ones: for the most part, they are allowed to be carried by police, court and prosecutors, lawyers conducting serious trials, and less often by journalists, employees of audit and tax services, fisheries supervision and other organizations.

You can purchase “trauma” from people who specialize in the illegal sale of such products, but this is fraught with fines and administrative liability. If the “barrel” is converted into a combat weapon, criminal liability is provided for this. In short, a traumatic pistol is, of course, good, because... extremely effective, knocks the enemy down and can be used in any conditions, but becoming its owner is very difficult.

Pneumatic guns

“Pneumatic guns” are available for sale in any store selling equipment, fishing and military equipment and ammunition, self-defense equipment, etc. Anyone can buy such a pistol. The only condition is a restriction on the caliber of the bullet and its flight speed: the caliber must be no more than 4.5 mm, and the speed of the bullet must not exceed 100 m/sec (if these conditions are violated, the owner bears administrative responsibility, which means the weapon will be confiscated and fine).

The advantage of such a pistol is that from afar or in the dark it can be mistaken for a combat pistol (but sometimes this is also a disadvantage, as in the case of a gas pistol). However, this is where its advantages end, because... it is ineffective. It will not cause serious damage to the enemy (unless you shoot at the eyes, temples and other particularly sensitive places, for which they can be prosecuted). The bullet (a small steel ball) is not capable of penetrating thick clothing or even thick skin. It is easy to protect yourself from a shot by simply stretching your arms out in front of you.

If an amateur or a youngster attacks, air gun It might startle him, but if you're dealing with a serious criminal, the best thing you can do with this weapon is hit it with the handle, throw it in the face, and run away. So decide for yourself whether this item is worth purchasing. However, it can serve as a good toy - it’s fun to shoot at cans, one and a half tins and glass bottles in the company.

Traumatic weapon

Not only pistols, but also other objects can be traumatic. One of the most popular devices is the Osa complex. It consists of a barrelless pistol and special cartridges that have a traumatic, light-sound, lighting or signaling effect.

The force with which the “Wasp” shoots, for example, a rubber bullet, is 120 J, but after 10 meters it decreases to 70 J. However, this is more than enough for the villain to “get lost” for some time. If you shoot from close range, a person can be crippled, so you need to use the “Wasp” very carefully.

Such weapons are compact, which allows you to carry them in a belt or even a handbag or pocket. It is useful to have one, but again you need to get permission. In addition, you will have to pay a lot of money for the purchase. If all this is solvable for you, then “Wasp” could be an excellent choice.

Aerosol guns

Aerosol guns- this is a kind of intermediate link between gas pistols and spray cans. A good example can serve as an “UDAR” (metered aerosol spray device), into which a BAM (small-sized aerosol can) is inserted. The pistol's magazine can hold up to five BAMs containing a pepper mixture, and the impact distance can be up to 4 meters.

Due to its composition, the jet, when it hits the enemy’s face, instantly incapacitates him for a period of 10 to 30 minutes, causing severe irritation of the mucous membranes and severe pain. The weapon is effective both in open space and in enclosed spaces, because the stream is not sprayed, but directed concentrated.

The advantages of an aerosol gun include the low cost of the gun itself and the cans, as well as the fact that it does not require special permission and it is impossible to kill a person with it. In general, it’s a good and effective thing that can help in a difficult situation.

Gas cartridges

Initially - when gas cartridges first appeared - they gained great popularity and were in great demand. However, over time, for some reason, manufacturers reduced the concentration of harmful substances, and today, to be completely honest, this means of self-defense has become an almost useless thing, instilling in its owners the illusion of safety.

Spray cans are effective at a distance of no more than 1.5 meters. The wind easily redirects the gas flow in any direction. When used rarely, the destructive substance in the cylinder cakes, which is why the cylinder must be shaken before use, and the criminal will certainly not wait for you to do this.

Most cans can be used continuously for a maximum of 10 seconds. This weapon should not be used indoors or in confined spaces. In addition, if the villain is drunk or “stubborn,” he may not feel the effects of the substance at all. In other words, this means of self-defense is ineffective, but it costs mere pennies.

In principle, you can purchase a gas canister, knowing in advance about its shortcomings. But when purchasing, you should explore several options, consult with a consultant, look at certificates, etc. You also need to be sure that the mixture contained in the cylinder will not deprive a person of his vision, otherwise you can get seriously “hit” - that’s how our state is: they attacked a person and wanted to cripple him, but he fought back, but turned out to be guilty and went to prison, but the criminal also went to court and won the case - the height of logic and the limit of concern for respectable citizens!

Stun guns

Stun guns, contrary to popular belief, can be freely purchased and used for self-defense by citizens of the Russian Federation who have reached the age of majority. Those. There is no need to obtain any certificates or permits to purchase such a device.

“Shockers,” as the name suggests, hit the villain with a solid electric shock. With quick contact they have a knockback effect, and with longer contact they disorient and deprive the attacker of any ability to perform conscious actions.

Despite the effectiveness of stun guns, they have several significant disadvantages: they may not work through clothing, especially in winter time, when people are wearing sweatshirts and warm jackets, which means you need to manage to get to an open place on the enemy’s body. And the “shockers” operate on batteries, which do not always remain operational, especially in cold, hot weather and during long periods of inactivity. So, trying to shock the villain, you can get a more powerful blow to the jaw.

However, people are not afraid of the shortcomings of the presented means of self-defense, and therefore the demand for them is great. Today you can find a wide variety of stun guns: from classic versions to those disguised as pens, phones, lighters, flashlights, etc. They are inexpensive, and, by and large, acquiring such an item for your protection is quite good.

Knives

Knives are the most widespread and cheapest type of weapon, the most accessible and dangerous. But using a knife is a delicate matter, and before buying it for self-defense, you need to think a hundred times about how you will use it, and whether you will do it at all. Remember that an attempt on the life of a person, even a criminal, is a criminal offense. And using a knife involves maximum risk to life, including your own.

In addition, the law prohibits the use of knives against people and even carrying them with you. Of course, we are not talking about penknives, but about hunting, combat and other types of knives. Not every knife can be classified as a bladed weapon.

Be that as it may, many people have pocket, pen or butt knives with them: if something happens, you can cut food, cut off a piece of fabric, unscrew a bolt, and, of course, stand up for yourself. True, when making a threat, you should understand that the knife can be taken away and used against you, and if you injure or kill a person, from a victim you will instantly become a criminal who will be convicted to the fullest extent of the law.

Let's summarize: the advantages of knives lie in their effectiveness and ability to incapacitate an enemy, relative cheapness and legality. The disadvantages are the risk of causing serious harm, incurring criminal liability. Yes, and you need to be able to wield a knife, otherwise you can do such things that you will have to regret and repent for the rest of your life. In simple words: let the knife be for cutting sausages, but for self-defense it is better not to use this type of weapon.

Brass knuckles

Brass knuckles, like other objects of crushing, impact and throwing effects, are prohibited by law, but due to their popularity we will still say a few words about them. This thing is quite curious, but very, very dangerous. If you suddenly have brass knuckles purchased or made yourself, it (like a knife) should be the last thing you think of turning to in a fight or other extreme situation.

Using brass knuckles, you can not only crush your opponent’s face into smithereens, but also kill him. And here no lawyers will help. Of course, if the situation is such that either you or the villain, and there is no other way, brass knuckles will help you defeat the scoundrel and defend yourself, but you need to be prepared that you will have to answer for your actions.

Plastic undercastet

Plastic under-knuckles are also called stingers, skull-knuckles, dog-knuckles, cat-knuckles, etc. depending on the type. These devices are completely legal and in everyday life they serve as key rings. If an extreme situation arises, fingers are sent to the keychain’s “eyes”, which is why it turns into a good weapon.

A significant advantage of the under-knuckle is that it cannot cause serious injury, but thanks to its “ears” it strengthens the punch. Considering that such items are made of plastic, they will not be detected by metal detectors, which means they can be carried with you almost everywhere.

Any such keychains are inexpensive, fit in your pocket and do not require any permits. They can be attached to keys or a belt. But there is no point in talking about great efficiency here, because... after all, this is not a professional means of self-defense, but for the most part an accessory from the “just in case” category.

Kubotan

Kubotan is a means of self-defense created in Japan, but adopted by police officers in many countries around the world. In appearance, the kubotan resembles a harmless keychain, but in skillful hands it turns into a most effective poking weapon and a means for grabbing and creasing the hands and arms of an attacker.

An analogue of the kubotan is the yawara - a similar object, only with pointed ends for even more painful blows. In close combat, there is probably nothing that can replace the kubotan and yawara - even if you poke this weapon lightly somewhere in the ribs or neck, the enemy will lose all desire to mess with you.

Many tricks and techniques for working with kubotan and yawara can be found on the Internet. The cost of the weapon is very small; no permit to carry is required. Even at the airport you will be allowed on the plane with these items. It is quite suitable for a student, for a girl, for a motorist.

Telescopic batons

Telescopic baton- this is a very interesting thing: when folded, it fits in the palm of your hand, pocket or handbag, and if necessary, it can instantly turn into a serious weapon that can easily inflict serious injuries on the offender.

It is precisely because of its health hazard that the telescopic baton is classified by many experts as a bladed weapon and a special equipment. In Russia, only law enforcement officers have the right to have and use this means of self-defense. The legislation does not provide permission for the use of such batons by ordinary citizens.

It’s also unlikely that you’ll be able to buy a baton, but many craftsmen manage to make them themselves. This is done very simply - you just need to have several metal pipes of different diameters and lathe for turning parts. In combat, the telescopic baton is extremely effective, but you can use it only at your own peril and risk.

Repellent devices

The category of deterrent devices includes all kinds of devices such as sirens and personal alarms. When used, they emit a strong squeal and whistle, which is supposed to scare away the attacker and put him to flight. The cost of any repellent devices is quite low, they easily fit even in the smallest pockets. But there is no need to talk about high efficiency - they, of course, will scare away a dog or a kindergartener, but they will only make a more or less serious opponent laugh (although, if so, this can help you get out of problems).

Models

Dummy knives and pistols can be called a means of self-defense only nominally. In the dark, a lighter made to fit a “barrel” may have the desired effect on the consciousness of a heavily drunk Gopnik. But in the event of a real threat, the use of such a means will look like baby talk, because It is very difficult to inflict any damage on them.

In addition, there is an effect here similar to what we described when talking about gas pistols. At the sight of a “bag” or a “feather”, the criminal (he may not know that the victim is holding a dummy) can move on to more decisive actions, and he will have to “resolve” something that could have been avoided altogether.

If you don’t have the money or desire to purchase a real means of self-defense, you can throw a dummy weapon into your purse or pocket. In all other cases, it is better to get something more serious.

Available means

Available means- these are any things and objects that you can use for protection in case of an attack on you. If there is no specialized means, a heavy bag, an umbrella, deodorant, a brick, a bottle, a chair, a table, a potato, an apple, a glass and any other object that is in your field of vision that can be thrown, hit, or splashed in the face will be suitable for defense. etc. But remember that you shouldn’t be too zealous, because the degree of your defense should be commensurate with the degree of threat.

So, we have looked at most of the available self-defense means. As you can see for yourself, the choice is not bad. All you have to do is choose what you like and suits you. And here are some recommendations on this topic:

  • If you often have to walk through dark alleys, it is better to choose a stun gun or “Osu”
  • If you like to run in parks, you can choose a special gas cartridge for athletes - small and conveniently attached to your hand, or a personal alarm
  • If you live in a disadvantaged area and a ride in an elevator is a new “extreme” experience for you every time, it is better to have a stun gun, a can of pepper gel or an aerosol gun, a kubotan or a jawara
  • If you often walk with your child and fear for his safety, arm him with a personal alarm device
  • If you are afraid of dogs, an ultrasonic repeller would be a great option.
  • If you often go out into nature and like to set up camp and sit by the fire at night, the “Wasp” and several sets of different cartridges for it will always help you
  • If you are confident in your reaction and quick actions, feel free to purchase a stun gun, kubotan or yawara
  • If you're a wimp, can't hit a person hard, or just simply, buy a short-casted weapon, an aerosol gun or a stun gun.
  • If you are a motorist and often drive a car, throw a gas canister or a shocker into the glove compartment or armrest, keep a heavy baton or tire iron in the trunk, and hang a key fob with a personal alarm on your keys (by the way, transporting it in the car is the same as carrying , you can only use self-defense permitted by law and with a permit document, if required)

Note that these are only general tips and, in fact, any option is suitable for both men and women, students, pensioners, motorists, etc. But remember: whatever you choose, you need to use it wisely and only in cases of extreme necessity - when there is a real threat to the life and health of you or your loved ones.

A lot has been said about the effectiveness and benefits of self-defense means, but there are often situations when you simply don’t have anything like that with you (or don’t have anything at all), and you have to rely only on your own strength. If you are a master of sports in boxing or kickboxing, a champion in sambo or mixed fight, your chances of giving selection to the scoundrels are high. But if you lead a lifestyle completely different from it, everything becomes significantly more complicated.

However, it is not at all necessary to become a professional fighter in order to “knock out” an attacker or simply hurt him so that he falls behind. It is enough to know a few effective self-defense techniques. Naturally, we are not saying that if you know how to twist a wrist, you will emerge victorious from any fight, but it is still better to be able to do it than not to be able to do it.

In the next lesson you will get acquainted with the features of self-defense on the street and in a confined space, the most effective strikes, some methods of defense and attack, pressure points and methods of influencing them. You will also learn how to free yourself from being grabbed and strangled, what to do if you are grabbed by your clothes or neck, what to do if you are grabbed from behind, how to behave if you want to hit you with a fist, knife or baton. In addition, we will give a set of recommendations and techniques for the fair sex. Knowing how to carry out a couple of techniques, and even having a means of self-defense with you, you will become a person with whom few people want to sort things out.

Want to test your knowledge?

If you want to test your theoretical knowledge on the topic of the course and understand how suitable it is for you, you can take our test. For each question, only 1 option can be correct. After you select one of the options, the system automatically moves on to the next question.

The modern world is far from ideal. Outbreaks of violence and aggression among civilized society are no longer an exception. And they are increasingly becoming widespread. It is almost impossible to predict where and when the next conflict of interest will occur, so anyone can become a participant in a non-standard situation, regardless of their desire.

Stun guns

Today, purchasing a self-defense device without a license is not particularly difficult - you can find a suitable model on the Internet or visit a specialized store.

Despite the saturation of the market with new and more improved protection, the leading position is still occupied by the time-tested stun gun.

A small device, easily hidden in a pocket or handbag, can produce a voltage of up to three million volts, which, in fact, amazes the enemy.

Self-defense tools such as stun guns are generally not harmful general health humans, causing only muscle spasms and burns, in rare cases causing loss of consciousness. However, if a person has problems with work of cardio-vascular system, electric shock may become serious test to the body and even lead to death.

However, the use of a stun gun is not necessary, since the very sight of an arc of electric current instills fear in the enemy, and, fearing to be hit, he, as a rule, hides.

Another advantage of this tool is the absence of certain physical parameters and special skills.

Using a stun gun is quite easy, you just need to bring the device to an area of the enemy’s body and press the start button.

Gas cartridges

The best means of self-defense for women is aerosol-gas devices. They are very accessible and widespread, sometimes they are even sold in supermarkets.

The principle of operation of such a device is the damaging effect of a special gas on human mucous membranes. The gas is harmless to human life and has only a temporary effect, namely: lacrimation, pain, disorientation, and respiratory rhythm disturbance.

With this method, coordination of actions is important, since if the gas jet does not hit the target (eyes, mouth), the enemy will not receive proper damage and may become even more angry.

Telescopic baton

Some means of self-defense are completely harmless at first glance. For example, when folded it resembles some kind of pen case. But as soon as you press the button, the mechanism is activated, presenting a terrifying means of self-defense. The baton is made of durable material, which allows you to increase the impact force many times over.

The disadvantage of this device is its undesirable use by persons with weak physical training. If you act poorly and the force of your blow is not enough to destabilize the enemy, he may take the weapon and use it against you.

Brass knuckles

The most ancient means of self-defense (without a license) that allows you to increase destructive power in a fist fight is brass knuckles, or hand weights. Of course, such a remedy will only be useful for men, since women rarely come into close contact with the enemy.

It is known that even ordinary keys held in the palm of your hand double the impact force.

Brass knuckles can cause significant harm to an opponent in the form of cuts, cuts and abrasions. Some species are equipped with sharp blades or spikes, which essentially turns them into bladed weapons.

However, these means of self-defense do not require any permitting document.

Laser stun guns

An improved and more functional type of shocker. The operating mechanism is equipped not with a current, but with a laser device, which blinds the enemy and causes disorientation in space.

The device is compact and does not take up much space, so it can be hidden even in a small handbag. To use a laser shocker, no physical advantage, special skills or direct contact are required. It is effective even at a distance of two meters, which allows you to start using it even before approaching the attacker. The likelihood that the enemy will take possession of your weapon is reduced to a minimum. In addition, the laser beam can be directed at several opponents, so this one is very effective in a group attack. To activate the mechanism, simply pressing a button is enough. The laser beam has low destructive power, so there is no chance of causing lethal injury.

These advantages make laser stun guns the most promising means self-defense without permission, as evidenced by a noticeable increase in demand for this product.

Firearms

If the above list does not satisfy your needs, and you want to add a more effective means of self-defense to your arsenal, you will need a little more time and money to purchase it.

Required by federal law to become the owner of a cold or firearms, you must first obtain a license.

The first step in obtaining a document is passing special courses followed by obtaining a certification diploma. It must be renewed every 5 years. After training, you must undergo a medical examination to ensure there are no psychological problems and receive a certificate of form 046-1, which is valid for six months. In addition to the certificate and certificate, the licensing department must provide a 3x4 cm photo, photocopies of all completed pages of the passport and a receipt for payment of the license tax. The document verification process takes up to 1 month.

After receiving a license, you can safely go to a gun store to buy new clothes. But don’t forget to bring enough money with you, since firearms for self-defense are not cheap at all.

27.09.2015

Today, choosing self-defense products is quite easy. There are several types of legal devices used in self-defense against illegal activities. You can purchase highly effective self-defense means without a license in specialized stores. It is enough to present your passport and be 18 years old at the time of purchase.

When protecting yourself and your loved ones, you can use objects that are not initially considered means of protection: a kitchen/household knife, an ax. There is a wide class of air guns. Effective when used, but not specifically intended for self-defense. You shouldn't get carried away with such things. There is a high probability of irreparable consequences. It is more convenient and safer for yourself to use specially created means of self-defense.

The list of self-defense items includes devices that differ in layout, principle of operation and nature negative influence on the enemy.

Gas cans

They are considered the most accessible means of self-defense. Cheapness, size and ease of use make them extremely popular. The cans are filled with chemical compounds that have a strong effect on humans, causing burning, tears, and coughing. They differ in the type of spray (aerosol, jet, gel, foam). The place of use (indoor/outdoor) depends on this characteristic.

An important factor is weather conditions (in strong winds and rain it is not recommended to use it for self-defense). The maximum range of action is 3 meters. You need to spray at a distance of more than 1 meter, otherwise there is a risk of inhaling the nasty stuff along with the attacker. After 2-5 seconds the hooligan will feel the gas working on him. The duration of the negative effect is calculated to be 5-7 minutes.

These self-defense means have low level injury hazard. They do not require special skills to use, are convenient to wear/storage, and are effective against dog attacks. But it is better not to use it in rain, wind or indoors.

Signal weapon

Signal revolvers and pistols, as means of self-defense, can only cause psychological harm. To scare the attacker - the main task"signals". Another effect of a shot is attracting attention. In most cases, this should be enough to repel an attack.

Without a certificate of conformity, the sale of pistols of this class and ammunition for them is impossible. Weapons with a caliber of no more than 6 mm are available for free sale; a license is required.

Owners of starting pistols need to remember that they have a weapon in their hands, even if it is not capable of causing physical injury. It is their civic duty to follow the rules for using and storing these means of self-defense.

Learning to use flare pistols is not difficult. The main thing is to apply them competently, according to the situation (from a psychological and legal point of view).

Blow to blow

The abbreviation fits perfectly into the function of the device for self-defense. Aerosol spraying of small doses of gas using powder charge low power. Having appeared recently, UDAR has undergone several modernizations (the caliber of ammunition has changed, the device has been adapted for firing with both hands).

The UDAR uses cartridges with gunpowder, but it is not fully a pistol. All mechanisms are placed in a wide body-handle (aka magazine for 5 charges). The IMPACT shot is guaranteed to reach an enemy standing 3 meters away. BAMER - a variation of IMPACT can do the same thing already at 5 meters.

The obvious advantages of the UDAR self-defense tool include:

  • Different types of cartridges (by size and content of destructive substance);
  • Small size and ergonomics;
  • Wide operating temperature range;
  • Safety margin for 500 shots;
  • Presence of a fuse.

For active self-defense, it turned out to be a pretty good thing (a cross between a pistol and a spray can) and you don’t need to get a license.

Shock and pain

A stun gun is a means of self-defense, carried in a pocket/bag, purchased without a license and capable of stopping attackers even with sound. Electric shockers can completely immobilize an attacker (human/animal) by causing convulsive muscle contractions. These self-defense weapons are divided by type of use:

  • The blow is delivered upon contact with the target (any maximum open areas body);
  • The shocker hits at a distance (shoots with contacts).

Both types have their positive and negative sides. Self-defense with a full-contact stun gun requires some skill. You need to be able to take advantage of the right moment to reach your opponent. When practicing the method at a distance, you need to have shooting skills and reserve time for reloading.

It is undesirable to use the product on minors and pregnant women (there must be obvious signs), the period of contact of the body with the shocker should not exceed 3-5 seconds, and do not direct the attack to the face and groin.

Shockers are difficult to store. They are afraid of moisture, dust, sudden changes temperature regime. Children of the owner of a stun gun should not know where their parents’ self-defense means is. Plug in only to charge batteries.

In skillful hands, a stun gun will become a powerful means of self-defense, a serious argument against encroachment on its owner. A person wielding a stun gun should take it very seriously.

Raise the alarm

Passive means of self-defense include the so-called pocket sirens. These are special small devices that emit loud sound signals. They will not be able to harm the attacker in any way, but they can stop unlawful actions or distract offenders. Their main advantage is their absolute age accessibility. It is enough to simply pull a special pin out of the device, and it will immediately begin to make a very loud sound.

The rules for carrying weapons in Russia are established by Federal Law 150-FZ “On Weapons”.

A weapons license in Russia is granted to capable adult citizens and gives them the right to purchase, use, carry and store weapons in accordance with the rules established by law for a period of up to 5 years. Any unlawful use of a weapon, improper storage or carrying of a weapon without permission, if required, leads to punishment and without it, not only a fine can follow.

What weapons require permission and license

Weapons that ordinary Russians (not military personnel or police officers) are allowed to use are called civilian weapons. It can be used for self-defense, for sports or during hunting.

Without a license you cannot use:

  • firearms,
  • gas,
  • sports,
  • hunting,
  • traumatic,
  • signal pistols, revolvers and shotguns;
  • air pistols with a caliber greater than 4.5 mm or a muzzle energy greater than 7.5 J;
  • bladed weapons intended for self-defense or to be worn with traditional folk costumes.

This means that in Russia you cannot use traumatic weapons and hunting rifles without permission.

Important: Military weapons In principle, it is not intended for storage and use without special permission.

Penalty for carrying a licensed weapon without a permit

For violating the rules of carrying a licensed weapon, the violator faces punishment under Art. 20.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses in the form of a fine, or deprivation of the right to carry, store, or purchase weapons for several months. Weapons that the offender carried illegally are confiscated by the competent authorities.

Important: Such types of weapons as brass knuckles, shurikens, other types of throwing and impact-crushing weapons that have not undergone forensic examination, blades with a retractable blade and cold steel are completely prohibited from being distributed in Russia. bladed weapon.

What types of weapons can be used without permission?

According to Article 13 150-FZ, unlicensed and licensed types of weapons, except firearms, are permitted for sale in Russia only to persons over 18 years of age.

Buyers must be 21 years of age to purchase a firearm.

Important: A person under 21 can purchase a civilian firearm if he/she passes military service or already has a military rank.

Types of weapons that can be used without permission and license:

  1. Mechanical gas sprayers. In Russia you can use gas weapons without permission. This type includes all types of gas canisters with tear gas or other types of irritant spray inside (for example, pepper spray). There are aerosol, gel, and jet cans.
  2. Gas sprayers cannot be used in enclosed spaces, in rooms with large crowds of people, or in strong winds.
  3. Gas pistols with caliber up to 4.5 mm. They also apply to weapons gas type. Gas pistols use irritating projectiles as cartridges. As in the case of gas canisters, if you use a gas pistol in a crowded place, this may be considered an excess of self-defense.
  4. Stun guns are devices with a power of up to 3 W, equipped with protruding electrodes. Designed to shock a target.
  5. Air guns can be used without permission if they are pistols with a caliber of up to 4.5 mm and a muzzle energy of up to 7.5 J. In air pistols, shots are fired using compressed air or a gas charge.
  6. Small-caliber signal weapons (pistols and revolvers with a caliber of up to 6mm).
  7. Light and sound weapons - affects the enemy with a combination of light and sound effects. This type of weapon includes the Antidog self-defense product; it is positioned as a means of protection against dogs.
  8. Rare smoothbore weapon or bladed weapons - they are intended for storage in the house as interior decoration.

Information about caliber and muzzle energy must be indicated on the certificate for any model of air pistol. In Russia, the most common are air pistols with muzzle energy up to 3 J.

Important: You can also use variations of the listed types of weapons, for example, a rocket launcher with the functions of a gas weapon.

To obtain a license, a Russian must not only reach a certain age, but also be recognized as legally competent. This is confirmed by a certificate from medical institution about the absence of contraindications to carrying weapons and a certificate from a psychiatric and drug treatment clinic.

What traumatic weapons can be used without permission for self-defense

Civilian licensed weapons, as well as those that do not require a permit, are intended for self-defense and are permitted for use only when there is a threat to the life or health of the owner.

The use of civilian weapons unnecessarily can be regarded as a crime, especially in cases where others have suffered due to the unmotivated use of self-defense. The boundaries of necessary defense are determined by Art. 37 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

Punishment for violating the rules of carrying and using unlicensed weapons

It is acceptable if a citizen uses a weapon or any object that can be used as a weapon in order to protect himself or others, or uses it for self-defense in the event of an unexpected attack, when he does not have time to evaluate possible consequences use of self-defense means.

Important: Deliberate actions that clearly do not correspond to the danger of encroachment are considered to be exceeding the limits of permissible defense.

A gross violation of public order using not only weapons, but also any objects resembling weapons, is subject to Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Hooliganism”. Crimes under Article 213 of the Criminal Code can be punished not only by a large fine, but also by compulsory or correctional labor, and even by imprisonment. Even threatening passers-by with a gas pistol, which resembles a firearm only in appearance, can be considered hooliganism.

Aggravating circumstances include crimes committed in a group, by prior conspiracy, and while drunk.

What weapons are not considered weapons and do not require a permit?

A weapon is considered to be only an object that is structurally manufactured and intended to cause damage to the life and health of people.

The following are not considered weapons and do not require a license or permit:

  • household knives
  • other knives without a point or with a thick blade (more than 5-6 mm), with a short handle or low hardness and strength of the blade material
  • saws and hammers
  • baseball bats

However, in cases where damage to people’s health was caused by a household knife, bat or other object, this object will already be regarded as a weapon.

Only a few have perfect skills in countering attackers in hand-to-hand combat. Therefore, weapons can become a real salvation in extreme situations. civil self-defense. Fortunately, current legislation provides for the possibility of using a whole arsenal of defensive means, the acquisition of which does not require a license.

What civil self-defense weapons can be purchased without a license?

  • aerosol self-defense products;
  • stun guns;
  • spark gaps;
  • gas pistols and signal revolvers;
  • pneumatic weapons with a caliber of up to 4.5 mm;
  • spearfishing weapons;
  • household knives.

What should you keep in mind when buying a defensive weapon without a license?

When purchasing a self-defense weapon without a license, first of all, you should not overestimate its capabilities. Even the most modern models of defensive pneumatic weapons have very little impact power and penetration ability.

If the sight of a gun in the hand does not have the desired psychological effect on an attacker, there is a minimal chance that the attacker will run away when fired with a metal ball. When a situation poses a potential threat to life, it is recommended to aim an air gun at unprotected areas of the body, for example, at the attacker’s face.

As for the effect of gas in appropriate protective equipment, it can noticeably lose its destructive power, especially in frosty weather, due to a decrease in pressure. Therefore, for a self-defense weapon to have an effect, you must be able to quickly assess the situation, your own strengths, and the real intentions of the enemy.

Aerosol devices

Civil self-defense weapons such as aerosol metered spray devices operate on the principle of gas pistols. Protective equipment of this category is charged using small-sized cans.

A shot from aerosol devices is produced by jets of irritating chemical composition. Once on the surface of the attacker’s skin, the active substances cause an extremely unpleasant, severe burning effect, especially if the composition gets on the mucous membranes of the nasopharynx and eyes. When used effectively, an aerosol self-defense weapon can make the attacker passive for at least 10-20 minutes, which is enough for salvation.

Gas cartridges

The use of self-defense weapons in the form of gas canisters makes it possible to hit an attacker with a cloud of gas that irritates the mucous membranes. The action of most gas canisters leads to severe burning of the facial area, which often leads not only to complete disorientation of the aggressor, but also to loss of consciousness.

Among the advantages of gas cartridges it should be noted:

  • affordable price;
  • breadth of choice;
  • light weight and compact dimensions;
  • particularly easy to use.

If we talk about the disadvantages, then gas self-defense weapons are not very effective at sub-zero temperatures. At the same time, there is a high risk of purchasing a defective or faulty product. In general, gas cartridges can be dangerous for the defender himself in the presence of a headwind or when used in an enclosed space.

Stun guns

Stun gun - a self-defense weapon without a license non-lethal action, which shocks the attacker with a discharge of electric current with a force of up to 0.6 mA. When using a stun gun, there is no threat to the life of the attacker, but his muscle reaction is guaranteed to weaken for some time. Typically, contact of a powerful stun gun with unprotected skin will result in loss of consciousness.

In recent years, stun guns have become widespread among domestic users. The reason for this is the special compactness modern models. Innovative stun guns not only fit comfortably in the palm of your hand, but are also often disguised as various household tools and portable devices, such as flashlights or cell phones.

Light and sound weapons for civil self-defense

Light and sound means of personal self-defense belong to the category of non-lethal devices. The decisive role in their use is played by the psychological impact on the attacker, due to the combination of aggressive light and sound factors.

Light and sound devices are simultaneously distracting and stunning. For some time, the aggressor finds himself in a state of shock, often losing the ability to see or hear, and also completely loses orientation in the surrounding space. Until recently light and sound weapons for self-defense in Russia it was impossible to purchase without a license, since it was used as an element of certain models of barrelless pistols.

Among the main advantages of light and sound self-defense means are:

  • highly effective protection against intruders and stray animals;
  • the ability to hit a group of attackers with a single shot;
  • lightness and compact size;
  • ease of use;
  • affordable price.

Among the obvious disadvantages, it is worth noting the possibility of one’s own blinding or stunning. Therefore, when using it, it is better to use earplugs and operate with your eyes closed.

Pneumatic defense equipment

Due to the low impact force and small caliber, the destructive effect of most variants of pneumatic weapons differs little from the damaging ability of a child's slingshot. Even a successful shot that causes the projectile to penetrate cannot completely stop a determined attacker.

Considering the above, manufacturers of pneumatics, especially those that do not require a permit for self-defense weapons, make them as similar as possible to real ones. firearms. Thanks to this, a certain psychological obstacle arises for the attacker. After all, only a few attackers are willing to risk their own lives to determine whether the defender is shooting from a harmless pneumatic pistol or a real firearm.

With experience and practical self-defense skills, as well as choosing the right defense strategy, an air pistol can become an effective hand-to-hand combat weapon. For example, in conjunction with a preemptive shot, an air pistol can help continue the defense with a fist attack.

The only drawback of such means of self-defense may be low effectiveness when defending against trained dogs. According to experts, a pneumatic gun can help in a dog attack only through timely, targeted throwing at the head.

Self-defense means, the use of which potentially does not require a license

Based on the experience of individual ordinary people who have already had to defend own life and health, you can use almost any means of self-defense that does not fall under the definition of bladed weapons or firearms. However, such reasoning in practice is often erroneous.

Often, when communicating with law enforcement agencies, it turns out to be very difficult to prove the legality of the presence of found protective equipment that is not included in the standard list of permitted items. In this case, the person at least faces detention and delivery to the police station.

Officially permitted traumatic self-defense weapons, which do not require a license, belong to the category of products that do not pose a risk of depriving a person of life. This cannot be said with complete confidence about the same hunting knives, crossbows or telescopic clubs. Ultimately, proving one’s own innocence and the need to use this particular option of self-defense during legal proceedings can be difficult.

What means of self-defense are considered the most effective?

No specialist can answer this question unequivocally. The most familiar means of self-defense is suitable for each person, which has already managed to positively prove itself in extreme conditions. In addition, the determining factor that inclines the user to choose a particular security tool is often the absence of the need to obtain a license. Perhaps it is for this reason that effective traumatic impact pistols are in less demand today compared to others, more by simple means self-defense.

If we talk about the need for active self-defense from an attack by a group of opponents, then it is better to give preference to modern light and sound devices over stun guns, gas and aerosol means. In turn, stun guns, aerosols and traumatic guns potentially provide better protection against an attack by an attacker under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Finally

If you own a particular type of self-defense weapon, it is strongly recommended that you always carry with you an information sheet with the characteristics of the self-defense product, which is accompanied by a receipt of purchase, which can serve as an explanation of the origin of the product.

It is advisable to have prepared printouts with excerpts of the main provisions of laws on the legality of the use of weapons by civilians. All this together can significantly simplify the debate when communicating with representatives of law enforcement agencies and avoid unpleasant consequences.

Self-defense weapons that do not require a permit

“Weapons should be resorted to last, when other means are insufficient,” Niccollo Machiavelli once said and, of course, he was right. But even the genius of the Renaissance could not deny that there are situations in life when the use of weapons is not only justified, but also necessary. This article will tell you which weapons in Russia are acceptable for self-defense, what can be bought in our country without permission or a license, as well as how the sale is carried out and how to choose the best from many.

What weapons can you buy without permission and a license?

According to the latest edition of Article 13 Federal Law“On Weapons”, which came into force in December 1996, every citizen Russian Federation, who has reached 18 years of age, has the right to purchase the following weapons without permission and a license.

  1. Any mechanical spray or tear gas aerosol device.
  2. Electroshock device.
  3. Pneumatic weapons with a muzzle energy of no more than 7.5 J and a caliber up to 4.5 mm inclusive.
  4. A signal revolver or pistol having a caliber of no more than 6 mm and cartridges for it that are not suitable as projectiles for gas and firearms.

We propose to dwell on each of the points in more detail.

The legislation of the Russian Federation adopted changes according to which the concept of “traumatic weapon” no longer exists. It has been replaced by “limited-kill firearms.”

Gas weapon

A gas spray is the simplest and most easily accessible self-defense weapon that does not require a permit. This is a container with a caustic irritant (irritant). Five types of such substances are allowed on the territory of the Russian Federation, not counting their mixtures. Their main task is to briefly deprive a person of the ability to act actively. Irritants can cause excessive tears, pain in the eyes, temporary loss of vision, nosebleeds, and severe skin irritation.

Often the cans are equipped with a safety lock, which eliminates the possibility of accidental pressing and reduces the risk for the owner.

There are three types of gas weapons:

Aerosol can

Aerosol cans release a caustic “cloud” that can confuse multiple opponents at once. They are good because they do not require accuracy from the owner, but exclude the possibility of use in a confined space (elevator, car). In addition, such a spray can is too dependent on weather conditions. It should not be used in strong winds, frost or rain.

Jet can

Guess what the spray method is? That's right, a jet. Contact with a bare area of skin (we recommend aiming for the eyes) can neutralize the offender for several minutes. In addition, it can be used over a distance of several meters and in all weather conditions. But it will not be difficult for the enemy to dodge, and if you are attacked by two or more, you will have to aim at everyone. An inkjet spray requires concentration and attention from the owner, which may not be present in a stressful situation.

Gel can

In terms of characteristics, this can is similar to an inkjet can, with the difference that it can be used even in an upside-down position. The sticky gel filling the container clogs the eyes and respiratory tract, causing instant skin irritation. It is very difficult to remove. And it does not poison the air, which allows you to use it indoors. This is the best gas gun without a permit.

If you are left-handed, then you will not be able to use the “Udar” device, popular in Russia, which combines a gel can and a pistol.

Electroshock devices

A stun gun is a popular civilian self-defense weapon that does not require a license. Convenient in confined spaces. With proper care it will serve the owner for many years.

Photo from Webpark website

This is a compact and safe means of protection. It will not harm the owner, but the aggressor will suffer significantly. It is better to use a weapon with fewer volts, but with more current. Such a device can disable a person for half an hour. If you buy a “weak” stun gun, then be prepared for the fact that an attacker in winter clothes will not react to an attempt at self-defense. In this case, you need to try to find a vulnerable, unprotected place, for example, the neck.

The downside of this weapon is the mandatory close contact with the attacker.

You can use a stun gun to scare away dogs. Animals are afraid of the high-frequency crackling sound that the device produces.

Weak air guns

Pneumatic weapons are similar in function to a gas canister and in appearance to a pistol. Compressed air acts on the bullet: a shot occurs. There is an opinion that this best weapon self-defense, which does not require permission or a license. The main advantage is considered to be the effectiveness of the shot: a projectile fired from such a protective device is capable of breaking a bottle. But there are pitfalls here too.

Photo from Webpark website

In winter, air guns are practically useless. A bullet will cause almost no harm to a person wearing a down jacket. Frost will reduce gas pressure, and therefore the force of impact.

Be careful! Getting hit in the eye is considered an excess of self-defense measures.

Air guns are difficult to store. A fireproof safe is most suitable. If you don't have one, you'll have to try to find a place that children and overly curious adults won't get to. If you forget to unload your weapon before storing it, it may fail due to the constant stress on the spring. The gas cylinder can only be removed after you have put the weapon on safety and checked whether there are any bullets left in the drum. It is better if the gun is in the box in which it was purchased.

Signal weapon

This is a rocket launcher familiar to many. It is also considered a self-defense weapon, which does not require registration and a license, provided that the caliber of the weapon is less than 6 mm. The owner should expect a psychological effect rather than causing any physical harm. It is better to use at a distance of 7 m. To sell such weapons and ammunition, you need to obtain a certificate of conformity.

What is "Pioneer"

Another self-defense weapon that does not require a permit. Combines a signal pistol, a rocket launcher and a gas weapon.

This is the best weapon for self-defense without a permit, provided you learn how to use it.

  • Compact and lightweight.
  • Easy to reload, the handle has a replaceable clip.
  • Shoots at five meters.
  • There is an aiming front sight and a bar.
  • Several types of charges can be used.
  • Expensive.
  • It's hard to press the shutter button.
  • There is no laser target pointer.

Sale of weapons for self-defense

Any activity related to the sale of weapons requires a trade license.

If the sale of weapons for self-defense is carried out without permission, there is a possibility that at a critical moment the purchase will not work at all or will work against you. Such weapons cannot guarantee your safety.

Instead of a conclusion: a few more options

We could offer you as a remedy kitchen knife or an axe, but we won’t do that, if only because with such a weapon it’s very easy to exceed necessary measures self-defense. For firearms of limited destruction and smooth-bore long-barreled weapons, a license will be required.

Aerosol products

Metered aerosol spray products are a multi-charge self-defense device that operates on the principle of a gas pistol:

1. they are charged using small-sized aerosol cans;

2. shooting is carried out with a jet of irritating composition. If it comes in contact with the face, the active substance causes a severe burning sensation in the nasopharynx and mucous membranes of the eyes. The aggressor becomes passive for about 10-15 minutes, thanks to which the victim can escape.

The best self-defense means without a license of aerosol type are devices of the brands “Udar”, “Sorcerer” and “Bamer”. They do not require a license to carry and are quite cheap.

1. affordable price;

2. compactness and lightness;

3.Easy to operate.

3. in small rooms (car interior, entrance vestibule, elevator) and in a headwind it is dangerous for the owner;

4. leaves traces of irritants in a pocket, bag or on the palms;

5. When fired again, the gas from the canister has a weaker effect.

Electroshock devices

Stun guns are a non-lethal means of self-defense. Such legal means of self-defense shock the enemy with a discharge of electric current with a force of 0.6 mA. After the blow, the person remains alive, but his neuromuscular reaction is significantly weakened. As a result, the enemy may even lose consciousness.

1. stun gun, can easily incapacitate the attacking person, even if he is under the influence of drugs or drunk;

2. It can be used in cases where a gas cartridge turns out to be ineffective or dangerous. For example, in an elevator, car, entrance, or in strong winds;

3. no traces remain on the owner’s hands, including in a bag or pocket;

4. effectiveness in close combat;

5. The sound of the electric discharge is excellent at repelling dogs.

Shockers are the most effective means of self-defense.

1. the main disadvantage is the need for contact with the enemy;

2. the specified means of self-defense cannot be used as an offensive weapon;

3. firing stun guns require accuracy and skill;

4. The free sale of stun guns has led to the appearance of a huge number of low-quality devices on the market.

Light and sound self-defense means

Non-lethal means of self-defense also include light and sound weapons. It has a psychophysiological effect on the criminal using combinations of light and sound factors. Has a distracting and stunning effect. Moreover, it is so powerful that the attacker can temporarily stop seeing and hearing, including orienting himself in space.

Until recently, light-sound cartridges were available only in civilian self-defense weapons, for example, the Osa barrelless pistol, which was impossible to use without permission.

However, quite recently the light and sound self-defense device “Antidog” appeared. At the moment, this is the only weapon in this class that does not require a license for use in cases of necessary defense and constant carrying. Any citizen of Russia over 18 years of age can apply.

When the Antidog agent is fired, a loud sound and a bright flash are created. As a result, the enemy can be incapacitated even in city noise. These are effective, legal means of self-defense against dogs.

1. light and sound self-defense weapon "Antidog" is an excellent means of protection against stray dogs and criminals;

2. ease of use;

3. One shot can hit several attackers;

4. lightness and compactness;

5. affordable price;

6. No license required, sold freely.

1. there is a risk of blinding, as a result of which it is recommended to close your eyes before use;

2. there is a risk of stunning the shooter.

Pocket sirens

Pocket sirens are classified as passive self-defense devices. They make loud beeps. At the same time, they are unlikely to harm the attacker, but they will be able to distract the offender or stop unlawful actions. The main advantage is absolute age accessibility.

What weapons for self-defense do not require permission and a license: a review of the most effective means

Crime in our country is growing every day. It is impossible to predict where and when an unpleasant situation will happen, and confidence in the forces of law enforcement agencies is often lacking.

It is difficult for the average resident of Russia, who does not have special physical training, to defend their civil right to safety without the use of weapons.

To purchase it you will need appropriate knowledge and official permission. Fortunately, in modern world There are means of self-defense that do not require a license or permit. The most effective of them, approved for self-defense, are gas spray, “Udar”, pneumatic weapons, and stun guns.

Gas canister

A gas canister is a device with a tear or irritant inside. According to experts, this is the best weapon for self-defense without a license. It is quite popular among women, as it does not require special skills to use, weighs little and takes up little space. A fairly common civilian self-defense weapon that does not require a license. The advantages of this device include:

  • 1. Price – the cost varies from 200 to 1000 rubles.
  • 2. Easy to use - does not require special skills or psychological preparation, which is very important in stressful situations.
  • 3. Small size, allowing you to carry it in your pocket or purse.

However, when choosing gas canister Some disadvantages should also be taken into account:

  • 1. It is impossible to use this product in enclosed spaces (elevator, transport room) or in strong winds.
  • 2. No psychological effect on the attacker - the criminal is unlikely to be afraid of the sight of a spray can, as would be the case with a pistol.

Metered Aerosol Spray Device or “Strike” is a barrelless self-defense weapon - a pistol designed to shoot an offender using liquid irritants. Instead of cartridges, capsules with liquid are used.

  • 1. Firing range – five meters, regardless of the weather.
  • 2. Possibility of use in enclosed spaces - the direction of the shot practically eliminates the entry of an irritating substance into the zone of action of the defender.
  • 1. Shooting skill required.
  • 2. The device is designed for right-handed use.

Perhaps one of the most effective self-defense tools permitted without a license.

Airguns

Pneumatic weapons are similar in appearance to firearms, but unlike them, they do not require permission or a license. In general, one charge is enough for 30 – 50 shots. However, the power of such a pistol is extremely low.

Some users compare its shooting power to that of a slingshot. Pneumatics can also be used in hand-to-hand combat instead of weights or brass knuckles.

The main advantage of this weapon is the psychological effect - the attacker is unlikely to take risks if he sees a pistol in the hands of his victim that exactly imitates a firearm.

Stun gun

A stun gun is a small device with two protruding electrodes.

According to GOST requirements, the power of this device is no more than 3 W, which is quite enough to unbalance an adult.

Manufacturers offer a wide variety of shocker models; they can look, for example, like a lighter, cell phone or flashlight.

When choosing a stun gun, you should pay attention not only to the power, but also to the duration of exposure of the device - 0.2–0.5 seconds is considered optimal.

  • 1. The ability to temporarily deprive the attacker of the ability to move.
  • 2. The ability to paralyze the enemy from a distance of up to four meters.
  • 1. The device runs on batteries, they must be constantly monitored and changed on time.
  • 2. Often, especially in winter period, electrical discharge unable to penetrate thick layers of clothing.

In a critical situation, you should not panic, but act quickly and decisively. To summarize, we can advise you to have several types of weapons with you - not just one, but others will be able to defend themselves. In addition, it will be useful to take a self-defense course, where you can learn some hand-to-hand combat techniques.

When purchasing self-defense means, remember that it should be used in cases of extreme necessity and strictly for its intended purpose.

Or maybe they should put the father in a cage right away?

In general, I have a negative attitude towards weapons, but recently my mother and I had to buy a stun gun. Dad drinks a lot and sometimes catches a squirrel and in this state becomes very aggressive. The only thing that helps us is a stun gun. Thank God you can buy it now without a license.

Just don’t wet your dad when he’s a squirrel, his heart might not be able to stand it.

What weapons are allowed in the Russian Federation for self-defense without a license - review and tips for choosing

Question effective self-defense has always been relevant for Russia. Good physical shape and skills will not always help protect yourself in critical situations. As an addition, you can consider means that increase the effectiveness of countering criminal elements.

Is it always necessary to prepare official documents and what weapons are allowed in Russia for self-defense without obtaining a license?

Studying regulations

The basic requirements for means of self-defense are set out in Law No. 150-FZ, Article 3. It describes weapons used by civilians for personal protection, sports, hunting and educational equipment. To own most of the list you will need a license.

The following types of weapons will require official permission:

  • Hunting rifles: smooth-bore and rifled type. It differs from the combat one in the absence of an automatic firing mode and in the magazine capacity.
  • Sports. Designed for bench or practical shooting.
  • Weapons for self-defense. The most popular are models with limited damage properties. Muzzle energy should not exceed 91 J. Elastic bullets are also used (read about traumatic pistols here) or special cartridges with buckshot (for hunting models).

Obtaining a license for these types of self-defense equipment is difficult and can take a long time. Therefore, other options are being considered as an alternative.

Legal weapon for self-defense without a license

The main property for official means of self-defense is their limitation lethal effect. Weapons of this type are designed to have a psychological impact on the attacker and cause minimal harm to his health. But if used skillfully, it will help avoid dangerous situation even before it begins.

Gas canister

An effective and relatively affordable means of protection. It is a small can with a spray function. special means. Manufacturers may include chlorobenzalmalonodinitrile (CS) or oleoresin capsicum (OC) in its composition. The action of the first is aimed at irritating the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract and eyes. OC upon contact with skin provokes itching, can cause slight suffocation, and causes coughing. The latter is most effective for self-defense.

  • Aerosol. When the mixture is released, small drops are formed, the direction of which is highly dependent on the wind. Advantages – large affected area. Recommended for use against groups of people, packs of dogs, etc. Range – 1-1.5 m.
  • Jet-aerosol. Has a shorter range, but produces droplets when sprayed bigger size. Characterized by a weak respiratory effect. Effectiveness – up to 2 m.
  • Jet. When pressed, a narrowly directed jet is obtained. Recommended for use indoors. Range – up to 3 m.

Stun gun

Defeating an attacker with an electric current using a special device will not cause him irreparable harm, but will disorient him for some time, the work of the central nervous system will be unstable. To achieve this effect, you need to choose the right stun gun for self-defense.

Based on the type of action, they are divided into contact and remote. In the first case, the device comes into contact with the attacker with the active part, in the second, the electrodes are located on a detachable cartridge, which is fired back.

According to current regulations, stun guns are divided into three groups according to voltage and power parameters.

Effectively use models belonging to the first group. It must be taken into account that if there is a large amount of clothing, the discharge may not penetrate the attacker’s skin. Also, when using a stun gun, safety rules must be followed.

Household knife

The use of a household knife as a means of self-defense is extremely undesirable. Handling this type of weapon requires professional skill and practice. There is no need to think that it is a means of preventive defense - the sight of a knife will not always scare off attackers. At the same time, they can be seriously injured, even fatally.

A knife does not belong to the category of edged weapons if it meets the following basic characteristics:

  • the absence of a tip or its placement above the butt line by 5 (10) cm for a blade length of up to 180 mm (from 180 mm);
  • if the blade is shorter than 90 mm;
  • with a handle less than 70 mm;
  • lack of sharpened blade.

This is just a number of characteristics, an extended list of which is given in GOST 51215-98.

Pneumatic guns

This self-defense weapon has all the external features of a firearm, but has worse characteristics. Air pistols are divided into sports (without a license) and hunting. For protection, it is recommended to use the first models.

The best option is pistol-type pneumatics. A license is not required if the initial bullet speed is no more than 150 m/s, the shot power is up to 7.5 J, the caliber is up to 4.5 mm. The weapon is quite massive, since the design includes a mechanism to increase the pressure in the barrel during a shot.

Classification of air pistols:

  • According to the operating principle - piston, balloon or compression. For self-defense, it is recommended to use balloon models.
  • Rate of fire – automatic or single.
  • Possibility of using bullets various shapes: flat, hemispherical, conical, expansive.

Popular manufacturers: “Baikal”, “ASG”, “Hatsan”, “Borner”. The cost of an air pistol for self-defense varies from 3,700 to 53,000 rubles. As an alternative, you can consider starting pistols. But they will not cause any harm to the attacker and will only have a psychological effect.
